So what's the point of this game? is it like Dead Rising where we kill hordes of these monsters and that's pretty much it? any story mode? or mutliplayer?

I looked through EDGE's info blowout and couldn't find any of this.

its a singleplayer game and yes it has a story

I'm baffled by how many people are saying this looks amazing, and even moreso by people saying it has what Infamous didn't....

wat???

It looks like a more colorful crackdown. It looks neat, but we're really trying to get the hype train going eh?

Good lord alguna gente debe aprender a callarse la puta boca.

I google translated that.

"Good lord some people should learn to shut the fuck up."

Why you say that, what's wrong?

Edit: ah, you're probably talking about that spanish guy in the video, carry on.

That describes every other insomniac game. It is the old PS2 animation engine without physics or mo-cap. Same problem games that use older engines like Madden/FIFIA 11 (till they moved to physics based collision), Boderlands etc.

Insomniac engine has been their weakest point. Rendering, Physics, Animation is still stuck in the PS2 world.

Wait, they're seriously still using the PS2 R&C engine? The one that was just a modified Jak & Daxter engine?

... Really?

The game's customization systems are expansive as well. Not only can you precisely tailor your character from a huge number of body parts and clothing pieces, but an Amps system lets you craft weapons and other tools to help you along the way. Recipes scattered around Sunset City require cans of Overcharge to be combined with other items to craft Amps; weapons each have Amp slots, which serve to upgrade them with powers that go well beyond simple stat buffs (though you get those, too).

The color palette matches the description. It looks like Ratchet & Clank fused with Infamous, which for some might sound great, but not really my thing. Looks good otherwise.

I'm so glad that resolution and frame rate aren't a massive deal for me. That I can look at footage of this game and be blown away by the colour and the how fun it all looks.

Id really hate to be so jaded and always looking towards the negative.

This game just looks like good wholesome fun, which games need more of in my opinion.

It's also really made me realise how important art style and color is to me. People say that this reminds them of inFamous but I really don't get anywhere near the same level of excitement from looking at footage of Second Sun. This just has so much more character and that def makes it appear more fun to play (even if it actually isn't).

I should also say this reminds me of Monday Night Combat. I'd have loved to see that game grow into something like this. They really got character and animation down pretty well when they wanted to! SMNC did more harm than good, it seems. :(

Really, Fizzie here is pretty much Wascot/Bullseye!

Its clear that i am in the minority this looks meh also whats with the jet set radio sliding everywhere will pass on this one

Hope this does well for Insomniac, looks like something more in line with what they excel at than Fuse was, and I'm always up for a good open world romp. This may not get me to buy an XB1 right away, but it'll definitely be one of the games I play first on it when I do.

Indeed.

There's a story to DR3. Also from what I gathered, people turn OD'D from the drink, the company covers it up as a virus and quarantines the city. My guess is your job is to take down the company and escape, all while killing these things and meeting other survivors along the way.

Holy shit, it looks even better than the teaser imo. People were saying that was cg.

The teaser had character models that didn't look amazing, but it was notably CGi once shots were fired and you saw the liquid effects on the monsters.

No way is the game going to have liquid physics anywhere near what the teaser had.

In the gameplay vid there is liquid physics, looks pretty cool to me. Also the monsters jumping to the soda crazy addicts made me smile.

Yeah, people have different opinions than you.

That spanish video is going to get taken down so fast. It looks like it's running in 15fps in that video, and that's not what insomniac wants.

Left 4 dead?

eh, depends on the diffculty. Wouldn't call them smart either. Games where you fight hordes of enemies(dead rising, dynasty warriors ect.) are always dumb. Hell, I can't think of a single AAA game with decent AI at all(F.E.A.R. maybe?) so complaining about AI in a game like this is especially dumb imo.
