My immediate reactions:
- It makes the same promise as Crackdown 2, but with Insomniac's sort of buoyant sense of humour and zest.
- It looks gorgeous and very vibrant. Aesthetically it's like a fever dream skate punk; comparisons to JSR are definitely earned visually, although the latter has a flatter palette.
- I hope the rails system for traversal feels very tight.
- I hope that the tons of trash mobs feel satisfying to defeat rather than nuisances, Crackdown 2 occasionally veered into the latter category.
- I was very interested from the CG trailer and pedigree and continue to be interested.
- As soon as I finish the Bureau, I'll be starting Fuse.

Make sure you do it in co-op when you do.

Well god damn! Its like if Infamous and Dead rising had a baby unless im fucking up the mixture. It looks really fun imo.

How did I miss this thread?! I love how this looks! It's really pretty, and vibrant. The combat seems has a nice suspension/float that I personally like in these type of games, and i love the traversal combos you can do.

I would be ecstatic if this game became the Crackdown 2 we never received.

Also, why are you playing bad games back to back. :P

is that, Desmond?

What's up with the instantly disappearing dead enemies?

Second Son is the only thing on PS4 right now that I would really like to play, but now I just don't care. This blows it away in terms of overall appeal for me.
Well if you've played any of the other Infamous games then you have played Second Son only prettier. This looks like something fresh and new and exactly what next gen needs atm.

"More of the same" and ACiT in the same sentence.

What.

It wasn't?

I played every single ratchet and clank game minus the last one. Ratchet's gameplay was identical to the first one. Only thing that changed was Clank's, which was the highlight of ACiT.

It has been a running problem with Insomniac's game design, that the thing they focus the most is the weapons, not the mechanics. It plagued Ratchet and it plagued Resistance. In all of them, the only thing that changed was the guns.

So far, judging by this small clip, they seemed to fix that.

I have played them and think they are great, as I'm sure Second Son is. But this is just doing so much more for me in just about every area that I can see.

They explode?

into half a litter puddle of juice. But why such a sudden change? Engine just phases out their models in 1 frame and places a small juce sprite in their place. Transition looks jarring. They should at least create small animation of enemies designating into nothingness at least.

Looks a bit slow... otherwise looks really great, I think the cartoony style fits with it and makes it look better that actualy is... like the Mario Kart 8

I reccommend playing it with friends if you can. It's better experienced as Co-Operative.

Eh... I think it looks fine. No "should" or "must" imo... design choice.

they obviously lost frames and the only thing is running slower than it should (or how it plays).

not representative. lots of real footage coming next week

One thing I can't understand is why MS would allow this to be showcased before E3? This would have taken the roof off.

I think since this is the XB1's first major Fall release, they wanted to let it have its extra time in the sun. Also, I think MS's E3 conference is going to be packed pretty crazy tight (Phil has already tweeted that they have had to cut stuff out...). To be fair to Insomniac and SO, they wanted to let the game get some exposure on its own, especially before the craziness that is E3 (where it'll just be another big game announcement, among dozens).

And I think it was a good decision since this game looks phenomenal to me. I'm glad it's receiving a lot of positive feedback. I'm personally loving the Dreamcast vibes. Hope this is a sign of a trend starting on the XB1. I'm getting the sense that the XB1 is heading towards OG Xbox territories in terms of the type of games MS goes after/publishes, and that is just fine by me.

At any rate, if they're showing this stuff so soon, what must they have planned for E3? :)

Looking forward to hearing more about how they're going to constantly update content from player's feedback like they said they were going to do.
