Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 7: How Can My Smash Brother Be This Cut

For the Spirit Tracks stage, we're very likely to get the overworld theme.

For the Kid Icarus stage, the boss battle music.

Also, needs Mysterious Invaders:

What's the likelihood of Little Mac being a starting character?

I'd say 95% chance, outside of snake and sonic all the newcomers revealed before Brawl's release were playable from the start, same with melee's newcomers IIRC

When it comes to Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem music, it's really hard to pick stand out songs from Uprising and Awakening. Their whole soundtracks are so good that they could pick pretty much anything and I'd be happy.

Hey guys.

Thinking of the Spirit Track stage, do you think it'll start off with a slow start and begin gradually speed up, or will the stage begin in full swing?

You know, now that I think about it, KI:U really was paced like a Saturday Morning Cartoon.

Complete with completely random alien attack that kind of just happened and then resolved

I don't know, there's something strangely appealing about to me. I never post on there, but I feel like the atmosphere is way more positive than any other console's community. And some of the messages that pop up in Nintendoland/Super Mario 3D World really crack me up.
i can't take it seriously since a majority of the community is kids who considered themselves or act like die-hard nintendo fans where nintendo is the best and does nothing wrong in their eyes. i mean I know im generalizing alot but still

I'm sure in the millions of pages the smash threads have gone through this has probably already been talked about, but...

Do you think Mii's (when announced) will work like they do in Mario Kart? i.e. Hight and weight determine weight class / driving style?

but in smash it would be fighting type
small light Mii's would be faster like a Pikachu, mac, pit.
"normal"(for lack of a better term) Mii's would be well rounded like Mario, Link, Samus
heavy Mii's would be slower and give out more damage, like a Bowser, Ganondorf, Charizard.

or do you think all Mii's will be and play the same no matter what?

You think so? I see a lot of complaints as well, maybe even more. Remember "No yeah for you today Mr. Sakurai"?

I mean once you take out the "does nothing wrong" part, I don't see the problem with being a die-hard fan.

Pure poppycock. I daresay that NeoGAF is the premier establishment for well-mannered and thought-invoking dialogue pertaining to we connoisseurs of video gaming. You shan't find a haven more eloquent and thoughtful than dear old NeoGAF.

This word should be worked into the next thread title somehow.

Play the same no matter what. Changing their play style depending on their characteristics would suck, because then if you wanted to play as your Mii you'd have to get fat/skinny.

It feels like Sakurai reasoning there, at the very least.

Fire Emblem has [Id] Purpose though, which is one of the best pieces of OST EVER and 10x better than the rest of the already brilliant soundtrack combined :P

Just saw this,

Care to explain why it's nasty? Since I would like to know why or what's wrong with the screen.

Too plain and white, the back option in the top left looks out of place, and I would at least like some formed of a textured background.

I like the white outlines on the character icons, but the rest of it seems bland to me.

Hmm, good points. Yeah, I like white outlines on the characters as well.

Agreed, seems kind of flat. I wouldn't mind the menus looking similar to Mario Kart 8; presentation on that game is slick.

Just saw this,

It looks way too much like the Brawl roster screen for my liking, but, going by the aesthetic of the Smash website, I image what we're gonna get is something close to this. I hate the sterile, minimalist trend in graphic design right now, and would really like to have my texture and dimension back, please.

Just saw this,

Looks good to me. I like it a lot. But not more than that other fake we saw last time.

If that turned out to be real, as you started to unlock guys they would be rearranged and icons would show up where there were no question marks as well.

Oh and congrats to PadWarrior! Mine is 2 now and I already know we'll be playing this Smash and late nighters in about 3 years time.

How does everyone feel about keeping the way you select characters the same? Would you rather have it the way it's been (Picking up the circle, placing on your character) or more like a standard fighting game (a la Street Fighter)?

I actually really want there to be 3D models in the character select screen ala Smash Bros. 64.

I had a good idea how the character select screen may work.

This is for the 3DS game, but could obviously be replicated with the GamePad:

The bottom screen will have all the character icons, rules etc. ready to tap and select.

The top screen will be divided into four "columns" with like a dark grey background, sort of foggy, think of it like one of those dingy boxing arenas, and each column will show a full character model in their idle positions with their "Player 1" things around them and with their logos in the corner.

It's hard to visualise, and i'm awful at editing, but I hope y'all get what I mean.

The token system is superior, because you can pick CPU characters without having to cycle between you and them.

^lol I see what you did there, Red Arremer.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.

The Wii U will have enough screen space to do all of that on the TV.
