Yet it also has so many satisfactory moments with Stryker getting fucked over.

Wolvie sticks him in the ribs, then chains him to the helicopter.
Then Magento comes in and essentially staples him to a concrete wall.
Then Stryker finally dies while stapled to the wall as the damn bursts. He is either crushed by the force of the wave, or drowns.

So nice.

He also got mind raped by Charles

Disagree with you on blade 2, it's aged far worse than the first has. I just don't think Guillermo del toro is a good English director. The first had a far better villain too

X2 and Spidey 2 tho

Nomak > Frost.

Blade 2's awesome fight scenes, Reapers, and Rob Perlman make it better than Blade 1. And I really liked Blade 1. Although not Stephen Dorff.

Agree to disagree on that. Frost was very euro trash and entertaining. That guy guillermo keeps giving speaking roles to has no business in theatrical films for me though

(Neither does dorff anymore either lol)

Mystique works far better being more silent. She only speaks when needed to, really bizarre casting Jennifer Lawrence as her

I put Blade 1 and 2 on the same level. They both had awesome fights and great villains. Blade 2 might edge out because of the Blade/Nomak fight.

Agree to disagree. I still love the last third of Blade 2 though. Everything from the moment Blade is captured and in the villain's lair is great. Especially the nasty fight between him and Nomak at the end. So brutal and dirty.

But, you still love Blade 1. So we can still be bros.

January Jones may have been a terrible actress but to kill Emma Frost off in the new timeline is monumental waste of a great character. If Terrance Howard and Edward Norton can be replaced without damaging the MCU then it would have been easy for someone like Alice Eve or Natalie Dormer to step in as Emma Frost.

Am I the only one upset that Darwin didn't make it back for this movie?

He arguably got one of the most interesting power for a mutant. It would have been cool to see more of him.

I know he exploded cause of the pure energy Shaw put in him, but people thought he converted himself into pure energy to adapt and would reform himself later. :( alas that's not the case.

I thought that it was pretty funny that even though his power was to survive anything that's thrown at him, he was still the fist to die.

If Singer does the Phoenix story again, I hope he brings back Powell's Phoenix theme, even if Ottman does the rest of the score. !@#&ing ridiculously great piece. Raw chills.

Hopefully we find out she had a daughter with like the same name and same powers or something if she did die.

That mansion scene! Best Wolverine scene of the series! Man this movie is so good. I hope we get some action scenes on that and nightcrawlers level.

X-2 is filled with so many great little scenes. The one where Xavier is visiting Magneto and he realizes that he's basically screwed them over by telling Stryker about the X-mansion and Cerebro is very well done. Also the scene later on where Xavier sees what Stryker has done with his son Jason. The banter between Stryker and Xavier is pretty poignant about whether or not mutation is a disease, there's also the story that Stryker tells about his wife killing herself by jamming a goddamn power drill into her head to "bore out the images" Jason was placing in her mind.

See, it's freaky things like that which separate these X-Men films from the fairly clean-cut stuff in the MCU (and why I tend to like them a little bit more).

That smile on his face right at the end gets me every time, with the balls twirling around him like some insane magician. I love X2.
The smile that creeps across his face when Laurio enters his cell is fucking beautiful. Him feeling the metal in that guard like an old friend.

Mystique is fantastic in both X1 and X2, i hate what they have done to her in first class (doesn't help that Jennifer Lawrence is such a boring actor).

I think a lot of good moments have been mentioned but i'd like to give a shout out to the soundtrack. Pyros theme in particular is really good and i enjoy his role in general in the film (in particular the scene where magneto talks to him on the jet).

Yep, that scene just had a great feel to it. I was doing an x-men marathon before seeing first class 2 but now that i've gotten through X2 i don't want to go any further.

I would... almost recommend seeing Last Stand right before you go see DoFP, just to know exactly what set this franchise back so far and forced Singer to depict the future as post-apocalyptic.

The dialogue in X2 is really good for the most part. So many of the characters have great chemistry together. Most blockbusters you have to cringe your way through any dialogue scenes but in X2 they are really engaging, especially if magneto is involved.

I think i'm just going to push on through. At least if it completely bottoms out my expectations i can be blown away by FC2 lol.

X2 is the reason I'm more excited for X-Men: Apocalypse (only if Singer directs). Because we finally have the X2 writing team back. I'm still wary about Kinberg for DofP. He did write X3 after all. There's only so much Singer can do.

Man what a movie!!! Hasn't aged a day, still works just as good. They practically nailed every character. Magneto is so much better in this film, that swagger and his talk with Pyro, you can totally see how others will follow him. His final act is so horrible, letting his friend die so the entire human race could be killed, so brutal.

Everything between Jean and Wolverine is so good. Even though Cyclops gets horribly short changed the few scenes he does get to act in Marsden does fantastic. Brian Cox is the perfect human villain.

So many incredible moments, such a great flow to everything. And then a Phoenix tease to top it all off. Man I remember leaving the theater when I first saw it, my head spinning at the possibilities of a dark phoenix movie!

Then X-Men 3 happened. :( I am not watching X-Men 3, DofP exists just to erase that stupid movie.

Have faith. I've been awaiting Singer's return for years. He'll do great.

I'm tempted to do a movie marathon before DOFP but i might X-Men myself to exhaustion.
I last watched X1 - 3 at the beginning of the year, i've only watched First Class twice since it's been out.

watching X2 again the other day got me so excited

the movie really still holds up so well. completely forgot how hype a lot of it was too

"YOU WANT TO SHOOT ME, THEN SHOOT ME!" - the best

Rewatched X-Men 2 today.

Fuck it's so great. Still holds up perfectly. So many great scenes, many of which have been mentioned on this page. AHHHHHH SO GOOD.

Unfortunately, can't say the same for X-Men 1, which I also watched on Friday. I wouldn't call it bad by any means, but it's really basic. X-Men 2 all day.

On the commentary they discussed how someone mentioned if the balls were reference to the ball bearings Auschwitz prisoners had to make that were used in the production of German artillery. Singer really dug the idea so I wouldn't be surprised if they mention if offhand in this film.
