All that being said, a Stand
that anybody can see
? Why this Stand and not others? Its not like it was strictly better or super powered compared to other Stands so far. Seems hard to justify here but not elsewhere - was it just because it was so large?
I think Avdol made a point in the first episode about Jotaro being able to manifest Star Platinum quite vividly, and linked it to the strength of his spirit (so, not strictly in a physical sense).
For this one stand, strength being its defining characteristic, it would be the same: a manifestation so vivid and so "solid" to
be visible to everyone
.

3 is the most popular.

Agreed. I'd say that part 3 is the most iconic and influential part. Part 3 made the most contributions to the shounen genre.

It had been so long since I've read part 3 that I completely forgot about Strength. I can't wait to see all of the less known fights that I have forgotten.

Jojo's is so refreshing. No moe or excessive fan service. Even when it has fan service (this past episode for instance) it isn't gratuitous. Granted runaway girl is underage, but that isn't anything strange to anime.

I think Part 4 is the best. Best JoJo and best supporting cast. I think people will really, really love Part 4. It's gunna be real popular with US fans.

Dio sure likes to look at Johnathan's body.

Well, given that his old one had combusted, & he was nothing more but a disembodied head, the jerk can't be picky with what was offered as possible hosts.

Also, does Jotaro begin to lighten up later in Part 3? I'm finding his attitude to be a bit of a bummer, but the rest of the cast more than make up for it, such as Mohammed & Iggy.

Well, considering the humor started to pick up later on with Araki getting comfortable writing within the formula, I think so. But not to say he changing in general, just the cast more gelling.

How much do Jojo dvds cost? Are they available in the west?

They're pretty expensive, about $70-80 per volume. You'd have to import them from Japan, though they already have english subtitles. Hopefully with the CR deal, they'll be able to encourage someone to licence the DVD/Bluray at a cheaper price.

I gotta say: after watching the first season and the episodes of part 3 so far, I finally get the craze behind JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Fucking love it.

Man I really liked this episode. Polnareff battles are always fun. Also omg that one scene with Ebony Devil why aren't there gifs of that already.

I don't get Viz's line of thought of going from Devo to Soul Sacrifice. Soul Sacrifice is a Santana song. It would have been better to reference a Devo song or something, like Uncontrollable Urge.

Maybe the rights were that hard to secure that they couldn't even use song titles.

I don't get how this rights shit even works.

Would some musician really care that a manga or anime has a character with the same name as them or their band?

I not sure if it is even a case at all. Wouldn't it be protected by parody or homage or some shite?

I think it's more avoiding their lawyers or managers. They'll call for legal action over anything.

Crunchyrolls subs use Soul Sacrifice as well.

Fucking stupid when you can clearly hear him saying 'Noroi no Devo'.
Then he goes on to explain about curses but they didn't even call him 'the cursed'.

I am getting of their shitty subs already, as its only going to get worse from here.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders Episode 8:

Lawsuits are such a tragic events, but I am not going to fault the subbers here as much as I am Aramaki for being so uncreative with his naming references. Anyway, a much better fight then last week, though Polnarff is not the brightest one of the group.
Really, the especially creepy doll didn't raise on bit of suspicion from you?
Also, this was a return to form in actually battle tactics since Polnarff had to get creative in order to win and that is what I really like about Jojo, it isn't just a game of one-upmanship through brute force. At any rate, looks like next week is going to add some intrigue to the mix.

Lol, bunch of whiners in here getting their panties in a bunch because of name changes due to rights, instead of appreciating that there are official means of watching anime in English just an hour after something airs in Japan. If that's the majority of anime fans out there, no wonder the anime industry has to charge 90 dollars for blu-rays and pay animators two dollars per drawing to survive. :P

The episode was fantastic and David Production is really showing that at least they appreciate the good sales the first series achieved, and are paying dividends to those who supported it by making this series much better animated. :P

Pretty good episode. Also very violent, though I don't think they really needed to censor the contortion:

The censoring also had me confused as to what part of Poln's leg got cut off.

For next episode, I'm not expecting
Kayoin to be a traitor
, but I wonder what's up.

Insulting people is real classy dude. I would of thought you would know better.

I am sort of with Duckroll on this one, yea the name changes suck but what would expect them to do? CR has to protect itself legally and I am not going to blame them for that.

You realize that the sort of attitude your type of anime fan has would pretty much get people banned in Gaming threads right?

Maybe, but your attitude of insulting others is defiantly against the Neogaf terms of service.

I can express my disappointment at Crunchyroll all I want.
Maybe they can't use 'Devo', but they could of found an similar sounding alternative, the isn't completely unrelated like 'Soul Sacrifice'.

No one is telling you you can't express disappointment. Also, do you really want to backseat mod with me? Think carefully.

Could they have used something like "Dev" and gotten away with it?

Either way Polnareff still says Devo, so just ignore the subs for a sec and listen to the character and substitute the words.

They could have used "D'bo" like in the Capcom video game, Soul Sacrifice isn't remotely the same and it doesn't even sound like a human name.

It's always fun to watch these episodes where everyone on the team but one gets hit in the head with a dumbstick, leaving him to fend for himself while everyone else is useless for various reasons (This weeks was lets not check up on our attacked ally, and not be concerned about him being oddly late about meeting up).

I'm with duckroll here, I'm really glad to be able to watch this show like this. The name changes don't bother me and I just lol @ them. Chill guys and enjoy the Bizarreness.

It's possible that by the time the last scene with the gang being together took place as Polnaref was making his way to them.
In which case it would be the most horrible 5-10 minutes of Polnareff's day lol.

lol. And when Polnareff walks in, nobody notices he's all bloodied up!

Well considering the next episode has a dude called Rubber Soul I don't think that matters. Hell, there's a guy who's literally called Oyecomova in Part 7. My avatar's name is freaking Hot Pants. Jojo gonna Jojo.

They prob. assumed it was from Devo's initial attack. He did tell Joseph he was attacked during the ep.

Didn't he tell them he got attacked in the leg? Don't feel like checking the episode atm. Either way he was bleeding from the head so I expected a bigger reaction.

A bit of trivia: In 1989 the exchange rate between the Singapore dollar and the Japanese yen would not have been 40000yen for 500 bucks. That's closer to today's exchange rate. It would have been around 35000yen or less around that time period.

That historical discount probably doesn't have any impact on Joseph Joestar though, seeing how he's so loaded he doesn't mind getting a whole other room at the Shangri-la for some girl they hardly know! :P

Yeah what even is the point of the whole warning at the beginning [these names do not reflect actual places, people, etc...] is they are going to change the references.

Most non-Japanese speakers will likely assume "Norio no Devo" translates to Soul Sacrifice. It isn't that crazy. You might as well bitch that they translated "temeee!" into "you!" even though the voice actor clearly said "temee." Nobody besides people who know the original name will pick up disparity between the spoken dialogue and English translation.

Also what world do we live in that a minor name change makes them "shitty subs." It isnt like the subs don't make grammatical sense, or they failed to give plot details.

Speedwagon Foundation is pretty much the GE of the Jojo world.

That was a great episode. The naming stuff is dumb but it doesn't really affect my enjoyment of it, at least we don't have to deal with "Eiffel". There were some really nice animation cuts this episode, and when the music kicked in after Polnareff got the upper hand it made for a really exciting moment. I wonder if that's Polnareff's theme because it's a great track. The added scenes with Jotaro and Kakyoin were okay, a nice break in the tension. Polnareff getting locked up was a pretty funny addition, I don't think there was any mention of that in the manga. Can't wait for next week, one of my favourite battles.

I'm really glad I avoided ever watching Jojo before this. I don't know what it would be like to know what the original names were for the characters.

I really, really like the way Silver Chariot animates. It's much more fun and exciting in motion than pretty much anything from the previous season. Everything from the armor, the poses, and how bendy his fencing sword is... it's just so perfect.

Been catching up on this, just got through the silver chariot episode, really liking the improvement over the first season as far as visuals go, and of course the content itself is as entertaining as ever.

Man this episode was crazy as hell. I love this show.

Gonna have to learn to ignore those crazy ass injuries they get during fights and suddenly go away 2 or 3 scenes later though.
