Where should I go/what should I see. And very important are there any authentic pubs left in the city center?

BTW I'm not interested in musicals or any kind of museum.

You said no museums, but I quite like the RAF museum (if you're into airplanes).
If the weather is nice, drop by the royal botanic gardens.

I've got a lot of suggestions...

...oh...umm....

hmmm.....

...well...

Eurostar only takes 2 hours to Paris!

You could check if Chelsea or Spurs are playing when you're there.

The season is over so he can't (unless he is not going for a few months).

Yeah, I didn't know when he'd be there...guess I should have assumed it was soon. Heck, sometimes these threads are "what should I do in London for a day? BTW, I'm already here and it's 2pm!"

buy a travel card zones 1-5 for the three days

Soho, west end Oxford street, Regent street, Regent park,
Hyde park,

China Town, Tottenham court Road

Greenwich,02 canary wharf, Thames boat ride,(pay extra) west minster , houses of parliament.

Harrods, Hamleys, selfridges, primark,

hitting up the museums during half term is madness.

This, OP.

Gotta hit Primark.

Its been a few years since I went but the Ye Olde Chesire Cheese on Fleet Street is authentic and very old. It was the local watering hole for the likes of Samuel Johnson and Charles Dickens.

My experience with Lunden pubs was service ranging from indifferent to miserable bastards.

I am a fan of English beer though.

Don't go for beer, get yourself a nice cider.

Admittedly I don't drink very often at all, like maybe once or twice a year, but when I do I make sure it's a good cider.

Yep, make sure you don't miss out on primark. It is a must visit, bring plenty of pounds though as it is pretty expensive.

Please, if you haven't got anywhere important to be, then don't travel on public transport before 9.30am.

I understand that if you pay your money you can take the ride at that time - but if you're not part of Londonners flow then don't go (until after 9.30am).

OP I don't drink, but I know a few nice pubs

off Regent Street is a couple, Yorkshire Grey being one,

Samuel smith pubs I believe are good,

basically the more lived in, run down they look the more authentic, a general tip if you she a shit load of people lining the street then you know it is good.

oh and cannot go wrong in Tottenham court road,

I know you not into museums but come see new broadcasting house at the top or regent street.

I love that building was such a fantastic place to work in :)

OP should be sure to dine at Greggs as well

no more upmarket then that, make it Nandos

this , also if you get lost, ask direction we will help out, just uptown it is a busy busy place, all the tourist are taking their time strolling, remember no mater how quaint it looks it's a hectic busy city, all the Londoners have that "I don't want to be here look" that just years working uptown, and if you in busy shopping areas, do not randomly stop mid walk, otherwise someone will crash into the back of you, we just going about our business, repeat we are a friendly lot, if you stop to ask directions we will help, but then rush off as more than likely we on lunch break, don't take it personally.

on the tube do not make eye contact to no engage in small talk with strangers... nothing personal but it's how we cope on the tube.

only exceptions, it's sunny then everyone is too happy to give a fuck and chilled, world cup England doing well people are happy, christmas, people will sing on trains tubes and busses and no amount of not wanting to join in will save you, it's actually damn fun.

golden rule never complain about London to a Londoner, they will hate you for it, only other Londoners or people that work in London earn this right.

overall be safe, don't keep your stuff in your back pockets, watch out for fake beggars,

999 emergency services.
if food places to expensive there are usually supermarkets around to get a cheap meal deal, don't go McDonalds or KFC, try Nandos, Noodle Bars, GBK, Garfunkels
enjoy :)

In short Londoners most of the time are busy and miserable looking.

If you're not getting a multi-day train pass, for goodness' sake get an Oyster card instead of buying single tickets. Not only is it half the price, you won't hold up the whole system getting through the ticket gate. You can easily get one at a machine in a station, and then return it for your deposit and remaining credit back. Also, I see a lot of tourists hovering their Oyster cards above the reader and waiting for it to scan. You do have to actually touch it against the reader for a moment.

If the weather is good then try taking a Barclay's bike out in the parks - Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park and St James' Park are more or less contiguous. Just don't forget that '£2 a day' is just for basic access to the bikes and free sub-30 minute rides between dockings. You have to pay more if you take them out for more than 30 minutes at a time. I always have trouble explaining this to tourists who aren't great at English, but as you're seemingly Dutch you should be fine. (On that note, we really should have those bike station instructions available in languages other than English.)

forget 'proper' pubs. For authentic British go to Boots and get a meal deal for lunch, followed by dinner at Wetherspoons. That's where British people go.

Go to Camden.

OP, have your Oyster or your ticket ready as you approach the gates. Also you don't need to wait for the gates to close entirely to touch your Oyster card on the reader or to insert your ticket. Please don't stop in front of the gates waiting for them to close or searching for your ticket inside your bag as it will ruin my day. If it the gate is open and you touch your Oyster card or insert your ticket it will REMAIN open until you go through.

Also, if you need help don't be afraid to ask. People look miserable sometimes, but most of the lot are friendly enough.

And since you only have three days, I would avoid the high street and the shops completely. You can buy things online, use your time to get to know the city.

Leicester Square at night is lovely.

"Hey guys! Wanna go clubbing tonight?" ad infinitum

In short Londoners most of the time are busy and miserable looking.

but deep down we are a friendly noble proud people, a bit like those Emo teenagers , they may all look sullen and down and pissy but they just want a hug, OP will you be that hugger?

Thanks a lot for the suggestions.
I didn't know I went to London until yesterday and I'm leaving monday already.

I've been there 3 or 4 times already. I was just hoping for some original and new ideas.
That's why I ruled museums and musicals out :p

We'll just have a few relaxing days filled with shopping, sight seeing and enjoying the local ales.

Oh alright then. Have you taken the boat too Greenwich before? It's a nice trip, and Greenwich is pretty, even though the museum itself is kinda small.
If it's nice weather, which I see it won't be, I like having brunch at the south bank.
