Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 8: Put mii in, coach

I think the reason we haven't gotten dates on games like Hyrule Warriors is because we're probably not getting it in August like Japan is, or maybe very late in the month.

We'll get a release month if we're lucky.

Nintendo tends to wait until very close to launch before giving a date. I think we'll get a release date at the next big Nintendo Direct.

announcing the September release date of Smash 3DS!

I'm still hoping for an end July release date, at least for Japan.

And where the fxxk is my Yoshi's New Island release date, Nintendo?

Nobody knows for certain and likely won't till summer when the game is out and every character is unlocked.

All signs pointing to no, but GAF still believe.

I would be shocked. I love metroid, samus is my main, and I want ridley but even I don't believe.

I really would like a reboot/new metroid series with some better antagonists for samus. Maybe a game exploring the idea of bounty hunting while keeping space exploration.
Thanks guys, I'm just gonna assume he's not playable at this point.

That Luigi Expression....wonder if he also had that face when Waluigi was set to assist trophy status again. :P

I wonder how North America will handle publicity for Smash 3DS.

I've seen numerous TV spots on their "Summer of 2DS Kids" and various Mario Kart 8 on random channels. It's been awhile since I've seen their marketing team be really aggressive. Maybe they'll really push Smash 3DS just as hard.

Or maybe they already blew their whole budget on MK8...

Top idea:

For online, they should have communities such as Mario Kart 7/8 and Mario Golf.

This way, tournaments can easily be held and it'd track our progress. This is a no-brainer than just normal modes.

Little Mac, FD, Rocket Belt, GO.

I can't imagine a single system, ever, where I would only play one game on it.

Even the Vita, which is my least played system of all time, has five or six games.

Basically, anyone who says they would only buy a system for one game are lying, or eventually they will be.

When someone says they buy the system for one game, I would imagine it's their system seller, if you will. Of course you'd get other games that interest you for that system, otherwise it'd be a waste - but that one game is the game that sold the system to them.

Geno is never going to happen. He (or any other Super Mario RPG reference) didn't happen in the 3 or 4 Mario/Square crossover games that Square made, and it would've been the perfect opportunity for that. I think only one of the games used one remix from SMRPG, but that's all there is.

I also sincerely doubt Nintendo is going to buy the rights for a character from a one-off RPG that's almost 20 years old (and didn't come out in Europe until the VC release on the Wii), as opposed to one of Square's more popular and recognizable series like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, like they did for those Square-developed Mario spin-offs.

Brawl would've been the perfect opportunity for Smash (because SMRPG came out on VC in 2008), and it didn't happen then, either. Geno's time has passed.

Shulk on the other hand I wouldn't count out. He's definitely more likely than Geno ever will be.

We should consult the wheel of Sakurai

This is funny, even though not really true. :P
Going through the last 3 weeks...
Week 22: respawn platforms, filler (though it explains an item in detail), damage displayed by steam, Ike's Eruption comes back, 3DS HUD
Week 21: filler, Assist Trophy item, alt colors & mirroring certain of characters' models, team battle outlines, Ike
Week 20: Wire Frame Mac alt (arguably filler), Flare Blitz as new move for charizard, Mega Charizard X, Brittany trophy, TV-Game 15, Female Villager

So... 1 filler per week, new content or explanation of already known content for the rest.

Maybe its just me but it feels as though the Geno crowd has significantly become quieter as time has passed compared to like when Brawl was on the way...?

The Geno cried became quieter because they all died.

The only people that wanted Geno were a bunch of senile old men stuck in the past.

The anti-Geno crowd were always louder and significantly more annoying, from what I've seen, than the pro-Geno crowd ever were. The pro-Geno crowd were probably shouted down enough that they simply learned to keep quiet.

I'd totally be for Geno's inclusion. I'm not expecting Geno, for a variety of reasons (chief being that, being Square Enix property, he's surprisingly a third-party character, and I'm sure Square would rather have a Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger character get representation first), but I'd totally love his inclusion.

Not sure why the support isn't as strong for Mallow, too, but eh

:p

The geno crowd died because brawl was basically the last chance for him to make it in. Brawl was the first smash to allow 3rd party in, so there was hope that sakurai would work w/ squeenix to get a long loved nintendo/squeenix character in. It didn't happen. It will now probably never happen.

You could always just accept Rosalina as your saviour instead. She does everything Geno does but better, and with more style.

What!? lol

But her hands don't turn into guns and she doesn't throw a sawblade and she doesn't turn into a cannon...

I'm pretty excited for Rosalina. At least one character eating blue who appeared in one game will get into Smash.

Only 9 more days? Its on the 10th right?

Yes. Hnnnnnnnnnnng.

Last nght I had a dream that jigglypuff was the next veteran revealed, and we found out at E3 that her up taunt was replaced by sing, and her down taunt was replaced by rest, and she had 2 new moves as a result. (And therefore 2 of her taunts were actually abilities)

Oh, also, popeye was an assist trophy.
