I get it, though. Nintendo is sending a message, and its a message I can kind of get behind. The message is, Whether you come from a competitive, a casual, free for all, with items, 1v1 fox only on final destination -- it doesnt matter. We want you to play this game the way you want to play it. Enjoy it the way you want to enjoy it. We want to give you that opportunity. And we want to show you that any way you play the game is fine. I think thats great. I think thats beautiful. Its funny, I dont have much to knock on competitive guys about, but we lose some of the magic of Smash when we go into competitive play. I love interaction, l love being able to control my character, I love being able to communicate with my opponent on a deep level -- but casual play is fun, silly, and goofy. You get to watch a friggin Zapdos come out of the Pokéball and say I am the master of all of you for five seconds! Thats really fun. Its kind of silly, but its cool. You get to enjoy that. Its exciting and its visually engaging.
So I support Nintendos vision to help players play the game whatever way they want. And I think its good for the competitive community to see that we can enjoy the game too. I think its empowering to put our competitive guys on there and say, Hey, have some innocent fun. And, at the end, some guys are still competitive and Nintendo says, Thats great. We applaud you. Youve put in a lot of work and we want you to do it your way as well. And I think thats very respectable and very commendable and its a step in the right direction for the growth of Smash and eSports as a whole.
