E3 2014 | Nintendo Digital Event

I gotta be honest here. I'm a little worried. Zelda looks fantastic but I dont see any system sellers coming anytime soon and Nintendo needs them badly. Everything is for 2015. Nintendo had a whole year headstart on next gen consoles. They should be raking in the games at this point. Where is the money hat?! You can't do it yourself Nintendo, fork out some $$$ and buy some more exclusives.

Btw- I just bought a Wii U for Mario Kart, which I absolutely love. I think the Wii U has a ton of potential and I really want to see Nintendo succeed this gen. Here's to hoping they can turn this ship around before getting stomped by Sony/Microsoft.

Hyrule Warriors, Smash and Captain Toad (Bayonetta 2 is not a system seller but for people who like good games..)

Splatoon definitely doesn't look boring, toads game looks a little perplexing. Splatoon shows that Nintendo is capable of putting out some fresh ideas.
Perplexing? It's an entire game of his missions from Mario 3D World. It's actually exactly what people asked for the second the game came out.

So only Bayonetta and Smash for Christmas 2014? Along with everyone else delaying games, 2015 is looking to be 1998-tier.
My thoughts exactly. As it stands right now, I have no reason to buy a Wii U until mid-2015. Also, IMO, in the absence of any sort of gameplay demo, there is a strong possibility Zelda gets delayed to 2016.

Wii U will probably be cheaper in 2015 too

Low poly and bad textures saved by a toon shader... meh.

Eh? Who cares how they make it look good, as long as it looks good. It's a Wii U after all, not and PS4 or Xbone.

A fully-procedurally generated universe of effectively infinite size that is only created as you explore it? There is more to it than that, but it really doesn't take more for it to be more innovative than what we saw out of Nintendo when the big highlights included things like a near-LBP clone and a Mario level editor.

Yes, those two games were the highlights of the showing, not Zelda, Xenoblade, Bayonetta or Splatoon. And I'm reaching lol. Look you may not like their games but they showed that they are all about fun and gameplay. They didn't show any shitty CG trailers or generic shoot bang games. They have a different approach than every body else and that's good for the industry. It was light-hearted and different.

Besides, that had nothing to do with my original post, which commented on a 'teh kiddy' post that reeked of insecurity.

This is the happiest I've been at an E3, and probably my favorite E3.

Microsoft had its best conference in years, and wasn't terrible
Sony did outstanding for the second consecutive year
Nintendo impressed and wowed me more than any other, something I never said at the end of an E3.

Just wow. I'm so happy.

The big highlights are the same game twice?
Cool.

I was referring to Yoshi's Wooly World. Splatoon was the most creative thing they showed and it's a team-based shooter.

Xenoblade got a trailer, Zelda didn't even really get that much, Bayonetta is known, and I've already commented on Splatoon (although mark my words, it will be sent out to die). As a Nintendo fanboy growing up I hate to be this jaded, but it just looks like they've got nothing left.

What are people watching now? All I can see now on Twitch and Youtube is the Treehouse event starting at 7pm UK time.

Fixed for you.
Hey I actually quite liked it too.

But Nintendo + Robot Chicken is never something I'd guess in like a million years.
Although Star War + Robot Chicken...

I must have missed the part where Uncharted 4 was announced for XB1, PC and Wii U.
You must have missed the part, where I said that the WiiU isn't worth the money for just about 1 game per year, that's actually intriguing to the individual.
The WiiU only has the few Nintendo games, so going by the logic that it's existence is justified just for those select few franchises, Ubisoft and EA could as well release consoles of their own.
Have the Ubisoft Open-World-Machine for Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs and Far Cry and the EA Sports-Machine for FIFA, Madden, NBA Live, etc. etc.

Just caught up with some of the news. So far:
MS: 12/10 (Kamiya is love, Kamiya is life)
EA: 4/10
Ubisoft: 6.5/10
Sony: 5.5/10 (i'm bumping my grade down)
Nintendo: 9.5/10 (was originally 8.5 but bumped it up because I just saw Itagaki's new game is Wii U exclusive)
Of course if news of the new Star Fox comes out I may just bump Ninty past my Kamiya obsession.

Nintendo showed more playable female characters than Sony and Microsoft combined.

Hyrule Warriors alone had three female and one male.

Gaming journalism pls

Low poly and bad textures saved by a toon shader... meh.

Saying this underneath a screenshot of an amazing looking art style just boggles my mind. Fishing for numbers and figures rather than enjoying the beauty of the image presented is crazy.

Also if the Metroid pin hint tomorrow = surprise game, then HOLY SHIT.

The most important thing to me was to see the new Zelda, and they absolutely hit it out of the park.

But I can't help but be disappointed about where they're devoting their resources when they show a Yoshi game that again looks like it falls short of the original, and Splatoon which doesn't appeal to me at all. I actually love how the Captain Toad game looks, but not enough to buy the console for.

All of these efforts just seem so small compared to what the line up would've looked like on past consoles, with, well, the typical stuff people have mentioned. Metroid, Paper Mario, F-Zero. Even the StarFox game doesn't sound like it's a major effort like StarFox 64 was.

Nintendo's games seem very polished as always, but I still don't see anything that makes me have to have a Wii U, until Zelda comes out that is. Then it's automatic.

I don't know if it's only me that noticed, but I thought it was cool that Nintendo put some good emphasis on female characters for this Direct.
For instance, in Splatoon and Hyrule Warriors, you can play as male characters, but the focus was primarily on the female characters.

And then Palutena will be Kokonoe.

I enjoyed all three shows, but I have to say Nintendo was my favorite. Nothing shocked me or caused me to go into a fanboy frenzy, until I they showed Zelda. Their 2015 line up already looks amazing. Wii U has a bright future and I think it's time for me to pick up a Mario Kart Wii U bundle...

Just realized, no FE X SMT. I guess thats understandable, sounds like something they would reveal near TGS time.

The reveals worked on me though, i'm looking at an Amazon cart with AWD Wii U deluxe, Wonderful 101 and Mario Kart 8. Fighting urge off, must wait for Black Friday.

So this year we will have Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta, Smash and Captain Toad? Am I missing anything?

Not the worst line up (lack of third parties not withstanding).

I liked Nintendo's conference the best. Wish we had seen some Zelda gameplay and maybe some Xenoblade Chronicles, but overall it bested expectations.
