I'm not on any team. I honestly think TeamFake should win because the models are completely not identical.

Only other explanation I can think of is you all use your amiibo before the match starts (which wasn't what the trailer showed). They also talked about the fact that you can take your own amiibo over to your friends house. So with the assumption that amiibo usage isn't unbalanced, it's plausible that multiple gamepads could work, but for some reason I doubt it. There's probably some other work around or something they haven't told us about the feature yet.

It's a lot more reasonable to say that someone made a convincing fake based on highly speculated character. If they look alike it's because they're both depicting the same character, and nobody will ever be able to conclusively prove that it was or wasn't an in development shot, so that's just moving the goalposts so that nobody can win.
But honestly I'd just like to see the hashtag debates finally get dropped because it's all a load of nonsense.
I don't believe they need L canceling and wave dashing to be a competitive fighter

We can only hope. At least they'll have movesets already made, they'll just have to figure out how to up port them (which, sadly, is probably a large portion of the work).

Wavedashing was never going to happen and the importance of l-cancelling in the context of the game design is greatly diminished when landing lag is almost nonexistent, which pretty much every round of footage so far has lead us to believe.

There's still the tournament and roundtable to go through, but it's sounds like they threw a bunch of stuff at E3 to see what sticks.

We've seen maybe 30 minutes of footage and had impressions from people who haven't even played for a day.

Eh... he got Villager, Mega Man, Wii Fit Trainer, Little Mac, and even got the name "Mii Fighter" right.
He never said all of the other characters are coming this E3, although they certainly could.

No l-canceling/wavedashing does not mean non-competitive. Just because you have a limited imagination doesn't mean Sakurai does. There are tons of ways to make a Smash game competitive than just keeping the gameplay the same as Melee.
I'm all for people modding games as long as they own them, but I do hope online for Smash 4 Wii U remains unhacked for at least a few months, so the community is uniform, with the side benefit of not having to worry about people cheating (I think some of the older Mario Kart games had this problem?).
*edit* I also forgot, the longer it takes for a mod version to come out, the more time there is for a community as a whole to give an entire game a fair shake. I don't like quick balance reactions, in MOBAs -or- fighting games.
Project M's basically a really fun expansion pack to Brawl. Why wouldn't people want that to happen again?

I won't lie, I'm a little bummed that there's no l cancelling, but it's not even close to the end of the world. Melee was a great game, but Smash 4 can be a great game without imitating Melee. And I'm extremely optimistic for it! It looks to be pretty fast and it has hitstun, and in my eyes that's some pretty solid foundation to make a good Smash Bros.
"Participating" characters seems to imply the latter, but we'll see in... 4 months.

Apparently landing lag has been cut a bit, so L Cancelling isn't really even necessary. And I've heard many times that wavedashing isn't a huge game changer either...
I don't think it does. Sakurai referred to Zero Suit Samus as participating.
Hell...not liking DLC...mentioning internal discussions..."participating"....is this dude Sakurai lol?
