Yeah I'm finding dying to super's to feel very cheap to me. Though they aren't as frequent, yet.

Titan smash thing feels like the win-button. Not a fan at all.

Hunter light gun is 3 quick kills since each shot is an instant kill.

Not sure how I feel about it. You can only do it twice a match or so so it's not too bad. Just a blue shell of doom that everyone will eventually get and you can't really avoid

The image quality is ridiculously good.

Bungie knows how make sky boxes better then most. So good.

I keep hearing that the Titan's SP is OP in MM. Cause of the area spread.

Giant Bomb quick look really got my attention. Still cranky about it not being on PC but will probably pick up the PS4 bundle.

I don't buy the whole spiel about Destiny not being on PC. When I was watching the Giantbomb video Bungie's choice of a moving cursor for UI navigation spoke to me of forethought given to PC controls.

Certainly not gonna buy 3 PS4s just so I can play with my brothers.

I think the lethality of everything will definitely change the overall pace from what people are used to or expecting from Bungie. I'm not sure a pure deathmatch will feel fair. I think the objective nature seems somewhat necessary given the balance of what I've played. If it was just death match, some of the deaths will feel trivial.

Yeah I thought the same thing. I don't really like the faux cursor UI choice either. I think I'd have preferred snappy dpad selection of things.

This may have been answered but, does the shooting feel "beefier" than in Borderlands?

I'm hoping the game feel is closer to Halo than Borderlands where I feel like I'm shooting elemental darts at spongy robots rather than the punch of the AR or BR in Halo

The way they do the menus it actually isn't so bad. Gives it a bit of personality.

Personality yes. I think it was done that way to drive the parallexing illusions in the menus. They're are subtle and gorgeous, but I think I'd rather snappy function over form. With Bungie, I'm sure there was a reason for the decision.

Wait, the alpha has competitive multiplayer, which is sectioned off into maps (hopefully they are quality maps, and not simply tapered off from the bigger levels).

If Bungie can somehow make a game with SP, co-op, and competitive multiplayer all in one seamless package, that will be seriously impressive.

They seem to focus a lot on co-op, but I hope they can get a well rounded message out there. I want a strong competitive multiplayer along with the co-op and SP.

Edit: reading some impressions on here, I'm disappointed that competitive carries over your progress from the rest of the game. That just screams imbalance. What I really loved about Bungie was the simplicity and balance of their Halo games, and I never see that these days with perks, unlockables, loadouts, etc.

Man, it really sucks they decided to not even include one of the classic control schmes from Halo.

Seriously Bungie, is it really that hard to implement a couple of the classic control schemes?

It's almost like they made a different game! jerks!
It may be a different game, but it has exactly the same amount of buttons, and the same kind of actions as the Halo games. It should be very simple to implement a classic control scheme, if they wanted. Right now, every available control scheme is a variation of the COD games. Not even one of the classic control schemes... SMH.

Having never played Boderlands this answer is pointless... But shooting thus far varied. Shooting the devil walker was lame and didnt do anything for me, shooting the hive so far has been the most rewarding.

Watched the zone control MP vid. Watching the game everything in the world seems so ... DEAD. Can't help but feeling that the game leaves me cold. There's no energy or excitement, no hook!

What one?

That's one thing I noticed. Get some animal life in the Bungie! Tho when you strike missions the game looks so intense and fun.

Watch the GiantBomb one instead if you have not already. Shows off what the whole hook is.

somewhat agree sadly. I havent found my MP hook yet either. The hook is absolutely in the looting and character progression. I'm way more drawn to that aspect of things.

Another thing that should be said, EVERYTHING about this game has an air of maturity around it compared to halo so far. Doesnt have that goofy touch of the grunts, shooting the needler, grunt birthday party. Things like that. I'm completely ok with that. But that is something I'm not sure I was expecting.

OPI is the best.

...

As for multiplayer. If I had to name one thing I'm not sold on about Destiny, it's that. It's...okay. Not sold.

My main problem with the multiplayer stems from two things: there's no distinctive philosophy behind it, and two game mechanics rub each other the wrong way.

By no clear philosophy, I mean that for the mode I played, there's nothing really distinctive about the multiplayer. Everyone is just thrown in with different weapons and abilities and then tasked to play a mode. Additionally, and some of this is because I haven't played the game enough, but the multiplayer is too random for me to enjoy. I never know what to anticipate, so the experience can get frustrating to me in that regard.

Those issues might be workable for me if it weren't for the second problem: contradicting gameplay mechanics. Destiny has ADS, so you have to slow down if you want to be really accurate, and hip-firing works like bloom in Reach. You're also very, very maneuverable. It's hard to slow down and be precise when everyone is jumping around and sliding everywhere. It makes the multiplayer's gunplay frustrating. This is a problem in the campaign-like modes, but manageable because you're facing AI. I can be maneuverable and accurate against AI without using ADS.

Sounds like a lot of this can be solved by simply restricting certain abilities/features, no?

Everyone should start off equally, and have equitable opportunities to maneuver the map! It's the philosophy in Halo that I sorely want to see in competitive multiplayer games. I hate this idea of innately being better simply for playing more in the rest of Destiny's mode.

Simplicity goes so far, I hope Bungie can tune the MP properly. It's clear that it was never the focus, but I hope they can get some proper feedback to tune this to become a recognizable staple.

I just really want a Halo-esque game on my PS4

"That wizard came from the moon."

Question: Is the quality of the loot you receive dictated by how well you do in a strike?

there is some comedy there, some of the armor have really funny titles and stuff. One of the hunter cloaks makes fun of warlocks for example. Lots of tiny things.

Same with the soccer ball and beach ball in the tower.

Yeah I figured it was all there, but its much more subtle this time around.

Eh, I'm sure Peter Dinklage's character, Ghost, will provide comic relief even if it's some super stale comedy.

No idea actually. You can definitely choose a difficulty booster for the strikes for glimmer and XP rewards though.

I hope it is, actually. That encourages better teamwork and planning so you don't have to grind it. Just get in there once, nail it, get the best loot available in that section then get out.

I'm predicting plenty, because there really isn't much they can do with the other planets in the Solar System.

You assume this because?

They way I hear it there are at least 3 planets in this solar system to explore, and hopefully we'll eventually be able to take the fight beyond our solar system.

this game man.

THIS GAME

It's seriously stunning. It's a world I want to fully explore. I'd say they hit their little talking point goal of "that feeling you got the first time you stepped out your escape pod onto halo"

Or course everyone here will probably want to know every single detail before release and blah blah blah, but I'm glad they've been tight lipped on alot of it

The Giantbomb Unfinished video is really amazing.. wow O_o!!

The traversal looks cool as hell on those boverbikes too. Holy hell I am excite :). Can't wait to play the beta. Or the alpha if I get in on thursday ( fingers crossed ).

I currently watching a few streams on the PSN and I am officially hyped for this game. Might be my most played game this year.

Oh we definitely will in DLC, but I reckon the launch version is going to be heavily focused on Earth and her neighbours then it'll expand out later on.

I don't think you have to worry too much about the alpha lottery. They will throw them out like confetti. Not only is it good for marketing, it's good for stress testing servers prior to the Beta.

I'm back for more.
Thanks for your impressions, Dax. You restored my hope in this game :)

EDIT: Watching GiantBomb. Well it certainly looks gorgeous.
The game is drop-dead gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful game.
A few questions for those in the know/Alpha:

1) How do the weapons feel? I'm super excited about Destiny but.. none of the weapons seem to be doing it for me from what I can see in videos. They don't seem to have the same character or satisfaction -looking at videos of course- as Halo weapons did.

2) Any footage/pictures out there of different spaceships ships/vehicle mounts? I see they're purchasable in the store but I'm not sure if that means the content is even in the alpha. Unlockable/purchasable spaceships has been something that got leaked/revealed a long time ago and we've heard pretty much nothing since. I would just like some photographic evidence!

3) Do we have a definitive answer on transferring 360 saves to PS4 yet? Last I heard it's something they were looking into and.. if you can via bungie.net it would save me a shit ton of money in the fall before I feel there are enough games to justify an X1/PS4 purchase.
1) Weapons are fun to fire for the most part. I really like this one series of shotgun that's like an energy shotgun: you hold it up to charge and it unleashes a satisfying punch.

2) Don't know, but you can customize your ship. Not sure to what extent in the Alpha.

3) Don't know.
Do you know what the frame rate and resolution are?
I'm not a framerate fanatic or a pixel counter, but I think it's locked 30fps and above 720p.
