Ah! He seems like a nice dude, yo. Thanks, man! ^_^

yeah iirc this shit can get you banned

pretty tasteless of you but what ever

I wanted to post something like this, but I actually laughed after seeing that it wasn't a gameplay video. A salty laugh, but a chuckle nonetheless.

Sorry for the bump, please don't kill me. No leaked gameplay but...

I feel that this game is what Agent from Rockstar can be. A story that takes place in different places around the world, with expansive environments to explore, plan and execute missions.

MGS has been awful for the last 3 games and now seems to be loosing/changing it's personality into some overly serious game.

Graphically the game looks great. GZ also made good on the promises on the gameplay, but 5 looks to be taking MGS into a direction I'm not a fan of.

Even these music choices are terrible and give off a sense of self-indulgent seriousness that is tiring. MGS3 has a song that tells you about game mechanics while being a loving parody of James Bond. MGS5's trailers have featured songs that love to hammer the point that "this is DARK and SNAKE IS A DEMON". It's all a bit sad.

I expected a story trailer that would elevate my fears that the story is pointless. Prequels usually are and yet MGS already had a prequel that set everything perfectly. Now comes this game. Is this game going to give us the mind bending revelation that the idea of the Big Shell was stolen! Oh boy!

MGS5 will probably be a good game, but what it means for MGS is almost so off putting that had my love of the series not already be dead, I would be seriously mad at this game. As it is, I just shrug it off and watch MGS as it continues to burn.

MGS3 has by most fans standards one of the most powerful endings ever, and that's despite the game featuring a 100 year old sniper, a villain with electrical powers with no explanation as to how he got them, and a guy covered in hornets that can shoot bees at you.

Metal Gear has always mixed the absurd and grim and somehow it manages to pull it off, I don't see Phantom Pain being any different in that regard.

I think that any hate on the tone of this game is unwarranted. News flash. The Snake you know and loved from the goofy MGS3 turned into a completely different person because of events from that very game. It's been a long time coming and it's gonna be glorious seeing his descent in this game. We've had enough goofy. The tonal shift is warranted completely. And lol. Kojima just picked a son that he likes from an existing artists catalogue. It wasn't written for this game. What song did you expect?

Well put. I have complete faith in Kojima and his team for this. They always seem to pull of that mix.

That goat kills me every time, man!

Any Metal Gear released after the original Metal Gear Solid has been love it-or-hate it. In all likelihood, Metal Gear Solid V will be no different. My guess is that, per usual MGS standards, it will sit at a 92+ on Metacritic, a majority of fans will love it, and a vocal minority will speak out against (in this case) the game's darker tone that, of course, stems from the pre-release "I don't mind (insert subject matter here) being tackled in this medium. I just don't trust that Kojima will be able to handle it." (That's how I see it going down anyway!)
I guess I'm the type to give people a chance and go into these things without an assumption being made one way or the other. That's just me, though. People will feel how they will and that's fine!

I mean...as long as we dont have a fuken cut scene of a diarrhea Johnny getting married to some chick I'll be happy. MGS4 couldve been so good if it toned down the goofiness and didnt include so many chit cutscenes that throw you off the game.
Everything Ive seen so far of MGSV - i feel like Kojima will deliver the game we all deserve and will make up for MGS4

Took the words right out of my mouth. I will still keep an eye out because its almost a habit for me now to keep up with Metal Gear, but I will definitely look at this game more critically than the others after what happened with MGS4 and all.

MGS4, Peace Walker, and Ground Zeroes were all great. PW just had really bad boss fights.
Disagree completely. The only one that was decent gameplay wise was Ground Zeroes.

MGS4 has many problems, too many in fact. Story wise it's an abomination that craps on pretty much everything before. Gameplay wise it drops it's already half assed new mechanics for boring levels that lose any stealth aspect the game had going on. Oh and terrible boss battles. PW of course has terrible bossess that are tedious, not hard. Of course you can grind missions to make better weapons. Grinding is already a bad idea in MGS, but you'll be grinding some of the easiest and almost non-existent stealth missions ever. In the PSP version you can almost just run up and cqc people. In the HD version thanks to good controls you can just go into a corner and shoot people. The levels are so small it's possible. The story is just made up of further retcons that crap over things in three.

GZ. Well I'm not even sure what the story was in that game. I know it was un-intersing though. Dosen't matter, can't really judge 5 mins of a bigger story. Gameplay was good though even if it's taken out certain MGSisms.

Correct and I didn't need anymore games after three to explain Big Boss. That game does it very well and leaves nothing to the imagination. Yet despite MGS3 being serious at times it did'nt shy away from being silly and over the top.

Nothing shown in MGS5's promo's takes away from the fear that this one will be overly serious and not drop the absurd aspects of previous games. The trailers and Kojima's own words on the matter suggest otherwise.

Also why should the change come? Why does MGS need to lose part of it's identity to become like millions of other gritty games we already have?

Because I'm pretty sure the whole point of this game is to show how a hero becomes a monster. There really is no other way Kojima could do this well without it being campy as shit.

I already saw Big Boss become a fallen hero in MGS3. I don't think I needed to see it spelled out for me. GZ came off worse then campy, it came off as trite.

But yeah you're right, but even then I'm not sure why the game had to be that story at all.

I already say Big Boss become a fallen hero in MGS3. GZ came off worse then campy, it came off as trite.

Sure a fallen hero, but really not a horrible person he's supposed to be by Metal Gear. If they took the whole child soldier + abuse thing with the normal MG tone I'm pretty sure this game would get A LOT of negative controversy.

"1.Mother Base can be attacked at any time
2. You can train your troops
3. You can Fulton anyone and anything
4. You can lose recruits in attacks if Mother Base defenses aren't up to snuff
5. There will be an economy system to pay for Fultons, Supplies, Motherbase Upgrades
6. You can tour your entire base in game mode at your leisure.
7. Fulton Recovery is @ 80% on good weather.
8. Fulton Recovery is less than that in bad weather
9. Fulton Recovery is 0% indoors/underground"

Jesus christ, I need this now. NOW.

Imagine, walking in a barn, you find a goat. You fulton that goat, the balloon fills up, and takes off. It hits the ceiling, pops violently and that goat falls and breaks its neck. The noise is loud enough to attract guards. All they'll find is a goat with a broken neck and a dent in the ceiling.

Imagining that makes me want the game even more. The level of detail this game will have will drive me crazy.

You mean PW, right?

Nope. PW is just a further "lets spell it out". The end of MGS3 already tells you everything you need to know. It tells you in one cutscene that Big Boss has changed completely. That he's lost all faith in the systems he previously was completely loyal to. At the begining of the game Boss even claims that he is so loyal to the President/ruling party that without question he would follow thier orders.

Yet at the end of game we see that Snake wants nothing to do with them. He won't shake thier hand. He's pissed off, the boss was betrayed by them in his eyes. Everything he believed is shattered.

It's pretty easy to see from there why he takes up the creed of the boss and does what he does in MG1 and MG2.

Or it would have had PW and PO not come in change things around, because at this point I don't even know what the character Big Boss is since PO and PW keep changing the characterization. And also changing what operation Snake Eater was. None of this for the better as things become even more convulated. After 3, everything was pretty
simple.

But those things are already in older MGS games. I also never got the impression of him being some monster from the previous MGS games including 4. But then again this is a series that made the friendly people on your support team from MGS3 into the entire series over arching villians somehow.

I feel bad for laughing at this.

I love the fulton restrictions. I can see them placing some nice stuff behind that...deliberately planting S rank medics and whatnot deep inside somewhere and having us sneak in and carry them out to capture.

If the recruting is as addicting as it was in PW, Im sold. If its deeper, even better. If it ties into the phone app so I can play all day, well fuck.
