me and two other players just got slaughtered twice in the defense mission. I just turned it off after we all died the second time. it's fun but I don't understand this game.

I wish Bungie would swap L2 and R2 for the speeder bike controls. Accelerating with L2 and braking with R2 goes against what racing games have been doing for years

There are several control schemes in the Options menu but I don't know if there's one which changes just that.

holy shit how did I not notice this, I thought something felt off.

were the controls like that in any of the Halo's?

Finally got to try this out after watching it slowly download for the past 16+ hours. (I guess that's what I get when I try to download this and a 13 GB Dead Rising 3 update at the same time.)

The open-world is pretty cool (as is driving around in it with the awesome hoverbike) but there's not really much to the missions beyond "go here > kill randomly spawning enemies > repeat". I'm also not sure how the multiplayer is supposed to work... I see people running around and sometimes help them fight, but afterwards everybody's off doing different things so the camaraderie doesn't last for long.

Haven't tried out the PS+ mission yet, but so far I'm not amazed. At least everyone else seems to be having a good time with it.

This.

As soon as I jumped on my speeder bike, my instinct was to use R2 to accelerate and L2 to brake. I can't imagine what Bungie thought the benefit was to reversing it.

Oh and now I got the option to upgrade my weapon. Does anyone know what triggered that?

If you use a certain weapon enough it'll give you upgrades for it.

Bungie was probably thinking that's what they've done for their other games so they did it here.

I think its just weapon use. It has progress bars of when things will unlock when you press Triangle to view the weapon I think. I'll have to jump back in to be sure.

My first instinct was to use L2 to accelerate because of Halo. The sparrow is modelled after the ghost in Halo, in which the Right Trigger was used to shoot (naturally) and Left Trigger accelerated.

Actually, the Pike in Destiny controls exactly like the Ghost from Halo, with guns and boosters. It would make sense for the Sparrow to have the boost button be the same as the Pike.

I was really unsure about this game before this alpha. It alleviated a lot of my fears and I will pre-ordering Destiny for sure now.

The aiming and movement feels dead-on to me, and the level in the alpha seems gigantic. I've been having a lot of fun just trying to explore the whole place.

Played a few hours again tonight, this time in a squad with 2 other people off Twitter. So much more fun than playing on your own. Holy hell i can see myself becoming addicted to this. Even just standing around dancing is so much fun. Did a raid too where you fight a giant eyeball thing at the end. Really cool.

Man i can't wait for this game now

Is there an official thread on bungie.net for feedback?

At the moment I'd like to leave PSN feedback. As in - PSN SUCKS! Come on, Sony, get it back up. I wanna try to get the bounty for not dying on the strike mission.

This is why they shouldn't have given PS4 four days earlier access to the beta. Should have given us four days extra at the *END* of the beta when hopefully most of the server issues had been worked out.

Oh wow so if I can't connect to the severs I won't be able to play? Not a fan of this but it is the proper step in the direction of having everything online and cloud gaming. If Destiny can pull this off and other AAA games can then we might one day see a console that is always connected if this becomes the norm.

How is it Sony's fault? I thought bungie hosted the servers

How to get to the cool car area, by Gaz_RB:

1) Spawn in Explore mode.

2) Head to the right for awhile until you see a building on the edge of the area that leads to the next area.

3) Walk through the linear connection hallways until you get to the next area, The Divide, which is sort of a wide open area with lots of enemies around.

4) Head to the right from where you entered again, towards the edge of the area once again. The cliff/water should be on your right. You should see burnt out tanks. On that far wall to the right by the burnt out tanks, there is a sort of cave entrance thing that's kind of hard to spot. Head through there and it's just a linear connection to the car area.

This is my favorite area in the map and I'm glad people are pointing this out :) Quoting so everyone sees :P

That one kicked my ass a few times too. For me the key was
prioritizing the snipers in the back, and taking the high ground before those invisible double-blade fucks gang up on you can cut you to ribbons. I also saved up heavy ammo for the space wizards. Also saved my super for when I was getting rushed or needed to clear some space to revive a teammate.

Crazy thing is, that area is just warmup for the boss ahead.
And that's not even THE boss, though you'll use up all your ammo by then anyway.

Weird about PSN. I'm playing on the Battlefield Hardline beta and connected no problem. I was about to switch to Destiny but it seems no one can play?

Anyone know what the Grimoire Cards are for?

I'm wondering about this too. I think they keep track of certain accomplishments but Im not sure. I know there is info on alpha.bungie.net, just haven't looked at it thoroughly yet

Finally received my code half an hour ago, downloaded and installed in 15 minutes but have spent the last 20 trying to connect ... I hope this is an Alpha related thing

But not everyone has played Halo

I really like exploring and the atmosphere of Russia, but even as someone who likes FPS games, I find the combat kind of tiresome. Getting huge MMO vibes with the rapidly respawning enemies and that whole hub area too.

Thought the Devil's Lair mission was pretty cool, loved the end boss of it - it did very well switching to attack new players, you really had to keep up the pressure to flank it.

I think there are some definite improvements to be made, especially in the respawn timers for enemies, but I think there's promise here. The whole aesthetic, town, and UI reminds me of Too Human for some reason. That's not a bad thing for me, I loved that game for what it was.

For everyone that can't connect to the server, go to settings --> Network --> Test Internet Connection. A friend of mine told me this and it fixed my issues. Don't ask me why or how.
