I like Dinklage and for the most part his emotionless robot voice is fine but some of the lines and the delivery is cringe worthy. I don't know if this is because it is bad or if it is because I picture a bored Tyrion reading off a parchment.
Because it's Alpha so he wasn't bothered. Wait till the full game, his delivery will be amazing!

I jest.

I'm missing some of the wide open, massive scale battles of Halo, but since it's an alpha that stuff is yet to come. Gunplay is fabulous, and the world is terrific to explore, if a bit homogenous given we're only seeing a small part of it. Have not noticed much tearing or framerate drops except when the action gets very heavy with more than one human player. This is easily the most polished Alpha of anything I have seen.

I fought a Walker in an event near the Rocket Yard, but how do I play the Strike mission?

From Orbit, go to Earth and choose "the Devil's Lair" mission. It's above the other 2 choices and is marked by a blue symbol. Good luck with the Strike!

When I first launched the game I skipped the email creation for Bungie.net since I have one. Now I no longer get the prompt in game. My PSN id is different then my XBox email addr although my PSN is linked through the same old Xbox email login. How can I get them to match up?

Great demo. The boss fights in the dungeon took us a while because we had ammo issues but it was a lot of fun. Fantastic art direction, plays and feels like Halo. I was honestly surprised by how big the map was.

I wish there was more collectibles and the loot was physically in the game Borderlands style instead of just thumbnails.

MP has fantastic potential.
Arrrg, so conflicted about whether I should pre-order this or not. More like Halo is a wonderful thing.

Go into orbit after beating the story mission. Unless you did that already. Then click on the strike mission in locations.

I played some pvp a little while ago and 3 other people were in the gaf clan. I wondered if they were really destinygaf or if people are just joining becuase it's a popular clan

If you saw hypotc with 400 grimoire score, thats me! :)

I can't get enough of this game. Pre-orders will be made, betas will be played!

this is confusing but if you are asking if you can have your xbox and ps accounts linked under one bungie account then yes you can

Favorite moment of the alpha so far:

My friend and I were in the middle of a side quest when a Noble Dead Walker falls in. This is the second time we encountered this mighty mech. (Third for me but it was with someone else.) We failed miserably the first time around. We were outgunned and outnumbered. Nothing we did hurt the bastard. So you can imagine our reactions when it dropped for a second time. My gut told me to get the hell out of there only for the two of us to see our salvation. Three heroes emerged from the dark tunnels before us. They came out guns blazing, popping Valants and Shanks alike. It was in the midst of that battle where my crosshair crosses sight with one of their own. As the mech roared behind us, an alliance was born. Five strangers all valiantly fought as one cohesive unit to take down that mighty beast. We were all outnumbered but not outgunned. With just 1 minute and 47 seconds remaining, the Noble Titan finally fell. All five of us gathered around its body and we performed the dance of victory. Mere seconds later, we bid farewell to one another, the two teams leaving down seperate paths.

I will never forget you three, valiant strangers!

I thought it was really polished. I didn't run into any problems and thought the game ran well. I had a lot of ammo issues but got through most of the things available in the alpha.

I think they're going to execute the release well, it's hard to tell with this alpha how massive the world will be and how much more entertaining it will become.

I don't mean to put words in your mouth, but I am trying to understand what you're saying. Having the option to be put at the entrance of a building to have to go into orbit, when you could just cut the middleman and go straight directly to orbit, seems like a roundabout way to solve...the believability of going into orbit from anywhere on the map?

I prefer to stay there till I find the exit or continue exploring enabling sidequests or finding rare materials after the boss like a real exploration game.

Unless this isnt an exploration game and its about go find the boss then there is nothing there then you are right.

Much to my surprise I got an alpha code this afternoon. I don't like playing FPS games on consoles, and I couldn't have cared less about this game, but after giving it a try I've gotta say it's pretty entertaining. I'll definitely be playing more over the weekend.

First impression, not bad but i am so terrible at FPS... I dont know why... Just so much better at 3rd person. I think this game would really invite a whole new group of players if 3rd person was an option.

For me though, even with all these great things that Destiny has, i cant really do FPS and dont see myself picking this one up. I know i sound like a baby. Oh well.

This game needs more Moa's.

Random wildlife in the world helps make the environment feel alive. After playing it for a while, I'm surprised the game doesn't really have this aside from some birds scattering. Even some crabs or fish along the coast... something would be nice.

Hmm, did this become an open alpha or something? I just hopped on the PS4 to play MGS and randomly had a message for Destiny Alpha....downloading now.

Meh level 8 now I'm bored.
I dislike the bullet spongy nature of the enemies for the most part.
Game is mostly fun but I agree that the bullet sponge nature of the enemies makes it a slog at times. And god forbid you die and have to repeat a section. It's just not fun pumping a thousand more bullets into the same enemies.

So in versus mode on the Rusted Lands map, everyone gets to use their special ability, except for me 'cause I can't use the speeder bike on it? That is so not fair. Am I missing something?

Sweet, I just randomly got an email invite, I didn't even apply. Maybe because I played a bunch of Killzone online recently? Or just luck of the draw?

Downloading now.

How do I unlocked more PvE missions? Is it just go down to Old Russia every time? I only did the first mission and I'm currently only find the Crucible as my only thing to do.

Was that just a couple of minutes ago, because we just dropped one of them and everyone was dancing. Hahaha

Sparrows are not supers. Everyone has them. Once you unlock your super in your focus(go to the upgrades for your subclass in your inventory if you haven't), you should have a super bar that fills blue and glows yellow when full. When it's full, you can use your ability which differs between classes. By default this is mapped to L1+R1.

Ok, now people are starting to troll with the shotgun on PvP. I walked into a room, and a guy ran behind me and shotgunned me. I was dead in 1 hit. Then I was capturing a flag, and an enemy was right behind me, taunting me. When I turned around to shoot, he blasted me with the shotgun. 1 hit kill.

The shotgun needs a nerf. I thought that it was maybe my armor, but it's definitely the shotgun. I'm a lvl8 titan, with over 150 armor. How about 2 shots to kill instead? 1 to destroy the shield, and the next to kill.

Haha! They can't. I believe the only people who can hear you are in your fire team.

Phew, that was a close one.

Played it last night.
Stopped after about 60 minutes and immediately pre ordered it. Thanks to $40 in reward zone certificates I had at Best Buy I paid $23 out of pocket for the game. Truly feel like I got the deal of the century. And it comes with a $10 certificate. This is why I will personally never go all digital.

However I digress.
It is Halo meets Borderlands, and it is damn fun.
Played great. Looks very good. Atmosphere was great.
And I was not expecting to not like it as much as I did. Although the FPS genre was my favorite at one point, I have been burned out on it something major the past few years.

Perhaps I owe it all to The New Order, as it alone is responsible for me truly loving the genre again, or perhaps it is just that good of a game.
Whatever it is I stopped playing as I prefer to experience things in the full retail version if it is a game I plan on playing.
Looking forward to check the full game out.

There is only one story mission in the alpha. You can go back down to Old Russia and explore/find new areas, as well as complete the beacon quests scattered about. (Which can be found by hitting the touch pad).

Once you are Level 6 you can attempt the Strike mission, which is like a mini raid with bosses.

When you choose Old Russia on the first area of the map, you're offered three sub-options. One's the story mission you open with, one's free-roam of the Cosmodrome area and the third is a Strike.

The Crucible just feels so unbalanced and just isn't fun. TTK is just way too low, especially since not everybody starts with the same gear. Whichever side starts with the most lower level people usually got crushed in the matches I played.

- insane amount of aim assistant, never played a game with more

Yeah this was my very first complaint with the game after only playing a single mission. I couldn't believe how strong the magnetism was. I guess they really want anyone to be able to shoot no matter how bad they are at the game.

If they're that close anyways, they can just shoot melee and kill you instantly anyways, that's what I've mostly been doing.
