Official Destiny Alpha Withdrawal Thread

Does anyone know what the trading cards you can redeem on your account are for?

For those who haven't been following Destiny too closely, like me, Bungie has apparently been giving out cards at events with codes on the back that you can redeem at bungie.net. The codes aren't one-time use so you can grab them from here and add them all to your account.

Yes i don't know what they're for but there was a thread on gaf when they first started popping up. Can someone link to it I'm on my phone right now.

Alpha was absolutely incredible, completely 180'd my opinion on the game. Can't wait for Beta.

Solid first post. I think this encapsulates the feelings of many people here, myself included.

Debating about skipping beta so I can go in fresh on release.

I'm actually debating this as well. If they do drop us in a different zone at a higher level I may poke around a bit but I don't think I'll pour as much time into the Beta as I did the Alpha simply because that's more time sunk that'll end up getting wiped come September when I could be spending that time playing some other games that I know are going to get neglected when Destiny hits.

Also, I'm still wondering about the grimoire cards and if their accrual carries over since they don't seem to be challenges that are used to gain bonus stats, etc.. like you see in Borderlands. The alpha site still has all my grimoire points/cards intact and it's attached to my Bungie account that I had to create so... maybe they'll stick on through to the Beta and Retail release? It's just lore stuff that it reveals, right?

THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO CHEER YOU UP! lol

I am partly disappointed how there is no good resource to track all know info.

I feel that Bungie is purposefully quiet on that end for a reason.

A lot of what they've said was back during the reveal, and in terms of context, it's hard to tell how many of it is 'it will be in the first game' and how many will be 'it's part of the long-term plan.'

I mean, all the assets they've showed in trailers so far will clearly make it into the first-game, but I don't think they've showed assets for every location they ever name-dropped. I haven't seen a major ice world, for one.

Sad to say I couldn't even figure out how to use my alternate weapon (I had a rocket launcher for the longest time) but I still had a great fucking time!

I don't think I saw anyone else with a Hand Cannon in the Alpha. If I have one criticism of them is that their reload time is 1 or 2 seconds too long.

I used them a lot myself only noticed two other people using them, and yes the reloads were slow. You could speed it up a little by using certain str based gear... but eh not nearly fast enough at such a low level as 8.

That and Scout rifles exist. Hand cannons need their damage increased by about 25% and reload time dropped a second or two.

Yeah, I equipped a hand cannon the moment I found one. The reload time is a joke. All the other guns look like normal speed but the hand cannon reload looks like its playing in slow mo

No reason to use one over a scout rifle

I dunno I thought the damage was fine. When you hit you can take a good chunk of damage out of people. Problem is you only have to miss 2-3 shots and you have to worry about scuttling away because you've got 5 seconds before you can even fire again.

got a hand cannon, paired it with "reduce hand canon reload time" gauntlets

can confirm tits

I didn't care one bit about this game a week ago and now I am counting down the days until the beta. Bungie got me.

Sigh..,.

I really miss it. I can't wait for release and even the Beta feels like it's so far away..

I pre-ordered this game last year, but now...Now I want to either cancel my physical copy and pre-order direct to PS4 since I can pre-load it and play it RIGHT away..or just buy the game twice and keep one unopened.

I need to get back in this game man...im itching for it.

The problem with the Hand Cannons is that Scout Rifles seem to be far better in accuracy, range, reload time and magazine size, while maintaining the same high damage per shot and occupying the same slot.

Hand Cannons need to go to the Special slot.

I think golden gun holds hand cannons back. Special slot is a good idea though.

I love Scout Rifles.

I preferred the Azrael SR3 Scout Rifle and when I needed Auto, I went Cydonia AR3

Also, I LOVED Fusion Rifles.

Hand Cannons have a bigger knock back effect though. You hit a Fallon with a hand cannon and they can't do anything for a good 2-3 seconds. Makes them easy to run up to and finish off with melee or keep shooting them without them trying to dodge or shoot back at you.

Mained Hand Cannon on my second character and loved it. Think I'll main it for the full game too. Never used it in PvP though, not sure it would be that great against real players. But against NPCs it was so much fun.

Head shots blew the head right off the NPCs as well. Not sure if that happened with the other guns.

Did anyone notice if the damage boost of the rarer weapons actually carried through to PvP?

I noticed the difference in the open world stuff but can't say I did in mp.

All weapons do the same damage for everyone, but the upgrades you get for them carry over into crucible PvP.

Oh I see. Didn't realise there were upgrades for the weapons.

Upgrades that don't effect damage I take it?

So what, rate of fire etc?
