A few pages late, but just wanted to thank you for posting this. And as to the people speculating what it might be for, my vote would be that it would unlock grimoire entries on their site.

I feel nothing for it. Pre-order is only there for beta.. Nothing more. nothing less.

Beta has ti change my mind =/

You aren't the only one. I played the alpha and I still don't get why everyone is going bonkers for it. It's Halo with a new skin, and nothing more. The enemies are boring and stupid (I guess that could just be that it's the alpha) and the RPG elements (if you can call them that) were just bad. There seemed to be very little difference between classes, and the skills did little to enhance the experience. Isn't that the whole point of choosing a class? The only thing I can't think MIGHT redeem this is if it has a well written story.

Having both groups is great, especially considering the 500 limit. Someone should probably create a Xbox One group as well.

Having different groups actually makes sense. That way when you post in the group you know those members can actually play on your console of choice.

Back on topic,

Is it July 17th yet!?
The point being that having different divisions within a single group is possible and the cap on a group is unlimited. That is why there is no specific need to solve the problem of not knowing who is on what platform, because that problem does not exist. That is where this whole argument started. Having multiple groups actually unnecessarily fragments the userbase.

Anyway, I'm just going to stop here ( for real this time ). This is going nowhere, I can't make a thread for the original clan / group because I had no part in creating it, Shadownet will not bother adding a disclaimer and by the time the guys that made the original group come online to make a thread, the member count for the other group will have snowballed ( due to confusion / not knowing about the original group ) in a way that the argument will be 'well, but we have so many members, we can't disband now!' and it will be the default GAF-clan because of numbers and refusing to stop and have an actual discussion. I will not be supporting it.

If you excuse me, I'll now go and be bitter in a corner.

;-(

Sorry for being so grumpy everyone!

Imma start my own clan! I'll call it destinyGAF and destinyGAF ps4 sucks! We will have blackjack and hookers as well!

Lol

Maybe I should make my own clan though. I can revive cartel or farmklanimals from half life 2 multiplayer.

dibs on the clan "DestinyGAF sux"

Someone would just make "DestinyGAF sux" sux"

DestinyGAF Xbox One doesn't have Japanese gamers. They are racist to Japan clan. I hope that title is short enough to fit

The admins in my clan say I'm not.

Step out of the echo chamber pls! Lol

I'm watching you.

"DGAF Clusterfux" will be on that ass in Beta!

hey guys I made a new group to cut down on confusion from the other groups

this is the new official group everyone plz join thx

Incoming flood of GAF groups! I call dibs on HaloGaf'sDestiny

Thanks for the laugh you guys. Moments like this remind me why I'm here and not on some other random forum.

;-)

Are we even sure these groups will be in the beta/final game?

Seems like the alpha groups are totally separate from the main bungie site.

I'm watching you.

Hey! Look over there!

I did not know that, hopefully we can all get it worked out. :-)

Requested to join even though I like the idea of platform-specific group I want to see how both end of panning out at launch to best suit the games ecosystem.

PSN: Crusocus
Bungie: Crusocus

Aren't these just normal groups and not clans?
Just having a glance over at B.net joining these have no effect on your in game Destiny experience unlike the clan feature on the Alpha site.
I presumed most of the talking/planning would be done here on GAF.

Anyway enough of that... I received my beta code today!

The alpha site represents a site-wide update to the current site that will take place in the coming months. Features you saw there, such as displaying DestinyGAF in-game, will be accessible on the current site where you guys created the new GAF groups. When that happens, you'll be able to create smaller groups under the the main one with the "Alliance" system. urk can chime in if anything's incorrect, but that's basically why you can't do anything on the current site yet. It hasn't seen any substantial updates since last summer pending the "alpha update".

Try the game of life.

When life lets me be a glowing white chick who can jump 10 storeys and fly into space, then sure.

DestinyGAF was the first official clan formed for neogaf. Some other guy randomly decided to make a DestinyGAF ps4 clan. Now everybody is confused and/or angry. That pretty much sums it up.

I see, but Wasn't the original DestinyGaf for ps4 aswell? Since it was made for the ps4 alpha?

What has happened here? Can somebody give me a recap?

- DestinyGAF group is created on Bungie.net in anticipation of the Alpha-group being deleted with the Alpha site shutting down. The group is created by Raishin, who promises to pass it on to PsychoRaven when he returns. There is some misunderstanding ( PsychoRaven thinking someone has ‘stolen’ DestinyGAF ), but outside of that no problems arise. A new thread is not yet made for the group because there is not yet any pressure to do so and the people most interested in Destiny are in the Alpha Withdrawal thread anyways. The creators of this original DestinyGAF go offline.

- Shadownet creates DestinyGAF PS4 to solve the ‘problem’ of not being able to know what platform someone is playing on. Some people point out that this problem does not exist, because a single group can be divided in separate clans ( and thus the original DestinyGAF can be divided according to platform without the need for creating a separate new group ), but the recruiting goes on anyways, ignoring the criticism. Both sides repeat themselves several times, but nothing changes. Because there is no thread for the original DestinyGAF and because the DestinyGAF PS4 thread does not have a proper disclaimer, people get confused and some join this new DestinyGAF not knowing about the original one or just to be sure.

- People continue to be confused at how the clan system on Bungie.net works and do not read posts where they are explained. Confusion regarding the clans continues with some people proposing either one to shut down, some pushing for a poll or discussion, and others proposing that there should be as many clans as we want there to be

- I cry in a corner.

- I make a fancy banner and spend way too much effort in writing a recap.

There is also a NeoDestinyGaf group. Like sands through the hourglass.

Edit: I'm pretty sure NeoDestinyGaf is a half-joke group. But in the end, it will consume all the groups. Pretty sure.

I tried to record as much music from the Alpha as I possibly could. This is a collection of everything I managed to get. There were 8 different cues played during the main menu (the first cue was the same every time and was never repeated, the other 7 appeared to be randomly played and repeated after that). In addition to the cues from the main menu, this also includes the music from the in space destination screen, two cues that would play during the Explore mission, and a couple short bonus tracks of miscellaneous music. I apologize if this isn't allowed to be posted here. A couple notes:

  • Most of it is just atmospheric background music.
  • This isn't exhaustive. I missed two cues from the Devil's Lair Strike. Sorry :(
  • Main Menu 2 appears to be the exact same track as Eighth. I included it just in case there are any small differences I didn't catch.
  • Tracks marked as "Bonus" are incomplete cues that were used just as repeating background music during fights. I did some light editing on them to try to make them sound more like complete cues.
