Atlus USA : Persona Q story is canon

In a closed door event during E3, Atlus showed persona q, and a representative also said that the story is canon, but couldnt say why because it would be a spoiler,

The biggest takeaway is that Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth is canon, a representative from Atlus USA explained. However, the representative could not explain why the game is canon, since that would supposedly be a story spoiler.

....What how does that even fucking work considering
Persona 3's ending.

Edit: I'm being told the first trailer explained how this works. Fine, I'll accept time paradox or whatever, but considering P4A is also canon, this will likely end in some bullshit mind wipe. I just can't get behind that.

I don't understand, unless the P3 team somehow time travels to meet the P4 cast given that the games were set 2 years apart.

The game takes place before both games' endings. That would have zero effect.

Okay, then how does that work considering the casts supposedly met for the first time in P4A, which is also canon?

Unless they're gonna pull some time paradox mind wipe bullshit at the end of Q.

I never played much of P3 or P4, but I'm really interested in PQ. This kinda bums me out as I was hoping for a self-contained story. Oh well.

Man if you guys think this is convoluted and full of retcons. Check out the mainline SMT or rather, the entire Megami Tensei timeline.

*gasp* so.. so that means that my percious(persona 3 spoilers)
PERSONA 3 MC CAME BACK TO LIFE!? YAAY I can't wait to find out how it was done, maybe Elizabeth finally found a way. Hope they don't just bs it and go "yea he's back cause we wanted him in the game"

It works because
this supposedly takes place during a time paradox. It happens during both Persona 4 and Persona 3. They supposedly forget about it when it's done.

That's not that much a spoiler considering the first trailer explained it.

EDIT: Am i going insane? I'm like 95% sure it was explained in the first trailer yet so many people are confused.

Look at the start of this trailer.

Most likely.

lol

Ending spoilers

Party returns to there own time, forgets everything. Elizabeth remembers the events as a dream and retells it to P3MC in the Velvet room. P3 cast have a party, even though they don't remember what they are celebrating. The end.

Wait why/how the hell is Dancing All Night canon

This'll be canon in that they do a memory wipe, but somehow someone will remember all the events, thus plunging it all into Persona 5 Arena: DANCING ALL DAY

AWWW it takes place BEFORE P3 and P4!? man, thats weak. Welp, back to hoping that Elizabeth
finally gets the job done
:( still looking forward to the game

We're getting two versions of how P3 and P4 characters meet each other.
They can't remember both for obvious reasons.

Hopefully this wave of games will be the last ones to feature the casts from P3 and P4, and Atlus will move on to new stuff, so whether or not it is canon will be irrelevant.

Yeah, right, I wish...

ENDING SPECULATION (I KNOW NOTHING/HAVE SEEN NOTHING ABOUT THIS GAME):

They do the stupid mind wipe but it doesn't work on either Minato (because then who cares), or Elizabeth (because nothing freaking works on her/such parlor tricks can get stuffed). I don't think it comes up later though.

That is until Persona 5 comes out and we get Persona 5 Arena, Persona 5 Dancing All Day, Persona Q2-My waifu can't be this lost in a dungeon. all featuring the casts from P4 and P3.
