can't believe there are some people on here who are calling this a shit World Cup.... as a Spain fan this world cup has been absolutely fantastic... lot's of "favorites" going down early England, Spain and lots of underdogs doing very well Croatia, Mexico, Costa Rica, United States etc.

Lot's of goals being scored..... it's been a fun world cup so far enjoying it much more than South Africa in general.... I will always love South Africa though :)

It's been an awesome Worldcup so far.

This is easily one of the best world cups, even if the motherland went out early and in disastrous fashion. At least that gives me hope that the team and strategy will be revamped and we won't leave our up and coming youth behind for no good reason. 2016 will be a great year. Until then, this 2014 World Cup has been fantastic and Concacaf has done well, even Honduras. They were fighting for a win, great to see.

the quality has been incredible so far. haven't seen many people complain tbh.

no matter how many times they hear it called football by just about every other nation on earth, Americans can 't seem to drop the 'soccer' monika

To our defense, we got the name "soccer" from the English. Then they dropped it and went with football but by that point we already had our own football. In other words, as always, blame Rooney (or Gerrard).

There is another sport here that is very popular that is called football. It would lead to a lot of confusion.

Personally, I use both terms, depending on who I am talking to.

No matter how many times everyone who complains about it is told it's not going to change and it really does not matter whatsoever, they still can't seem to drop it.

Tomorrow should be a lot of fun, Argentina and Germany can both clinch and will likely do so against relatively weak opponents, and even the late match could be intriguing.

ARG 3-0 IRN
GER 2-0 GHA
NGA 0-1 BIH

I will always hate South Africa. Although we never deserved the win. But that aside I think it was a shitty tournament for the neutral viewers.

Brazil so far is MUCH better. No Vuvuzela helps a lot too.

Totally unrelated to the Honduras vs Ecuador game, but I wanted to share these overall statistics for Distance Covered up to this point in the World Cup:

http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/statistics/players/distance.html

Chile, Netherlands, Australia and Switzerland dominating the top 10. The distance covered by Diaz so far is unbelievable.

No surprise here seeing group B (and maybe A an G too) matches have been played at a much faster tempo than the other groups. No wonder Spain couldn't keep up.

I've seen quite a few complain... for example.

Insigne, Cerci and Cassano have done shit so far. Great subs Prandelli.

Worst overall World Cup I can remember so far. Shit officiating, shit match results, shit bus parking by shin-stomping South-American teams, great teams leaving too early.

Completely agreed. Almost every match has been action-packed, and it looks like a lot of groups are going to come down to the final week which is always appreciated. So far, the only teams out are Cameroon, Australia, Spain, England, and Honduras, and the only teams to clinch are Netherlands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica. and France. That's pretty staggering.

Ah well, without Pulga's sister pics it wasn't a perfect day, but it was pretty damn close. Can't believe I'm experiencing Costa Rica making it to the round of 16 again, and I'm pretty goddamn sure we can make it even further. So much national pride today from literally everyone everywhere. It's a good day GAF. Good day.

I have a hunch that Ghana is gonna give Germany a run for its money.

They'll challenge more than Portugal did, they're far more spunky, but Germany should beat them all the same. As an American, I'll be rooting for Ghana though, as a win gives the US a chance to win the group even if Germany beats us.

...of course, we'd have to throttle Portugal 6-0 to do it and then lose to Germany 1-0, but a chance all the same. Either way, I don't want us to get out of the group stage just to job to Belgium.
