To be fair FIFA lives to fuck up.There was simply no way fifa wouldn't ban with.
Such an overblown issue.
So if Suarez comes down to Old Street and wants to join our five a side game, we can't let him play?
Not at all. Want some cheese with that wine?
You wanna risk getting bitten?
Can we stop talking about Suarez in this thread please.
Yeah let's get back on topic, guys. Can we stop talking about Suarez in this thread please.

bummer for us but understandable
way to disappoint a country by pulling something so unnecessary and just unneeded to win, but that's been luis for you for a while now
lookin forward to sarurday
What is to be done about the blatant cheating that is rife in our football culture today? What is to be done about those that dive and cheat to win games, for instance? What did FIFA do when Suarez pushed the ball away from the net when they played Ghana? A one match ban? It was disgusting.
He performed an action whose guidelines and consequences were specified under the rules of the game, and was dealt with according to said rules.
Amazing that people are still so salty over that. Say what you want about the other stuff, but the play against Ghana was brilliant.
How can you justify the ban based on it being against the rules, and then praise him for breaking the rules v Ghana?

Overall I really don't like Suarez but the decision was too harsh when compared to other ones. A LOT of kicks and punches have been thrown on purpose in this world cup and at most they have been given a card.
And I understand that it's the third time that he has done this, but hey, what's the difference between that bite and a punch or push? I just don't see it.
Football is a contact sport. It involves sliding tackles, shoulder barges and other totally legal actions that may seem right on the edge of physical assault. Accidental elbows to the face are common.Overall I really don't like Suarez but the decision was too harsh when compared to other ones. Does 9 matches pretty much mean he won't play this world cup or the next ?
+ 4months of zero football + 100k fine.
Man that's harsh but he deserved it all the way through.Such acts must be inexcusable.
It's not that harsh either. Leagues will always come down harder on the crazy shit (ie, Cantona attacking a fan).

A lot of us, people. are still "salty" mostly because the defense force for what he did. Yes, he and Uruguay got the consequences stated by the rules, yet it's until this day vomiting to see how a lot of Luis Súarez/Uruguay supporters think what he did was "the right thing to do".
for the record: I still think FIFA is absolute shit and looks the other way in a bunch of other terrible crap, but I can't come here and pick and choose. If they're gonna be like this, tho, and this severe, I hope going forward they're willing to be more thorough with a lot else.
I still remember Cantona getting off easy for kung-fu kicking a fan.

However biting is not. And on three separate occasions no less.
Plus I'd wager if someone actually punched a fellow player the sanctions would be pretty severe (for a repeat offender)
While I am a "Luis Súarez supporter," I wasn't at the time of that play - and that play was one of the things that made me become one.
The fact that he had the presence of mind to do that, was able to do that (I mean, another Uruguay player had tried to do the same thing on that play and had missed), and was willing to do that was a very positive thing.
If he hadn't done it, his team would have lost.
As a result of doing it, his team won.
It was absolutely the right thing to do.
Congratulations in you low moral standards, I guess.
I thought it was 8 months he got suspended for.the Cantona stuff was nothing in terms of punishment, now that's arguable jail time (he got a few hours of community service)
as far as matches go, im pretty sure he ended up being suspended for 6
9 iirc. Don't understand how it's being held up as an example of being lenient. Even if it was its 20 years ago and was handled by the FA not fifa.I thought it was 8 months he got suspended for.
Do you say the same thing to all Basketball fans who promote players fouling each other as a legitimate late-game strategy?
FIFA has nothing to do with the Cantona incident, though.
Sorry, I don't watch basketball, so I'm not aware of what you're mentioning.
So let's get back to football and I can tell you I say the same to whoever thinks that diving and staying in the ground "acting" an imaginary injury just to gain time it's the right thing to do.
I want those practices to disappear.
