Hand warm ups are before matches start. Between rounds, things tend to move pretty quickly. It's basically counter picking characters and stages.

If you need to back out to the main menu to change custom moves, that's something that would take up too much time between rounds, so they will be banned.

True enough. Even still, a long as the extra time isn't "clearly detrimental" to the tourney time constraints, then the community will ultimately decide if it stays or not. Heck, if every match was an extra minute longer because of custom moves, I could still run my local tourneys smoothly can be done by dinner.

Technically CAS are just DONUT STEEL characters using another character's moveset. Them being banned are fine since you're not missing out much.

Miis however have their own moveset though.

Bleh... I've never been into the whole counterpicking stuff. This is why I prefer blind matches :/

Would you been fine with being locked into fox and having to go against a marth on FD in melee without any form of counter picking available?

Smash isn't blind pick for a very good reason, and it's fine for you to be ok with blind pick but it's stupid to play to win at a tournament and then severely handicap yourself.

Also the idea that people will want to play the 3DS version at tournaments over wireless with all that interference instead of playing the WiiU version is ridiculous.

If the TO doesn't make sure enough setups are available for everyone to comfortably play within the allocated time then the tournament is a bust and playing on the 3DS is not compensation, people would just straight up refuse and ask for their money back.

This has literally never happened.

Oh? This happens all the time. It's not so blatantly put, but this is essentially why many changes are made. Bringing over Japanese players for OC3? Let's change our ruleset to be more like theirs. That's essentially saying, they don't like it our way but because they're high level/popular, we'll accommodate them (nevermind that there were only a handful of foreign players at the event).

Why were legit stages removed from early brawl touranments? Because ZSS and Olimar can't recover as well on those stages. That's not a legit ban reason. That's ... certain players who play ZSS and Olimar don't want to learn the stage or pick up another character for counter picks. So those stages were banned (from some tournaments for some period of time).

When you really think about it, all the decisions in a community are arbitrary. Some vote. Others have a small group that calls the shots. With smash, a lot of the high level players have too much influence on stuff like this. At least, this is how it was at specific points in this 10+ year history.

And when tournaments like Apex/MLG/Evo pick a ruleset, that pretty much cements those arbitrary values for a lot of other tournaments. The reasoning behind these rule sets and changes aren't so consistent.

I'm just worried because there are so many custom moves (Not just for Mii) and I get the feeling they're not gonna receive too much attention compared to the standard ones from the devs. Never know if we'll get one that's like the Mach Tornado and the Shuttle Loop had a baby that was blessed with the Holy Ghost of the Infinite Dimensional Cape glitch.

Then you're worried about balance in general not balance of custom moves. Whether a standard move, a custom move, a character, or stage doesn't get enough attention anything that slips through the "all seeing eye of balance" can cause problems.

Also the idea that people will want to play the 3DS version at tournaments over wireless with all that interference instead of playing the WiiU version is ridiculous.

Welcome to the current state of smash locals. Some are great. Some are bust. But I'll tell you this... I've been to many locals that should have been a bust where the players just stick it out anyway.

So tell me, how many tournaments you know of where the players asked for their money back?

What's gonna happen is there will be customization and non-customization tourneys and then the community will settle on one ruleset.

Stupid? No. You're far too quick to throw that word around. However, would it be inefficient? Less than ideal? Sure!
Do you think aMSa is stupid for not playing a top tier? Was Armada stupid for picking peach back when she wasn't considered all that great?

Problem is that I'm not the competitive type. I'm not in these things to win, I just enjoy the challenge and the atmosphere, but if I couldn't do it as the character I enjoy playing it wouldn't be worth it to me. If I end up in a situation not in my favour then I just deal with it, simple as that :3

So to answer your question: If I actually played fox (I don't) and had to go against marth on FD in melee then I would be absolutely fine with it. The problem with your scenario is that you assumed we're in it for the same thing :P
That said, I just pointed out I prefer blind-pick myself. I wasn't saying "EVERYTHING MUST BE BLIND PICK" so I'm in no way disparaging your methods or choice. I just prefer the simplicity and speed blind picking gives me over the tactical element and balance you value from the non-blind methodology :3

I've had some fun random matches. Half the enjoyment is how we have no clue how to actually play the characters we get.

Also, here are my predictions for the end credits songs for each of the newcomers:
Villager: Probably whatever KK Song gets the biggest remix this time around
Mega Man: ???
Rosalina: A unique one, maybe the Observatory?
Little Mac: Training theme
Greninja: Generic Pokemon one
Palutena: Same as Pit?
Pacman: ???
Mii: Smash 4 theme or a Find Mii remix
Chrom: Generic Fire Emblem one
Shulk: ???
Chorus Kids: RHDS menu screen remix

Good catch with the three different WFT trophies. I think it's possible that they come from beating different single player modes ala Melee, but I also think maybe they just made trophies out of the different yoga poses she does.

Yeah, brawl had the normal trophy for clearing classic and the final smash trophy for clearing all-star, I assume we'll get something similar here, too.

Some characters had more trophies (like falco/fox) for their other in-game appearances.

Melee had 3 per character. One normal and 2 more to mention their specials (2 each).

Maybe this game is going back to 3. Maybe even 4 (one extra for the final smash).

Hey, look, brawl haters, smash 4 is doing something like melee :p

It begins with Ridley still being Other M Ridley from the previous gif and ends with him changing to Zero Mission Ridley

I need zero mission on Wii U virtual console :( :( :( I wanna play it on the big screen without having to dig out my old gamecube. When, Nintendo, when :(

Also, your 'Awesome Member' tag leads to a broken link :( What was it supposed to link to?

I think of Wakka when I see/hear "brudda." Me and my coworker always make fun of his dialect.
I hated that guy so much in FFX. And, of course, he turns out to be the strongest damage dealer for challenges. The fact that he somehow was wed to my childhood waifu Lulu still irks me to this day, and I will not play FFX-2 regardless of how many good things I hear about it!

Bros. is the abbreviation of brothers. "Bros" (without the period, plural of 'bro') is a shorter version of saying brothers. Like, "These are my bros!"

Right, except over time, Bro has become its own word separate from Brother, and more importantly, has a long o sound, which is what makes it sound weird in context.
