Joe Six-Pack: posting for the common man
I just received my first Sunday delivery from Amazon.

Feels weird getting a package on a Sunday.

Anyone else gotten them yet?

Yes. I got a PS Vita grip last December. I ordered it on a Friday and got it on a Sunday.

Pretty amazing.

I wish this was possible in Canada. Are they using their own delivery service? Is it an extra thing?

I never even knew Amazon (UK) officially did Sunday deliveries, but two weeks ago one showed up at 10am on a Sunday morning.

Between work address delivery, Amazon Lockers and weekend/evening delivery, they seem to be locking down every possibility. Bring on those drones.

They delivered my copy of GoT Season 3 on a Sunday, the release date was the following day so that was a bit of a score.

Got one a week ago. It's crazy. I dunno who even delivered it, it just showed up at my door on the lord's day.

Yeah, many times now. In London they use their own delivery service for Sundays who have not given me any issues yet.

Got something about six months ago when I started using prime

don't like it that much, as I like there to be a day when I know for sure I can go out and not expect any "while you were out" cards.

These days I hold off if the scheduled delivery date is a sunday

Is Amazon Prime generally worth it, you think?

$99 seems like a lot when it is only a select items that you can use it with....

I don't have it right now, but it's unquestionably worth it if you use Amazon a lot. It's not only a few select items that are Prime eligible, it's the vast majority of items that are actually sold (or fulfilled) by Amazon rather than a third-party seller. Also, you get access to Amazon Prime Instant Video and Amazon Prime Music, as well as the Kindle Lending Library if you have a Kindle.

Yeah the price increase kind of sucked, but I'd say it's still worth it if you order a lot of stuff from them. Two day shipping, and to a lesser extent 3.99(per item) one day shipping, is a godsend. Plus you get prime instant streaming, which is not quite as good as netflix, but is comparable.

No, they signed a deal last year with the USPS (United States Postal Service). USPS is hemorrhaging money so the extra cash is helpful to them.

The only deliveries USPS makes on Sunday is for Amazon.

Yes, as long as you order stuff through amazon. In the US its exceedingly rare that items I have ordered were not on prime.

Also prime video is certainly nice as well.

Almost everything is prime eligible. Getting free two day shipping on a treadmill or any other large item is a pretty great deal. Amazon video and Amazon music are good additions.

O and free shit in the kindle store.

The people delivering Sunday amazon packages are the USPS noobs who probably found out they are working Sunday on the evening before. They've been given 3 routes of parcels in areas they generally don't deliver to and given a strict time allotment that a seasoned carrier would bump up against after taking their 2 breaks and a lunch.

I actually had a pretty good experience recently. I had ordered The Lego Movie back when it was released, along with the Akira 25th Anniversary BD since it was on sale, as well as a game. In my usual cheap way, I selected free ground (non-Prime) shipped in as few shipments as possible. Unfortunately the Akira got held up by backorder, so the whole order was stuck. I sent an email just to ask what was causing it a week later, so the rep responded by bumping everything except Akira to 2nd Day for free, which got to me two days later. Akira shipped a couple weeks later, and was unexpectedly my first Amazon Sunday delivery.

I actually refuse to buy anything that doesn't qualify for prime. I don't like buying stuff that isn't shipped from Amazon itself.

Thats like $8 a month. Amazon prime list is actually quite large and only rarely do I end up with something that isn't prime.

+ Prime video and Prime music...

Very much worth it.

I like it but we get a ton of stuff via prime (toddler) so there are sundays that I don't want to have to think about waiting around for deliveries (first world problems, yes)

Yeah, just got something from Amazon today, too. I thought their tracker was just giving the wrong date.

The convenience of this is nice, but I feel like the weekend will be a thing of the past for 99% of the workforce if inequality trends continue. :/

They aren't legally allowed to put that in your mail box.

USPS are the only people doing Sunday delivery. So yeah, they can put stuff in your mailbox.

Pretty much. I know newer carriers who haven't had a single day off in over three months.

I love it. Helps that sometimes when I order stuff for Sunday I get it on Saturday. Best of both worlds.

I get this all the time in NY. It's a godsend since I cannot receive packages during the week due to work. The USPS also always comes early in the morning as opposed to UPS, which later in the day, and FEDEX, which is completely garbage and sometimes doesn't come at all.

Where is this coming from? I've never heard laws or postal regulations stating that items shipped by USPS might not be legally placed in an approved mailbox.

If the carrier isn't USPS, than yes, I might see there being legality questions.

It's literally my house. If you open up the mail slot on my house it falls into my locked front porch. They always push games through, though. But I have been through some horse shit just to read the next chapter of Berserk.

FedEx, though? Those guys are cool as hell.

Edit: they've been assholes lately because they want you to sign up and pay for a my choice sub.

Whoa. I seriously didn't know Amazon even delivers on Sundays! That's great! I just recently ordered a ton of stuff from them.

Not really. USPS has always done Sunday delivery for a fee. This is probably the same people doing it as before

No, they haven't. And no, these are all new people. USPS won't use their regular mail carriers on Sunday because they would make too much overtime.

You don't know what you are talking about. USPS has always delivered 365 days a year for express mail. Express mail is delivered EVERYDAY. Express mail is even delivered in Christmas and Thanksgiving. It is delivered everyday.

You clearly don't know what you are talking about.
