Disappointed, but not at all heartbroken. This was a great, great game. Amazing defending, with elegant running up and down the field, and chance after chance after chance. I'm sweating just from reacting. The one disappointing thing, the one low point of the game, was the absence of true Messi magic. He made some very good plays that only someone of his caliber could really pull off, yet the magic never manifested when it really mattered.

Nonetheless, Germany is a great team, and I'm not at all sad to see the likes of Klose, Muller, Neuer, etc. become champions. They've graced the tournament with top notch, classy football, and there's really no more deserving team. Congratulations to them.

So happy it was a moment of brilliance rather than penalties that won this tournament. It's been a great one. A group who won the u21s in 2009 coming through together to be victorious through both graft and quality.

Messi had the chance to crown himself as the true greatest but that 1v1 and the free-kick will unfortunately be his World Cup legacy, just as Baggio's penalty was his in '94. Harsh, but that's the power of this competition.
