Argentina has some of the worst fans ever. Started throwing chairs in the fan fest at Rio beach. Saw a kid get hit with a thrown chair and an Aussie near me got king hit as he looked German.

It's the first bit of trouble I've seen all world cup. The Brazilians didn't carry on like this yesterday.

If you want to be liked by neutrals, you have to learn how to lose with some class.

Jesus I am going to have nightmares for weeks.

Haha, James not even top 3. Muller gets the Silver Ball, and Robben gets Bronze.

Think I'd go with Robben as player of the tournament, James 2nd, Neuer or Mascherano (best player of semis/final, easy) 3rd. Wasn't as conclusive as previous years though.

I would have gone either Robben or Neuer. Though Neuer wasn't even nominated!

Already praised them. But, again, expected to create and finish. None of that Argentina midfield could do shit going forward. Di Maria was fucking crap most of the tournament, especially the goal he scored the winner in. Aguero the same. Both also got injured. Without them, all the impetus going forward falls on one man, who is expected to come deep and pick the ball up and then do everything by himself.

Messi didn't high-five anyone. He deserves nothing.

That BBC montage. Fucking chills.

All banter, rivalry, joking etc aside. That to me proves why football is the greatest sport on the planet. Just everything about it. It's been a great World Cup. Truly great.

Russia in 4 years, I want to go but my dealings with Russian people have been horrible had to deal with racism in America, I have dated 2 Russia women and while they were lovely women, their families were not, so I wonder how it would be for a black man in Russia.

It was funny watching this thread when Messi was getting that award. Everyone here was slamming that decision, completely against it even though he either scored or was involved in almost every goal Argentina got this World Cup.

But there was one person that clearly wanted that award even less than any of you wanted him to get it, and that was Messi.

He looked humiliated. If the earth could have opened up and swallowed him whole, he would have been grateful.
Well sure, I think he knows as well as everyone that he didn't deserve it, more likely that he received it due to FIFA's corrupt deals. Hell, even the TV commentators at the time were saying he shouldn't have won it.

People are more pissed at FIFA than him. The dude looked mortified and embarrassed that they picked him.

It was an excellent game, great coverage and extra kudos to the BBC commentators for managing to shoehorn 1966 in. I didn't think they were going to get it in this year but they didn't let us down

but two yellows which both already had

Didn't know he had already a yellow but yeah Höwedes foul was earlier in the game so Argentina would have had a better chance.

The fould on Schweinsteiger wouldn't changed anything.

That's dangerous play, surely a foul. A goalie isn't protected outside his 5 meter box and you can't come flying in like that. If a field player raises his leg too high it's foul too.

Neuer wasn't kicking him. Both run into the other player, can happen basically the same story with Kramer in the first half. There is no reason to try it to turn it into a foul.

Meh. I already got a club and surely isn't one on your list of "real".

MLS, Australian, South America or whatever league, I don't mind. Just join club football, there's so much more than these international tournaments every few years.

So yes, you're real :P

Dangerous play doesn't imply you have to kick a player or hurt anyone intentional. If you come flying in with your leg at a height where it's not supposed to be you commit a foul.

You have to understand, they put everything into this game. Everything.

Look at their main fan song: Unlike every other team in the competition, it's about mocking the hosts rather than cheering for their own team.

I'm not saying it justifies any of this nonsense *at all*, but it just helps shed some light on why it's just a bitter defeat.

Don't be salty now Argentina, we stayed around and endured the abuse our team brought upon us. Try to see the bright side of it.

The bright light glittering from the cup that you saw but didn't get, hueheuheuehuehuehuehuehuehuehueheuhue

Wrong.

1. Not the 5 meter box. It's the penalty box.

2. He got first touch and was within the box.

3. Goalies are taught to jump with knees up like that to protect their body.

I guess, you made it clear which team you were rootingfor against plenty of times. Just stop it.

Just my opinion on the match brosef, you can have yours too you know. Do i ask you to stop cheering for Germania? no so shut up.
