lol, what? Are you trying to invent rules? Touching the ball first doesn't give you the right to tiger knee anyone, you must be able to control your gestures in any situation.

Who was not in control? It is deemed as an offence in footbal if you purposefully jump at a player. Did Neuer jump at Higuain or the ball? It is deemed as an offence in footbal if you strike an opponent purposefully. Did Neuer purposefully mean to knee Higuain in the face?
Did Higuain mean to hit Neuer with his head?

Fact of the matter is had Neuer not made contact with the ball he would likely have been sent off. But he's not generally accepted to be the best in the world for no reason

Anybody who debates this is scratching through the bottom of an empty barrel

Apparently, Messi threw up once again during the final. He doesn't seem to be fully recovered from that injury he had not too long ago.

I think he has mono

Wouldn't be surprised . It happens to a lot of athletes and happened to federer as well

26-30 is when a player peaks physically so i wouldn't be surprised

Im pretty sure its related to his health issues treatment.

What's up with Messi puking on games? It's his third of fourth time on this WC...

I know i'm late but... HELL YES GERMANY!!!

And Messi is such a sore loser, he didn't even shake hands with the crowd as he was walking up the stairs, and had a seriously FU look on his face after the game finished, he should've declined to accept the golden ball too, he didn't deserve it and he knew it.

I read an article some months ago about Messi throwing up occasionaly. According to it, he had it some time now and he consulted many doctors, but nobody could find out the cause.
Messi can play normally after throwing up though, so its not that bad.

Hilarious how people were going on about Argentina's defence and goalkeeper being their weaknesses yet when push came to shove they were all rock solid while their attacking forces fucked up big time.

Holy shit at Boateng as well, didn't quite realise he was THAT good.

3 in a row. 4 of the last 5. All different winners
Well I think some gloating is justified after all that confederation nonsense of the last week, but really this solidifies that we need new financial rules. The top teams have become too powerful, living off tremendous debts and preying on all the other competitions.

I'm glad that Ghana put up the best performance against the World Champions this WC. Ghana has been the strongest African team the last 3 World Cups. Hopefully they don't get discouraged from not advancing to the knockout rounds and instead keep building off the performance they had.

FIFA needs to play the semi-finals on the same day Argentina looked gas at the 70min, while Germany still had a lot left in the tank..

To be fair Germany didn't have much to do in their semi-final.

Boateng had the game of his life. The criticisms of 2010 seem like forever ago.

Aguero wasn't fit. Palacio and Higuain just never were right. The last two games actually (Holland and Germany), the combination of Higuain, Lavezzi and Palacio looked more comfortable hugging the touchlines than they did in the group stages, but they lacked the finishing touch. Lavezzi provided damn good service for the first 60 minutes of that Holland game - just nobody got to the other end of the pass.

I mean, Higuain is just a mental midget so his performance is whatever.

Well, fuck Merkel. She's gonna use that world cup to leverage her position and party, although they had LOTS of shitty stealth decision while the world cup was going on (parlamentarian's salary's gonna be 830€ more per month, 200 pages in the BGB)...

lol, this is ridiculous. so you want him to shake hands with everyone after losing the biggest game in his career. get real. the hate is starting to look silly at this point.

I didn't understand why lavezzi got taken off so soon. He seemed to be providing quite a bit of forward momentum. Was he injured?

Misplaced faith that Aguero would magically become 100% fit and find his finishing touch? I don't know. Argentina looked more dangerous from about minute 20 'til the end of the first half.

- Neuer has every right to go for that ball in the air in the penalty box
- Higuain is standing in his way waiting for the ball to drop down.
- Once Neuer gets to the ball, Higuain commits a blocking foul. Seriously, watch every other corner kick when the keeper comes out. The ref is always gonna call that in favour of the GK.
- Finally, the issue of the "high knee". Some comments asking for a red for Neuer because of that are just comical. Again, watch some corner kicks and in general replays of keepers punching the ball/catching the ball in the air/jumping up etc. EVERY goalkeeper in the world raises that knee when jumping and rushing out. Every single decent one is taught to do so as a kid to protect themselves. If they didn't, the clueless likes of Higuain not aware of the their location would seriously risk injuring keepers. If Neuer doesn't protect himself with the knee, he easily could have been flipped over and in seriously pain.

This needs to die.
Wrong. That only happens in corner kicks because the ball is almost always being disputed in the goal area. Players can't touch the keeper there.

It was either a Neuer foul or a throw in. Higuain, was disputing the ball. It should have been a throw in.
