Lucina, Robin AND FEMALE ROBIN, & Captain Falcon Are Today's Smash Newcomers!

I really wonder what the mechanic is here. Does he just run out of everything but bronze sword if he stays alive long enough? Is he some weird version of ice climbers who is strong at first but once his items (nana) are gone, he's gimped?

He is the only FE character in Smash that doesn't have an unlimited use weapon in his FE game.

Alright, that smash trailer pushed me over the edge.
I need to buy this game, however I am a cheap ass gamer.
Where can I buy it for the best price or should I wait for a deal or something?

It's a Nintendo published game, specifically smash, you either get it used or get it borrowed from someone. Or Amazon drops a couple bucks.

That's it.

DK has 2 characters, Metroid has 2, F-Zero has 1, and Fire Emblem has 5 if you include female Robin. What a load of bullshit.

So far. A franchise being big does not equate to them deserving a ton more characters. Kirby is bigger than Fire Emblem, but only has about 3 characters who should be in Smash. Plus, I'm almost certain DK and Metroid will get a new character.

The trailer makes me wish SSB had that cel-shading style of the Awakening trailer. Looks really nice.

I can already imagine non-FE fans getting confused "Why is there a Marth and a longed hair Marth? Did she really need to take up two slots?"

Gematsu's first leak was true all 6 of his character are there

Gematsu's second/third leak is fake or extremely outdated as he was wrong about Chrom

Gematsu's fourth leak is a big pile of fake as he said it WILL be Shulk today and that was wrong

It's a custom character placed in a game where you can't customize them, which is kinda dumb. Plus Robin was a bore in a series full of better characters.

So is Villager and here we are.

And said "better" characters aren't the main/key characters.

is it just me or is Captain Falcon the best fit for this banner yet? It just works perfectly with his helmet/visor.

You know who it reminds me of?

Wonder Red.

We can give it a pass on it failing to mention one or two newcomers but not 3, imo. Also being outright incorrect basically disproves it. Even if it WAS right 2+ years ago when they learned about the initial proposed roster, it makes it WRONG now since what the leaker proposed is no longer correct anymore. So maybe it was a legitimate leak once upon a time but it's not longer relevant and that's what matters.
LOL. Why would 2 missed characters be okay, but suddenly we get to 3 and it's arbitrarily unforgivable? And besides, the leaker is most likely "wrong" about Chrom in the same way he was "wrong" about Greninja: his knowledge is from early in development. He may have assumed Chrom when he saw that a new Fire Emblem character was going to be in.

Anyway, the leak will be proved correct when Shulk and Chorus Men are confirmed.

Should have been the Black Knight.

I've gotta admit that Captain Falcon's appearances in cutscenes are always amazing. First saving (and massacring) pikmin, and now antagonizing soldiers... will his daring ever end?

Well that's just not true.

Largest numbers I can find are from Sept of last year at 400k.

Comparatively Star Fox 64 sold 300k in the first 5 days... Fire Emblem is an awesome series, but it doesn't have the fans in the US that Star Fox does, and it certainly doesn't have any nostalgia factor.

That said, fuck Star Fox! Moooore Fire Emblem![/spoilers]

You don't think I know that? So what are Pac-Man, Sonic and Mega Man doing in the game? They're perfectly suited to stand toe-to-toe with Mario, Link and Samus because they were very important characters in the history of video games. This makes the game even more appealing to guys that grew up during this period of time. Plus, more people will recognize popular characters out of the 80s and early 90s than they will someone from FE. It's fan service either way, yes, but at least my version of fan service makes sense in the context of game where popular mascots beat the shit out of each other. What person who grew up at that time wouldn't want to see Simon Belmont fight Pit or Little Mac? Or Mega Man fight Samus? Those are the dream scenarios. Not a bunch of FE guys who almost no US gamer will recognize.

With the second set of characters in that leak being pretty much debunked, I'm still holding out a little hope for Simon Belmont. He would complete the package well for me in terms of the late 80's, early 90's characters of whom you are referring.

Lol
Fire Emblem has been around a lonnnng time, and even in the US it's been around a while.

You do know Smash is coming out in Japan too, right?

Best Buy in the US has that club where you get 20% off of all new games and usually get some sort of preorder bonus as well. It's not like there aren't deals, but yeah Nintendo first party is definitely more of a challenge.

'that robot from brawl'.... so you mean ROB? Please tell me you're being facetious.
W-what? I forgot its name and it's not like it was this revolutionary add on from Nintendo that rocked the fucking gaming world man jeez. This is the equivalent of somebody forgetting the name of the virtua boy for like 5 seconds as he posts.

Super disappointed with the choices. The Fire Emblem characters just aren't very interesting to me. One or two is fine. But three or four? Damn. Put in Simon Belmont. He was too important to the history of video games. Bring back Snake even. Or some other oddball Nintendo character. I just don't like that the game already has a lot of generic looking humanoid characters like the queen from Kid Icarus and now all of these FE characters. It ruins the appeal for me a bit. I want my colorful cast of iconic Nintendo brands.

How do you call Palutena generic looking right after asking for Snake back with a straight face?
