Lucina, Robin AND FEMALE ROBIN, & Captain Falcon Are Today's Smash Newcomers!

Anyone know what an Arwing is doing in the Pilotwings stage?

Fox and Falcon's intro

Edit: Yeah I'm late as usual ;)

We already have a good idea for why it was generic "Pokémon from X/Y." Sakurai said at the developer roundtable at E3 that there was a Pokémon slot reserved at the start of the roster selection. Greninja wasn't finalized until later. It's possible the leaker was exposed to the roster in the early phases, before Greninja had been chosen... and before a FE lord had been chosen, for that matter. In which case, he might've known they were going to have a Fire Emblem character, but incorrectly assumed it would be the main lord like in past Smash Bros.

No, I don't think that's what Sakurai said. He said that they picked Greninja well before X/Y's release, and thus before it was known that Greninja would be popular. It was in response to a question about whether or not they picked Greninja based on his popularity. It is almost the exact opposite of what you think Sakurai said. Greninja has been set for quite a while, long before the first roster leak. Whoever the leaker is, he is not someone close to the development, or else he wouldn't be getting so much wrong.

Anyone else find it strange that one of the weapon's Robin got is a fucking bronze sword?

Seriously, theres gotta be some better weapons design wise for him/her no?

Golden Falcon. :O

I'd like to point out that his shirt button positions have been changed to not look like golden nipples. Preorder canceled.

Ah, it's a reference to that fairy tale about the god Mercury and the gold and silver axes that Nintendo loves so much. Makes sense they used the animal crossing stage, since that's a game that invokes the fairy tale and actually involves gold and silver axes. Would have been better if they used Town and City and got the fountain in the background like this:

Palutena: "Is this silver Captain Falcon the one you dropped in the water, or was it perhaps this gold Captain Falcon?"

Aren't those two like the first two swords? Or at least the first sword and then the first decent sword you get?

The Levin Sword is a pretty rare/powerful weapon, it deals damage based on your magic stat.

The bronze sword is an odd choice though. Maybe they went with that for familiarity, since it's what you see a lot at the beginning of the game.

"So much wrong?" He's gotten one thing wrong, and everything else right so far. Things change during development. It's possible he was present for one phase and not another.

At any rate, does someone have the link to the entire audio recording of the developer roundtable? I'm nearly positive Sakurai said that they knew for sure they'd have a new Pokémon. Thus, the leaker, if close to development in the early phases, could've known just that much and not who was ultimately chosen.

Likewise with an FE spot.

Shulk probably won't come, again Xenoblade didn't have the exposure it did outside of the people that new about it.

That robot from Brawl? You mean ROB?

"that robot from Brawl" man that is pretty funny.
Shulk will come, sakurai knows that we know shulk will come, but he likes to tease us.

Here's a fun theory: What if Sakurai -was- going to show Shulk today, hence Monolith retweeting, etc, but when he saw the entire Internet expecting this, he just ran one trailer instead of the other?

The observer effect -- observe him and he changes the outcome.

Nah, he didn't need to wait; Sakurai is the true heir to the Monado and changed the future with it.

He then traveled back in time and shot JFK. Right before he convinced Hitler to leave art school and joined the illuminati.

:P

The only people who like Roy haven't played Fire Emblem. Roy sucks.

I only played him in Melee because my friends all picked up Marth solely because he was top tier, and I wanted to prove that tiers weren't everything

So yes, Roy's my boy. He may suck in the FE games, but he ruled by my hand

I feel like we're probably going to see Shulk and/or Rhythm Heaven character in the final game and all of the people saying "well it's obviously fake now" are going to be confused by the idea that there's a level of access between "Sees the whole game every single day" and "is a liar making things up"

I dunno, Monolith retweeted almost immediately, so he had 72 hours to prepare, and he seems aware of major rumors/leaks, based on that one picture released of Palutena and Mario. If this one was finished, why not just swap it? He might've caught the leaker in the process, too, seeing how (s)he was expecting Shulk today, too.

If they're gonna go with rhythm game we all know that elite beat agents deserve a place.

God. I'd buy a damn amiibo to get them as dlc characters if that's what it took.

I am consumed with "BELIEVE" when it comes to smash's roster, but even I can't stomach enough Hope-ium to believe that the EBA or Ouendan guys have a shot at anything more than an assist trophy.

Pretty much
until he gets the sword of seals

That counts as his only promotion, which means that his already pretty terrible stats are capped until the game's penultimate level
unless you meet the requirements for the true ending, so that's like two more levels
. And he doesn't even get a new set of sprites to make up for it.

Roy is just outright terrible.

I guess Chrom is Robin's final smash. Was hoping he would be a skin for one of the other Lucina or Marth but at least he's in the game. I loved Awakening, I'm going to make Lucina or Robin one of my mains.

I want Shulk, and the Chorus Dudes. Shulk because XB is awesome, and I want those fans to be happy. And Rhythm Heaven people because they are a bizarre weird pick, that would be incredibly unique like Villager/WFT/G&W, I guess it would please those fans too.

Although, I am not all that picky when it comes to the roster. It has already exceeded my expectation, except for one character who I think would be really cool for the game.

I'm guessing this will be the case too. He's been so close, and there's enough to say he could possibly end up with 10 out of 11.

That said, I'll be sad if the Rhythym Heaven rep isn't the triple character Chorus Kids I've been making up in my head :(.
