1) Competitors don't need to be neck and neck for competition to exist. It's a false equivalency.

2) This is only in one single country where the competition is close. There's a few dozen others where it isn't and never will be close.

Same price as the PS4 + No major exclusives in June. Not surprising at all.

Just good that it did much better. The new SKU will help during the Fall since the system really needed a $400 (or less) SKU before the Xmas season.

I didn't adjust the number. I doubled the 77K from last month and just rounded up to next 10k. I was just pointing out that may was 4 weeks and june was 5 weeks.

That is how NPD works...

You adjust for the extra week if you're looking for a time horizon of less than a year because if a product sells on a constant basis, you see growth from May to June and shrink from June to July and neither of those reflect anything structural about the product.

I know how NPD works. I thought Codeblew made the double of weekly sales instead of monthly, but then it would have been more.

So practically a week in June was 1.6 * a week in May.

Let's do some math...

May is 4 weeks.
June is 5 weeks.

May was 77k, or 19.25k a week.
Doubling 77k to 154k over 5 weeks is 30.8k a week.

So it's 'double' by month, but really just a 60% bump.

You want the opposite of what you think. Neck and neck just means there's equal amounts of fans on both sides. The only way to 'end' it is for a landslide.

Flaming often brings up the sales numbers, yes. But flaming does whatever it can to make the other group look bad. It will continue no matter the sales of either console.

So to wish that a console does better or worse simply to stop flaming is... silly? A console should sell better based upon the services, games, and value that it brings to customers.
