Maybe, but I didn't see it. I don't really expect the bigger sites to know every game down to the smallest detail. They're mainly news sites, so just get the news right (in other words, don't take a random GAF post as truth) and I'll be happy. Sorry to get slightly off topic, I just can't stand the way sites like IGN or Kotaku try and make up news to fill headlines...
...then again, that's pretty bad!
They don't really care for it except probably Dan, who will likely be handling the quick looks when the games come out I'd guess.

But the supposed delay was just for the 3DS version, right? If it's true, I figure it'd be something like
3DS: November (could vary from territory to territory, but still within the same month)
Wii U: December

If nintendo is smart they will reveal mewtwo and then quickly flash wii u version early 2015. The blow wouldn't be so bad. This is of course if the delay is true.

Here are my thoughts on a potential maybe possible delay:
If it's for balance and mechanic changes (dat landing lag), then I appreciate the gesture, but just release a patch. I mean, even if there are some things that aren't perfect, it'll be nice to at least have the game in our hands. No sense in delaying a game that's planned to have patches just to tweak it a little bit more. I mean, right? If a game is destined to be patched, why delay it just to do what a patch would do?
Same goes for characters that need some more work. As long as those characters end up being released as DLC and not scrapped altogether, then I say just release game and distribute those characters later.
I mean, unless the game is broken to the point of being unplayable, I say just release the damn thing and have the holiday season you need to have if you're Nintendo. The bits that need polish will be patched and distributed later, and it'll be okay.
Plus, I need this fucking game and Amiibos before 2015. Please Sakurai.

Nintendo will host its first ever Super Smash Bros. tournament for the 3DS at San Diego Comic-Con. The event will take place on July 25th at the Nintendo Gaming Lounge, starting at noon.
Competitors will begin the preliminary round in groups of four, where they will battle it out. The winner of each group will advance to the final round, consisting of a series of one-on-one battles. The tournament is a first-come, first-served basis, and will have limited slots. Interested fans can sign up the day of the event at the Marriott Marquis & Marina.
And it will be streamed on Nintendo's Twitch channel.

There is no way in hell that either version will get delayed. There are already a ton of 9/13 ads all over Japan. Nintendo has no big title for Wii U this winter except for Smash. They're not going to ride out on Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta. Nintendo makes a lot of head-scratching and DUMB decisions, but no way they would let their premier title for their struggling console slip past the holiday season.
It's not your fault. It's the the nature of the smash cycle. yea it definitely sounds like it's crunch time. I think Namco Bandai was the perfect choice to help create Smash since they have a lot of experience with fighting games but developing two games simultaneously would probably be rough for any team.
