PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | July 2014

The only thing keeping me from Growlanser on the PSN sale is that it's the fourth game, and I know nothing about the franchise.

TOTP: Play Danganronpa. It is crazy awesome.

I'm leaving for China (and then Japan) in a few hours. Not sure how great the internet will be, but I probably won't be very active here either way. Just a heads-up for anyone who cares. :)

I've been saving up money for my trip for a while. Whatever I don't spend in Japan, I'll probably spend when I return. Still trying to decide whether I want to buy a lime-green Vita Slim or a US 3DS XL...

Have fun in China/Japan!
Just spend your money on merchandise in Japan! :P

You don't need to know anything about it, it's a completely standalone experience, at least for me. You can't go wrong with it, specially for $5.

How poorly did KiD sell for it to be available so cheaply a year after release? I rarely see XSEED/NISA/Atlus/Aksys stuff hit the bargain bins that hard.

is the extra goodies any good? post some pics man

@ZeroAKA, you can get that LE 3DS XL - and then get a cheap US 3DS XL and swap the covers over. I think some people actually did that

if not, just get those fancy Vita Slim colors in Japan
(internet will be great)

You can look up an unboxing yourself. It comes with a 90 page artbook and a soundtrack CD. Don't know if it's the full thing or not. Also comes with some DLC

I'm sure you'd return the one after swapping. Otherwise yes, you are buying two to switch a cover.

how is he going to return the one bought in japan unless it has a online shop( or he buys US one now and brings tool) and i doubt they will take return without checking....

This is probably the appropriate thread.

Well I just noticed for the first time that PS4 PS Store won't let you buy certain pieces of DLC without owning prerequisite content first (must be old news I missed) like Dragon's Teeth for BF4 Premium. That's a pretty neat feature to keep people or their kids from accidentally wasting money on the wrong thing I suppose (I've seen stories like that). But it's also a small annoyance. I have bought DLC for a game ahead of actually buying it many times before.

If other people were as slow as me in figuring this out and want their minds blown, I figured it was worth posting.

No it's not the full soundtrack bah :/ I got that box for 20$ a few months back. It was still worth it to me. The artbook is nice though. It does contain spoilers but it lets you know on one of the first pages. DLC is the gigolo glasses which makes the gigolo missions quicker. And also an extra costume for each of your main two female companions. I also forgot an extra woman to romance and an extra mission involving a vampire's castle.

I was hoping for some Flandy exclusive unboxing :(
Deal with it

Yeah I figured it wouldn't be the full soundtrack >__> What a shame. Mostly bought it for the artbook anyway. I'll play the game of course :P I enjoyed No More Heroes back on the Wii so i hope this is at least as good as that.

bleh lol. guess I'll get it on Steam.
I had it once, sealed but sold it recently to clear out my "collection"
- didn't get to see the artbook... but based on the unboxing videos I've seen awhile back, it's actually a pretty good Launch Edition pack

I thought it was better. Mostly I enjoyed the characters and environments more than in NMH. It has similar game play too so you're already in a good position.

Someone gave me a copy today + a $10 card as a thank you gift

That's what I was leaning towards too. I can't resist Pokemon and Persona Q.

You better get Curtain Call i.e the only reason to own a 3DS other than Pokemon Sapphire

3DS library so so ded compared to it's predecessor there's like Senran TRFF/TRFF CC, MoHu, ORAS and soon to be FF explorers.

SMTIV sux cause it doesn't have dante

Awesome. Going into the game blind essentially. Didn't look up any reviews for it or anything. The only thing I somewhat know is that there was a controversy over it when it launched about Gigolo stuff. I don't exactly know what that is but I guess I'll find out soon :lol

How much memory does Soul Sacrifice Delta takes?

Ready to take the plunge since it seems to have a lot of upgrades from the vanilla version.

But i dont have much MC free space!

Weird question, but how can I enable trophy updates to facebook on ps4? I linked it all up, and allowed access to facebook, but my ps4 doesnt post my stuff to facebook like my ps3 and vita do. Is this intended?

is there even a 3rd party game worth getting that is out in english and has heavy text in japanese?

Wow. You're in a pretty big denial if you genuinely believe that the 3DS has no text heavy games, and that Nintendo never makes any (FE Awakening would like to have a word with you).

I'm not going to list any other games because this is already off-topic (and I don't want to start a console war here), people already made lots of lists in other threads.

I beat Blue Estate: The Game last night. If you have a PS4 and like rail shooters I really recommend it. The writing is hilarious, the gunplay is great; but it's a bit on the short side. Length is comparable to The House of The Dead 3 and 4 on PSN. Still, I had a lot of fun with it.

Ok we'll I bought this on your recommendation so it better be good! :p
We'll actually I got it because it was described as tactical rpg with something similar to social links. I don't really like the art style but hopefully I will still enjoy it. Now I just have to delete something off my 32gb card to make room.

I'm curious, what did you think of DoD3?

Sorry for the late reply (just noticed this post), but I liked DoD3.

You just have to know what you are getting into. I usually don't care for framerate nonsense, but in this game, the drops are really noticeable - like dipping into single digit territory in certain occasions. It's pretty awful, but I got used to it. And there is some jump on moving blocks up in the air nonsense that irked me a bit because im a causal when it comes to platformers.
But overall, it's a good game. I enjoyed the characters and the "story". The soundtrack was pretty good, but it's a lil flat compared to other Square OSTs.

If you love the DoD series, go for it and enjoy it. Cause it's probably the last DoD game we will get in a looooonnnnnggg time.

So I went into Killer is Dead blind. I've played maybe like 30 mins so far. I have absolutely no fucking idea what the hell is even happening in this game. What kind of demonic shit did I just purchase? D:

Oh I've already played it (and loved it, though I only finished Branch A), was just curious what you thought.

Decided to get Monster Monpiece and it's actually pretty fun! The Vita makes the perfect system for card games but we don't really have any. :/

Might take the plunge on Soul Sacrifice soon if it ends up not being part of the Sony Summer Sale next week. But gosh, all those August and September Vita games...

Are there any ps4 deals? Straight deals or psn cards on sale somewhere? I just got a ps4. I don't really want to go digital, but I'd buy something here in the middle of the night.

I just checked out the OT to read GAFs impression of that game and noticed that the thread has been closed with no apparent reason. Too ecchi for GAF?

As we come closer to Tuesday I find myself getting more and more excited for Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds.

One week ago I didn't even know this game existed but now I am looking forward to it as well.

You ply as Mondo, an executioner, who kills monsters and their minions. Love is involved.

Where's my God Eater 2? It now has infrastructure (network) mode right? So news of localization is what we are waiting.

Personally I'm a fan of GE rather than MH so this wait is killing me.

IMO I would say 3, the material for farming armors and weapon is a lot easier in Toukiden than MH. It took me perhaps two and three fights on each monster get the whole armor/weapon set. But grinding for Mitama is another story due to the drop rate, but I heard that they improve it in Kiwami, which is good, since there are now IIRC more than 300 mitama.

I never look at the time, but sometime I find that fighting boss monster does take a while, especially on higher level, since you must first reduce it's armor hp before actually able to do any damage to the boss LP. Overall, I would give it a 4 (if you do solo)

I say go for it, I'm a big hunting genre fan and Toukiden did not disappoint me at all, I also tried the kiwami demo and found it to be a big improvement from the original.

Pretty much agree but I'd put the mission lengths at somewhere between MH and GE2. Not as long as MH in my experience, especially when playing with NPCs or online, but not as short as GE2.

That actually sounds good news. 2~3 fights is actually a bit fewer than I expected.

I know enough about the weapons to have a grasp of how they feel and I'll probably go with a Spirit-type Mitama for combat variety. But being mostly a solo/lone player, I'm worried about the huge grind and the "long" time per battle. Due to the combination of those, I have sworn myself off MH games unless a number of my friends get them.

I don't mind long games per se*, but there are games made me feel that it's "work" than "play". It didn't help that the online MH communities back when I was active were largely elitists. >_>

Not to mention that GE2 has a very liquid-able resource now that I'm actually collecting all Charge Spears. Sometime that I wouldn't even dare to think about in a hunting game. Stuff are still expensive, though, both in money and resource.

#CampGE3

If you still don't like SRPGs after playing that (turn down the difficulty if you have to), most likely you really don't like any SRPG ever.

I think that's a very strict definition of SRPG. I don't get what's so special about Awakening. I saw it's gameplay a few times, but I don't think that's much different than the more common style of SRPG.

Care to elaborate?

There are just so much more interesting SRPGs out there to have a "defining" game in terms of gameplay. Like Super Robot Wars (yes, I'm serious), or Senjou no Valkyria/Valkyria Chronicles.
