I love the art of hanafuda cards. I have always wanted to see a game attempt its simple and uniform style much like Okami did with sumi-e.

Huh, someone in /v/ pointed out that pyrosphere has those cylinders which Ridley activates in MOM during his boss fight to tilt the platform.

If anybody honestly acts surprised by Ridley being a stage hazard after all the hints and Ridley-shaped holes in the stage, I have zero sympathy.
You could toss Balloon Fight Guy on the list too--Balloon Fight has always had a large presence in Smash Bros. all things considered. (...and Duck Hunt Dog ;_
I'm perfectly ok with it being skewed towards newer characters, it's something Sakurai has talked about in the past, and even if Little Mac and the guest characters have had recent games it's still really great to see all of them represented in Smash Bros.!
I just really hope we get at least one surprising revival, even if it's something like "The Dude From Geist." I just wanna see them dig a little deeper.

Honestly, if it wasn't for Gematsu, I would expect Shulk as an Assist Trophy too. As much as I love Xenoblade, he's as relevant as Isaac in the Brawl era.
I hadn't even considered that - but I guess the "partial nudity" in the rating has to come from somewhere.
Whatdya mean, I'm unfamiliar with Other M so I'd likely to hear this explained.

Hmm. I'd be worried, but haven't we seen that the platforms move on the Other M stage, or am I mistaken? I donno.

Honestly, besides DHD and Takamaru, I can't think of any "dead retro" characters I give a damn about.

Basically:
- "Soft Leaker" said that Monday's pic of the day will shock you all without going into greater detail a few hours before Pic of the Day unveiled. Lo and behold hours later, Takamaru-gate.
- I say "Soft Leaker" because one of the posters caught on to this poster right after Takamaru-gate that doesn't really phrase their past topics as leaks but more like suggestions and questionings and stuff like "It's Probably Not Going to Happen."
- On July 26, soft leaker created this thread asking proof that Sakurai said he would add in Takamaru if he got another game. Concluded that it seems like a case of fans twisting Sakurai's words. Cue June 28's Takamaru-gate.
- Heavily suggests that while Smash has lost reps in the past, they've never lost franchises. And points out that Snake has so much work and effort done from Brawl that to just cut him for x-reason would be insane. Konami would be insane to not have Snake in a blockbuster. Porting his moveset to another character would be insane because the amount of work done with his voice acting, the music selection, and Shadow Moses Island stage would be for nothing.
- Casually suggests that we might see Green Hill Zone returning in reference to Shadow Moses Island. Confirmed a few days later.
- Infers that there's no way Ubisoft would just waste Rayman copyrights for silly trophies hence the secretly playable part or assist or whatever.
- When we were all expecting Shulk to be revealed on July 14, he casually predicted "It's going to be someone that no one expects, a la WFT/Greninja" days before the reveal. Lo and behold, Robin/Lucina-gate.
- Wario would indeed be the next veteran reveal... as indicated on July 16 when Club Nintendo updated their stuff with a lot of Wario games. I think this was days before eShop had their Wario mania.
- Sceptile and Ghirahim are treated with "lol, no."
- Some kind of Donkey Kong newcomer blind item disguised as an old man's rambling. Randomly posted on July 26... when Comic-Con was happening. OMG this person's part of Treehouse lol.
- Suggests more newcomers than we are led to believe. Robin/Lucina newcomer vid showed that newcomers can be bulked into the same videos so don't fear the low amount of vids left as Sakurai stated.

^All of that are pretty easy guesses to make. And Wario is in no way "confirmed" as the new vet reveal.

I couldn't really see Ridley as a stage boss before but if all he's going to do is tilt the stage and occasionally attack people I can totally see that as something Sakurai would do and think was fun.
Fuck's sake, all of my hope has just gone unless Sakurai considers Actual Ridley and the clone ridley in Other M as different characters.
i wonder if sakurai will ever write up something like this, but for smash 4

There is a general trend of throw strength throughout Brawl’s character roster. On the whole, characters with supernatural powers tend to have the most powerful throws, while fighters like the ones from the Fire Emblem series tend to have weaker ones.

It's the sort of weird distinction he'd personally make, but we also see that he generally keeps series characters in a unified style, going so far as to make a sort of pseudo Twilight Princess Link as a character like Zelda wouldn't have worked with her Skyward Sword style. The exception I guess is the Fire Emblem characters, as Marth and Ike retain the styles from their own games. But then, Fire Emblem is a much more segregated series in terms of storyline.
"Tonight will shock you" is such a vague statement. I could make that prediction every day and it would go ignored until it coincidentally comes true.
Takamaru was one of the most debated characters, especially after the EU eShop release of his game.
So many softball guesses. GREEN HILL ZONE WOW. Also a ton of conjecture about such and such "being insane" such as Snake and Rayman without any evidence or concrete statements.
Wario is one of the most predictable vets to reveal.
Not enough meat in those statements for me to believe him. Hell, I'm going to make a statement RIGHT NOW and let's see if it comes true.

Zoroark is a Poké Ball Pokémon and Genesect... People are just assuming it isn't playable. Yes, Tingle was seen as an AT, it is the same from Brawl.

Funny, I've seen genesect footage from the demos as a Pokeball Pokemon, but none for Zoroark lol. Though we did see him in the opening of the Genesect trailer.

Genesect is a pokeball pokemon. Zoroark has no footage yet but we see it in the Greninja trailer in the pokemon montage

I doubt there's another Pokémon Newcomer, but it's not really disconfirmed then, right? It's just been said every one of these Pokémon are in the game.
Same way Wii Fit Trainer and Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. all play.
I doubt they would incorporate the NES Zapper due to how similarly it looks to a real-ass handgun, but they could straight-up make things up for him that would all be pretty clever. And ducks! I want to see Duck Hunt Dog settle his 3-decade grudge.

Happens around 2:10.
Shoots a small green lazer, jumps and shoots again. Repeats this, then shoots a big lazer. This pattern then repeats again before dissapearing. Worth noting he'll turn around too.
