Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Yeah it gets kinda hostile in here sometimes so I think a big SmashGAF kumbyiah would be nice. Since we're almost at the end of this ride, I'd like to say that even though I don't get to actively post here that much I do feel very connected to the regular SmashGAF crew and the buildup to this Smash has been the most fun for me out of any Smash. Thanks for making this such a fine time everyone. Smash 4 lyfe.

*hugs everyone*
I'm with you, man. After moving out of my hometown, my number of geek friends decreased dramatically, so SmashGAF has been a really great community to scratch that itch. Doesn't hurt that the majority of regular SmashGAFers are quite cool.

How are we still getting mileage out of this?

Also, I honestly thought nobody here was rooting for Bayonetta until last thread. Here's to all of us waiting in vain for her non-existent reveal trailer...

I will never let it die. Never.
And I would like to see Bayonetta in. And Snake. Together.

That new OT smell, mmmhhmm..
*Takes a big whiff* haaaaaaaaaa. Smells like sweat and broken dreams.

I'm guessing a stage tonight and veteran next week.
"Lets have another look at the Pyrosphere from this angle!"

I'm predicting another 3ds stage tonight!

I'm secretly hoping for a veteran though.
Let's get the best of both worlds and have a veteran on a new stage. We may have a new thread by the end of the weekend if we get Ness on a new Earthbound stage.

It's funny, I'm obviously hype for the gameplay and all, but last night's trophy update is what finally has me itching to play the game. Like, I just want to pop the cartridge in my 3DS right now and start collecting trophies until I have them all. I remember shaking my 3DS like a maraca to get Play Coins to unlock idols in Kid Icarus Uprising more quickly, lol. I'm going to have an extremely beefy right arm after this game!

And while I'm on the topic of trophies, in addition to the ones we've seen so far in PotD updates and Directs, we can reasonably count on most, if not all of the Pokéball Pokémon getting trophies... and all of the Assist Trophies... and all of the Smash Run enemies... and all of the bosses... and all of the items... and all of the playable characters, with alternate forms, and alternate poses, and Final Smashes... and we can generally expect stage hazards (although there could be omissions, like how New Pork City's chimera didn't get a trophy in Brawl). We also know we can now expect dioramas of select stages, something Sakurai started in Uprising and that I'm happy to see continue here. And in some cases we know Sakurai will break things down piecemeal -- for example, if Mega Man X is getting his own trophy, chances are the other members of Mega Man's Final Smash (Volnutt, EXE, etc) will get their own trophies, as well. And then, of course, there are trophies dedicated to characters and concepts that don't appear in the game in any other form. I imagine Dr. Wily is an example of this.

Man, trophies are so wonderful. The ability to examine them from any angle, zoom in and out, change the lighting, arrange them on a table -- it makes them feel so toy-like, and I love it. :-)

Dioramas of select stages were in Smash as far back as Melee I believe!

I'm really looking forward getting to see Smash trophies in 3D. That will be a real treat to me.

I agree - it's like being reminded of just how much lurks beneath the surface of what we've been shown. Obviously, the characters and stages will constitute the majority of gameplay, but there's likely to be so much we haven't yet seen. It's a shame we can't experience the surprise firsthand because of the staggered release dates.

About the 3DS adding, how is adding people going about, through PM's... or what? i mean i know about the Google doc thing, but how do we know when people have added us?

This thread once the game releases

TMNT what the hell are they doing to you!?

I wonder how this thread will become once some of us here get early copies because of retailers breaking release dates lol. Aside from the JPN 3DS holders of course
kinda tempted to buy one to cure the itch

Yeah, but didn't Sakurai say the 3DS version and WiiU version will each have their own trophies? We know the 3DS version will have more than 544 trophies (since Sakurai said it has more than Brawl), and the WiiU version will be comparable. If overlapping trophies are minimal, we'll have plenty to look forward to discovering in the WiiU version... at least, where trophies are concerned. :-)

I don't think we'll get a veteran today, maybe Ganondorf for Hyrule Warriors releases (that's next week right?).

A new Assist Trophy deconfirmation would be fun though. I love the meltdowns.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, how fun would it be if Sakurai posted like "Here's Falco, he's now an Assist Trophy", and then followed that with another post like "Nah, just kidding. He's back!", like the Zero Suit Samus tease in the Direct.

Rare conditioned me to always get excited at the prospect of collecting stuff to completion.

Wily update yesterday also makes me hopeful we'll have more 'original' trophies than direct rips from games. It makes sense to limit the amount of work you have to do, but it meant series like Wario and Mother got next to nothing since most of their games are in 2D.

Should probably clear out my inactive friends from Pokemon Y soon. I know I'm gonna be adding people like crazy in a few weeks.

Yeah, that's why I liked the Squitter trophy so much in Brawl -- it was one of the (relatively) few trophies that were all-original models that weren't imported from another game. (I also love Squitter!)

Yeah! Time for our veteran tonight! We went by two threads without one! Now is that time!

It's time to double up on veterans.

And by that I mean Ice Climbers finally. He's going through classic character ATs, unless the ICs are in a video I don't see why not to reveal them now.
Duck Hunt Dog's vid has all the classic characters in it...

I wonder if it has anything to do with Paon working on the game (Game Arts and Monolith helped too). I know a lot of the Kirby trophies were models from the cancelled Kirby GCN.

You know how in previous games completing Classic mode and All-Star mode gave you trophies of different moves from each of the characters. It would be cool if you got trophies for 2 special moves on 3DS, and then trophies for the other 2 on Wii U.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the people who have been calling a veteran literally every night for the past month will finally be vindicated.

I mean, my predictions are never right, anyway, so why not go big?

well if you keep calling for a veteran every single time, eventually it will actually happen unless there are simply no more veterans left
