Let the tapping up begin...

Never ever ever happening in a million years, just in case someone thinks I'm serious.

Jovetic is a PES fanboy, must be glad he finally found someone who wanted to play it with him. He used to play it with Nastasic.

We should try for Benetia, Roma are going after Manolas and Balanta. That can mean only one thing...He's available.

£30m+

And not necessarily. Balanta or Manolas probably wouldn't be brought in to start games, and Benatia to Astori is some drop. If they bring another CB in, it's just as likely Romagnoli will go out on loan. Don't forget City were trying for Benatia (before getting Mangala) with £30m ready and failed.

His first goals for Arsenal. Can't fault him for being excited
Just find it hilarious, is all
Yaya Sanogo scored four times in a stunning personal performance as Arsenal beat Benfica 5-1 to make a fine start to the 2014 Emirates Cup.
The French striker had failed to register for the club despite an encouraging first season in English football, but caught fire at a jubilant Emirates Stadium.
It was the first time that an Arsenal player has scored four in one game since Andrey Arshavin at Anfield in April 2009, and it was some statement from the 21-year-old.
Sanogo opened the scoring midway through the first half with a neat finish from close range, before Joel Campbell extended the lead with his first goal in Arsenal colours.
But this was Sanogo’s day and on the stroke of half time he scored his second and third in quick succession as the rampant Gunners took over.
The half-time interval did nothing to halt the Frenchman’s hunt for goals and minutes after the restart he added his fourth after Aaron Ramsey’s shot had been saved.
Nico Gaitan pulled one back for the Portuguese champions just after the hour mark, but nothing could take the gloss off Sanogo’s – and Arsenal’s – day.
For all the talk of new strikers this summer, this was an emphatic reminder that Arsène Wenger may just have the perfect solution in his ranks already.
He posted this on today!!
if he's fit I hope he starts the community shield
He will because Giroud is so clearly unfit.

Ah, makes sense. Have you seen anything in Russian media tonight about Javi Garcia? Apparently he flew to Malaga today for some reason, people saw him at the airport.

Zenit insider says we'll have him signed before we play the next CL round. That's all I know.

Seems imminent either way.

Fantastic, really hope it goes through. Is it true that the players in Russia only pay 13% income tax? Explains how Zenit can afford his salary...

It is. That's why we have such a modest wage bill compared to the big clubs.

Dang. Well... thanks for taking Javi Garcia. He's really slow, doesn't like to tackle (despite being a DM) and bit of a headless chicken at times, but his heading and positioning is OK. Don't play him at CB.

He looked better during the spring though, but had a really poor 1½ year before that.

Yeah, wasn't he keeping Fernandinho out of the starting lineup towards the end of the season?

What were his wages at City anyway?

And we desperately need a DM. There's no doubt he'd be an upgrade over what we have now: an 80 year old Tymoschuk.

Nah Fernandinho got a knock. Plus, Fernandinho is not a DM, he was at times an AM at Shakhtar and suddenly he played DM at City. At the end, in the important matches, Pellegrini wanted an extra body defensively so Garcia got his chance. He was good but not mobile enough for Pellegrini. CM was always a problem as soon as Yaya or Fernandinho was injured, neither Garcia or Rodwell worked with Pellegrini's tactics.

They were said to be around £75k a week, on a 5-year-contract. I feared he'd be sold for £4m to an Italian team and then City having to pay £40k a week for the last three year of his contract.

edit
They say the DM position is bit of a "silent man's work" or whatever you call it, but Garcia was so openly shit at times that you can't say that about him. Really lost, the better players just ran around him and lost him really quick since he's so slow. He's OK in a 3-man central midfield where he doesn't need to cover much ground but worse in a 4-4-2.

He'll absolutely be good in the Russian league, and if he has Witsel and someone else next to him he should be OK in CL too.

You will have half of Benfica's defensive unit from a few years back.
Yup. Garay, Witsel and Javi. But with a better surrounding cast.

I would have preferred Sandro myself, and he was apparently our first choice too but Levy (being Levy) was asking for ridiculous money. Oh well, Garcia is more than good enough the RPL and we have no chance in the CL anyway.

Scott Sinclair, Micah Richards. If those two are sold, City will have exactly the squad they've chased since the sheikh took over, for the first time. No extra luggage, no unwanted players out on loan, just 22 professional players that all seem to want to play for City.

15 mins till Rovers vs Cardiff folks. Should be a cracker
don't blame me when it's 0-0

Also, saw a film called Lilting today. Lovely and understated little thing, with a terrific performance from Ben Whishaw.

8/10

Zlatan kicking off the club season

Not expecting anything great about Barca's defense, just happy I no longer have to be terrified.

Felipe Luis or Azi, which of these two should I pick?
Its a tough call, no one knows who Jose will play out of the 3 Full backs, But I think Azpilicueta has more of a chance of starting over the other 2 as he can play on the right and the left so I would choose him.

I honestly wouldn't mind if Sinclair stuck around. Looked pretty good in the preseason and showed great work rate plus he bagged a few nice goals. That first half in SKC, he linked up so well with Negredo. Richards though.. he has to go. Immediately. He's just absolutely painful to watch -- our worst player by leaps and bounds.

He's been OK, better than I expected, but there's no room in the striking two and he's not good defensively enough to play LM. I think he's off, hopefully City can get a couple of millions for him.

Daehli and Fabio start for your dosage of ex United folks

Eikrem on the bench, is he one too?

Football is goddamn back

Love it
