Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

All right Weekend Smash, I'm bored and trapped indoors by stormy weather, so let's have some fun. Here's one for you: using series created in 2000 or later, outline your ideal Smash Bros. roster.

The problem of more recent characters to include in Smash is one that always seems to come up, with only 13 characters in the 50+ overall series roster created later than 2000, and most of those come from pre-2000 series like Fire Emblem and Pokemon. So, pretend Nintendo from the 20th Century doesn't exist, and see what you could imagine Smash Bros looking like now.

General rules:
  • Characters must come from games/game series created in 2000 or later.
  • Spin-offs are OK, reasonably speaking. Good = WarioWare, bad = Mario Tennis
  • Pre-2000 series introduced into the US/EU post-2000 are cool, like Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem, are cool, but you've got to use characters post-2000. So no Marth, and no Tom Nook.
  • Minimum of 26 characters (as in Melee), maximum of 37 (as in Brawl).
  • Maximum of 4 characters per series to avoid making a Fire Emblem fighting game.
  • You can have up to 6 third-party characters, but as per Smash Bros tradition, only 1 character per third-party franchise.
  • Clones are fine.

I just thought of the idea, so I'm still thinking of my list still. Figure it might spark some creative suggestions in you guys though!
plus if no-one cares I don't wanna post a big list everyone ignores
Okay, let's see
Ray Mk2 (Custom Robo GCN)
Olimar (Pikmin)

  • Lyn
  • Olimar
  • Britanny

Paper Mario
Bandana Waddle Dee
Greninja
Shulk
Captain Rainbow
Lucas
Baby Donkey Kong
Dark Samus
Paper Luigi
Krystal
Swirlix
Yoshi (From Paper mario TTYD)

This "21st Century Smash" thing is making me realize just how few really great franchises and memorable characters Nintendo has created in the last 14 years :/

It's not to much that they haven't created any, it's more that they create great ones (Chibi Robo, Custom Robo) and then don't make many entries in their series.

I want it in Smash Bros.

The Chun-Li of Pokémon.

More like the Cammy of smash.

Also, I'm good on Pokemon. I think we have all the pokemon we need right now.

I'd probably go with:

That'd be my 21st Century Smash!

More like Assist Trophy Bros. amirite?? lol

This is pretty close to what I'd choose. I'd probably add Paper Mario, though, Does that count?

Eh, I wasn't being serious (although I -do- love Mega Lopunny's design). Main obstacle with wishing for Megas in Smash is that they appear to be relegated to Final Smashes...

What I do for DACUS is odd. I use C-stick down to initiate the dash attack then press up on the control stick and z to cancel into up-smash. I can get it to work with most characters ninety percent of the time barring Sheik since her's is near frame perfect. If I may recommend a way to practice, try using Wario or Snake as they have some of the easiest DACUS's to perform in my opinion so you can get a better feel. Hope this helps a bit.

I'll try that, thanks.

One stage uses this, while another stage uses the smooth jazz album and we're set.

Both are so horribly dated but it doesn't matter because F-Zero is dated by design.

We need the Jazz album in this game almost as much as we need Smashing... Live!'s OST. Which is a lot.

One character I'd like to see in one way or another is Harry from Teleroboxer.

The robot from the NA cover would be even better though, but he doesn't appear in the game as far as I know.

But I guess that would be too obscure.

I really wish we'd've had Harry in as Mac's alt instead of Arcade Mac. Maybe this means he's in the game somewhere? He's the right mix of obscure and awesome to make me really want him as an Assist Trophy, and who knows? Maybe we'll see him show up in a Punch-Out!! sequel and he can get in SSB5?

Mona never had a chance...

Never say never; you gotta BELIEVE! ... Seriously, I really want to see Mona, or anyone related to Wario's Land or Ware, get into Smash, or Kart, or something. They'd've been a hell of a lot better than the Koopalings in the latter, and honestly, I could do without Robin if it meant Jimmy T. or Syrup in the former...
