The quality of the community shield game seems poor. It always is. My favourite, however, is 2006, when Momo Sissoko kicked Michael Ballack for the full match. He did it for Milch

Arsenal shirt is awful. Very 'Football League Championship'

For this season, I think Lovren, Skrtel, Sakho is a good set of centre backs. Agger, Kolo, Coates, Kelly will be decent backup, but surely a few of them will leave.

Supposedly Agger is still on his way out to somewhere other than Barca, so it does seem like it'll end up being Coates as 4th choice, unless someone else is signed.

On the opening day we'll have Moreno, Flanagan, Manquillo, Enrique and Johnson.

For quality and depth that's probably the best in the league.

Steady on, we haven't even seen Moreno sign, let alone play for Liverpool yet. And I would say Arsenal (Debuchy, Chambers, Gibbs, Monreal) and City (Sagna, Zabaleta, Clichy, Kolarov) have just as good depth, while Chelsea have superb quality with Azpili, Ivanovic and Luis.

Remember the Hazard backheel in the Community Shield? That was great. It gave other clubs some hope he wasn't that good.

That was at Villa Park right. I remember it because at half-time both sets of fans chanted "WANKER, WANKER" loud enough for the mics to pick up.

Firstly we have signed Moreno. It'll just be announced after the Super Cup.

Secondly I suppose you're right. I'd have City and Chelsea's ahead of ours. But not Arsenal's. Definitely not Arsenal's.

Tom Høgli might be the worst right back I have ever seen. He makes Janne Saarinen look good, a man who must have assisted about 20 goals for the opponent in the Copenhagen shirt through 2 seasons. How is he on the Norwegian national team? Why is he a footballer? WHY DID WE SIGN HIM?! Fuck.

Wait was it? I was sure it was at the community shield.

I Googled it. Wembley was being used for the Olympics so it was staged in Villa Park.
I can't even believe you doubted me. As if I could be wrong.

My hype for this Arsenal season is growing. First season I'll watch EPL, should be a good time. Such an exciting team.

Why not?

Haven't seen either Moreno or Manquillo in a competitive match yet.

It's a bit speculative to say that as of now, considering last season.

Because I think ours are better.

Debuchy wouldn't get in our team. Monreal is Enrique levels of average (without the excellent through balls). Chambers has so little (Manquillo levels) of experience at top-flight football and even he got done a couple of times today. And Gibbs is good but extremely injury prone.

What about the people who care enough about golf to be bothered by that?
Eh?

You're watching countless putts on the green and there are always a couple of louts shouting that like a madman. Or even, on shots that stand a very slender chance of going in the hole. As a viewer, it's annoying. I'm sure you would feel the same way if you watched it.

Manquillo had, like, a 3rd of the appearances that Chambers had last season and it was in La Liga. Chambers did get done once or twice from what I remember, but he is playing a relatively new position. Gibbs actually had very few injuries last season.

Just seems very premature to make those kind of statements, and without evidence to back it up.

Aye, I know Moreno is all but done.

As for Arsenal, like Salva says there just isn't a big enough sample to say that Moreno and Manquillo make it much stronger. I'd certainly put Enrique above Monreal, but for Gibbs vs Moreno, who knows? Flanagan and Chambers are probably at a similar level right now, but Debuchy, for all he is rank average, is just better than a player with only a handful of senior games so far. And whilst Johnson would easily have been the best of the lot not too long ago, his decline has been so precipitous as to discount him entirely, regardless of a reasonable performance against Dortmund.

My point was: who even cares about golf enough to be bothered by people shouting. :P

A joke, of course. Golf is an amazing sport.

If I had to choose to play 'current' Liverpool or 'Suarez' Liverpool, I'd much rather play the current team.

But you don't know how the current team will play out since the first XI didn't even play enough to gel yet.

Give it time. And yes, Suarez was scary but we still can scare teams without him.

What do you mean "evidence"?

I think our fullbacks are better than yours and I wouldn't swap them if you offered it to me. Moreno is one of the highest rated young fullbacks in Europe. Flanagan has proven he can play at the highest level required in the Premier League. For all the shit Johnson gets he has proven that he can be a devastating asset offensively whilst still remaining solid defensively.

Manquillo comes with a good reputation and from what I saw today is certainly capable. Enrique is Enrique. Given the Newcastle link I'm inclined to put him on Debuchy's level.

We said the same thing when Ronaldo left.

Suarez was an exceptionally good player. I could of course be proved very wrong but Liverpool aren't as scary without him.

"Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says the club have fielded no enquiries for defender Daniel Agger."

Guess you have to keep crying Agger, you fucking gluesniffing benchwarmer.

By evidence, I mean watching the players play for Liverpool in competitive fixtures (or watching them in general) and making a comparison based on that.

From what you've said, your judgement on Moreno is based purely on reputation and the same with Manquillo, in addition to a sole friendly appearance against a poor team.

Good news in starting a week all these questions will be answered and unknowns be gone.

Gods, leave this thread for a while and you lot have let the deluded Gooners take over the thread title and thread.

You've won a couple of Mickey Mouse trophies, chaps. Calm yo tits. You're set for another fourth place finish this season anyway.

Hi, everyone else :)
