Namco Bandai releases many games only on PS3/4, did you ever complain they are anti-consumer?
Yakuza is exclusive on PS3/4, did you ever complain SEGA is anti-consumer?
Dude stop it, your trying too hard. No man Sky is a timed exclusive and Sony is helping fund it. Not remotely the same thing.
Microsoft made a good move here.
Square made a really stupid move here.
FROM is a developer
SE is a publisher
You think SE don't have enough money or resource to make TR?
fanboy shit?god this is some fanboy shit right here :/
You don't get why people that want to play it on PS4 are angry about this news!? It was announced for PS4...
I really wish gamers could see beyond the scope of their console "winning" "this round."
Instead, they laugh and post pictures of salt and try to "Sony Too".
We deserve everything coming our way.
Also even on the Playstation round up of E3 2014 there is no mention of Rise of the Tomb Raider.
Please stop making stuff up.
rottr would be lucky to even match uc4's sales let alone outsell it.
Microsoft fully publishing thisAre they co-publishing this? Otherwise, probably just temporary.
Still, very unexpected.
I'm trying to think of a game Sony could/would do this for. Fallout? KH3?
This actually sets a dangerous precedent for MS now. TR is a fairly sizable franchise, one that I thought would be too big to moneyhat. What's to stop MS from shelling out for bigger franchises like Fallout, Final Fantasy, etc? Only franchises that seem safe for now are mega blockbusters like Call of Duty and GTA.
You don't get why people that want to play it on PS4 are angry about this news!? It was announced for PS4...
Both Xbone and Wii U are dead as fuck compared to PS4.
I feel you.This is crap...
I have both systems, just so I can play exclusives, but there is no way I am buying this.
You have exclusives that are made in house.
You have exclusives, like the recent Sunset Overdrive, where the developer gets to keep control of their product, so staying on one system makes sense.
You have exclusives, like Bayonetta 2, where one of the big companies helps fund the game which would have never been made otherwise.
With all of these I have no problem buying the game and is the reason I own all the major systems.
Then you have crap like this where one company pays to keep the game off other systems. This is complete anti-consumer shit. This is not helping the gamer. This is not creating exciting content for your fans. This is not making me want to support your company by hiring the most talented artist in the industry and giving them a chance to wow me. This is 100% complete mafia bullshit of taking out all competition and leaving me one single choice.
fuck you I am not supporting this...
maybe the bigwigs in SE got disappointed about the sales of TR , either way I think they weren't too confident of the future sales of this game and wanted the guaranteed cash instead
No worries, I'm sure PS4 and PC will get the HD Remaster later on.
Well was yakuza ever on different platforms? No it was always on playstation. Tomb Raider was on playstation and now it's not. If tomb raider started on xbox I would have been fine with it but starting a seires on muilt platform and now going exclusive, now that's where it I draw the line.
My thoughts exactly. That is really short-sighted of Squeenix, with xbone being a non-entity in most of Europe. I guess they don't have much faith in the selling potential of this thing if they'd rather have Microsoft's moneyhats. I wonder how do you have to pay to get a AAA franchise of this sort exclusive, even for a time, on a struggling console.
Tomb Raider (2013) Sales by platform
PS3 - 2.2 million
X360 - 1.71 million
PS4 - 0.46 million
PC - 0.27 million
XOne - 0.17 million

It's good that they're targeting their largest fanbase. Should do wonders for their sales. I'm just afraid that if they'll abandon the franchise if they do poorly with this game.
So we know FOR SURE that MS isn't "helping fund" Rise of the Tomb Raider? Any answer would most likely be speculation at this point until GAF detectives do what they do. Could be hats of monies... Or a new partnership. No one here knows I imagine.
You clearly haven't read my quickly compiled fanfiction on the matter, yet.
It's going to be timed exclusive anyway. No way in hell will it stay forever on Xbone. This series is just too big as a multiplatform game to stay exclusive to one platform. I give it a year.
I am pretty sure if Sony took the next Bioshock sequel exclusive to the PS4, I would not defend Sony at all (unless it was the only way the game would exist otherwise [like Bayonetta 2]).
