The Uncharted games sold about 5-6 million each, one one platform. Since then, ND's brand has only grown, with TLOU well on it's way to 10 million (albeit on two consoles). By the time UC4 comes out, the PS4 will have easily crossed 25 million, and it'll be close to 30. ND is Sony's premiere studio, which means they're going to be pushing it hard, plus it looks friggen amazing so there will no doubt be tons of hype (not to mention, it's supposed to be the final game).
Halo 5 comes on the heels of a disappointing Halo 4, on a console with sales that are less than impressive. By the time it comes out, the X1 will be lucky to have crossed 15 (maybe it'll be at 16 or 17 million). While there will certainly be a lot of hype, I feel that all these factors will combine and lead to UC4 outselling Halo 5. Especially since Sony now holds NA as well, which means they have an audience that they may not have had last gen (a lot of 360 gamers switching over) along with their established base.
TLOU2 will be even bigger.
I think that's a fair and pretty accurate assessment. Naughty Dog has seemingly been on the rise over the last few years, and the sales numbers for their games show it. Meanwhile, the days of Halo selling 8-10 million are long gone in my opinion, and Halo 4 only hurt the franchise. 343i need to go out of their way to prove that they can make great Halo games on the level on Bungie.
We'll see though.
This is how you play the game boy. All i want is that both Sony and Microsoft sells their hardware enough to have another generation of gaming. Competition is a good thing sir.
It's also stupid. I could maybe see KOTOR, as it is a franchise that has long since been retired, and Microsoft would definitely benefit from being seen as the "revivors" of the franchise.
As far as Mass Effect, Fallout, and Elder Scrolls go, these are some of the biggest RPG franchises right now. And we're not going to see any of them until Holiday 2015 at the earliest, more than likely 2016 for either Bethesda game. By the time any of these games release, the gap in sales will be huge between the PS4 and Xbone. Giving timed exclusivity to the lesser-selling console for a non-insignificant amount of time would be a terrible idea, as it is essentially knee-capping your franchise and potentially squandering a large amount of potential it may have had.
Like I've said before, I'm no expert, but I just can't see that being a good idea for Bioware, EA, or Bethesda unless Microsoft forks over a LOT of money.
I totally jumped the comment gun there. Thought you might have moved on to comparing them since their similar genres. I dunno.
It's cool. No worries.
