Witcher 3 Collector's Edition getting exclusive physical content on XB1 [CDP Comment]

Keep It up Microsoft, it's good to see grown men crying and whining about what's coming or not coming to their platform of preference.

You know what is the same price on two different platforms but not have equal? Destiny. I didn't see the fucking outcry about that.

Just to keep this up to date, here is what a simple GAF search brought up. I stopped on page 6 and might have skipped some relevant threads.

There may have been larger threads even earlier when the Activision/Sony partnership was first announced, but those are more recent.

This situation with The Witcher 3 wouldn't have nearly been as bad if it wasn't on the heels of all the RotTR madness. There would still be some people bitching, but nowhere like this and more willing to use their heads.

That isn't a silent agenda, that's called being a consumer.

"shit, I don't have access to that stuff I want? lame"

It's more obvious with X1 exclusive stuff because more people own a PS4 than an X1!

That's really not the argument most people are making in this thread though. And even then it's a map and some cards.

Yes and those threads are about real exclusive in game measure able content. Not fluff or vanity items real content and yet in this thread the vitriol is far worse hmmmm.

You have to be joking. There was a shitstorm about the Destiny Exclusive DLC. Must be nice to have such a selective memory so you can also conveniently forget being proven wrong on a regular basis.

I'm honestly a little shocked to see people lambasting Microsoft for securing exclusive non-game content for The Witcher 3, while Sony has already secured a multitude of exclusive in-game content for Destiny.

Seems less like outrage and more like mild annoyance from everyone.

Oooh, sassy. I like it.

Yes but it has calmed down. And Destiny's example of exclusive content is far far worse than this or imho even the tomb raider example since when ps4 and pc owners finally do get the game they will get all of it at once. Odds are by the time the withheld content on destiny is released there will be little reason to revisit it.

i wonder when people will stop mentioning this considering there was an outcry over the destiny stuff

After reading the threads posted above, I agree with JaggedSac - the reaction to Sony's exclusive Destiny content was more of a mild annoyance.

Because the level of outrage, if you even want to call it that, is less or the same for Destiny as it is for a map and deck of cards in a CE for the Witcher 3. Not even close to the same thing and yet here we are.

Which is precisely why most people aren't making a big deal out of this. The only reason it is getting much attention at all is because it's just further proof of the "paid content adds value" strategy that made Tomb Raider such a clusterfuck.

I suggest you reread people's reactions in this forum and compare them to the reactions (both in number and severity) of the Destiny or Tomb Raider outcry. Pretty much no denying that saying "where was the outcry over Destiny" is ridiculous when by all accounts it was massive and this equates to an agitated "meh" from the majority of posters.

Then you are either blind or reading through glasses tagged with #XB1M13.

I thought all of that was temporarily exclusive...

Pretty sure that's correct.

If CDPR want to mail out a cloth map to PS4 CE owners 6 months down the track that would be awesome too!

In any case I want a cloth map. Gimme the option to buy a cloth map without having to buy an X1 please!

You were certainly in there trying to downplay whatever mild uproar there was:

Hell, that thread was only 15 pages. A little baby thread.

Yea and your point? Just because I didn't think it was worth the uproar it caused doesn't mean the uproar magically didn't happen.

And yes that was one of the multiple threads and it was 15 pages. There were tons of them and even so 15 pages is a hell of a lot more than 7 so I don't see your point.

Good for them for being transparent about this. I'm okay with this since it doesn't affect the core game and it's not cock-blocking the game from other consoles for a time period.

Lmao @ anyone truly getting upset about this. I refuse to believe there isn't a sense of biasness in some of you guys' uproar.

I'm pretty sure it's all SE's fault everyone is on edge right now, lol.

PS4 owners are should be happy to just get a chance to play this game since it was a 360 exclusive title previously.

Just found it interesting, tis all.

Well look at that here you are posting in a thread about the Destiny Exclusive DLC and yet you turn around and say this

You know what is the same price on two different platforms but not have equal? Destiny. I didn't see the fucking outcry about that.

So you participated in an outcry thread and then proceed to claim there was no outcry. Now that's what I call interesting.

But by all means please do carry on quoting my involvement in threads that prove you are in fact wrong it's quite amusing.

It's like you both ignored the last, on-topic comment that I made.

And I don't see this as outrage. I see a lot of drive by posts, but if you relied on that type of shit to gauge reality, Titanfall bombed and Tomb Raider 2013 wasn't going to be a contender for NeoGAF 2013 GOTY. I feel that there's more discussion here on how foolish people are acting than people getting up in arms.

These 'Soony Too' and Microsoft persecution posts don't bring anything to the discussion.

Doesn't worry me in the slightest, it shouldn't worry anyone else if its not in game cut content.

Even then have we seen anything of "real value" be given to an exclusive platform?

That's what I'm guessing. The timing of the news is probably what has people upset, but still, lol. I could understand if it was exclusive dlc or something.

Just wanted to chime in and say CDP is great. This is exactly what platform "exclusive" content should be. They are giving buyers on their "partner" platform some cosmetic bonuses. They aren't butchering their game with retailer or platform exclusive IN-GAME CONTENT.

Again, I applaud CDP and I look forward to supporting their COMPLETE product on my platform of choice. Thanks CDP!

I really believe the only reason some are upset at this is because it is MS exclusive. How else does not in game item catch more ire than exclusive in game items for bigger games like Destiny. Moreover, the first game was only on the 360 and no other console.

This is actually hilarious

This is frustrating for me... I mean, this shit does not sell consoles, Microsoft. A cloth map and a deck of cards will not sell a fucking console. I just.... I just don't get it.

God damn... What happened to PC being their home platform. You're my favourite developers CDPR! Y u do dis?! Or was it Bando?!

But thank hell it wasn't in game content. I know CDPR would never do that. But still. This is a huge surprise to me.

That's fine, if you like it and only got a PS4, buy it, take the game out and sell only the game, take the ps4 copy and put it inside...

I'm fairly certain that most of Microsoft's involvement has been to get The Witcher 3 to be primarily promoted in conjunction with the XBO brand than a pack of cards and cloth map that don't have bearing on your experience with the game. More games being marketed for you, the stronger your lineup looks despite the underlying truth being you can have the same, if not better, experience elsewhere.

Plus I'm pretty sure on PC you'll have plenty of gameplay benefits over either console version that Microsoft can't do jack shit about.

My personal thoughts are:

1) It was a nice response from CDP.
2) If you are going to have exclusive content, this is the way to go. So much better than have exclusive in game content.
3) To be honest, I never gave a damn about the maps I would get with the games. The massive game manuals on the other hand made order the old CRPGs worth it. I loved reading those things.

Not sure I see the issue. Digital versions usually don't get physical goodies. Like I guess packaged PC and ps4 owners got shafted.

I honestly don't have a problem with this, I don't buy collectors editions normally either way.

However... If I was a PC Witcher fan, I would be disappointed that its original fan base was not the one to get the "more special" special edition.

I also get annoyed at this PR dressing of the issue. Just be honest and cut the shit already, this is the same sort of shit MS does that keeps pissing people off.

"Listen we would love to provide everyone the same content and are making sure game wise it is the same. We also need to maximize profits to keep making games, so MS offered us some extra cash to do this and we took it."
