Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 12: Gwah, hah. Welcome to the Bowser's game.

Also, forgive my ignorance, but where is all the Tharja love coming from? Is it just that Summertime DLC fanservice, or is there something more?

For me i kinda just liked tharja but like with the rest of the FE:A cast the supports really just helped me overall like the character more lol

It never made much sense to me either. She's like Awakening's Mia I guess
but worse

Never played Radiant Dawn (Awakening is actually my first FE!), but I take it you mean Mia was also absurdly popular in spite of fairly divided opinions. To be fair, I don't dislike Tharja--the whole "I'm gonna hex you *giggle*" schtick is kind of cute, and she's inherently infinitely better than trash characters like Sumia and Olivia.

YEAH

They are just confused about who the best character in Awakening is: Henry.

Miguel, I think I love you <3
Few things make me happier than hearing Henry shout "Die!" with a big, delightful grin on his face... *sigh*

Yanderes are the trendy thing these days I guess.

I've always been more of a tsundere kind of guy, myself.
Slay me, Mother Soryu-Langley!

I agree--for the most part. Some characters became a lot more appealing to me through those conversations, but those supports also just fueled my flames of hatred for the characters I dislike.

It's from people who are wrong about Anna.

They're all wrong! Anna is the one true queen. Werk.

I'm in 'We are getting shit this week' camp.

My problem with this point of view is the fact that is we aren't getting anything this week, when are we going to? I don't think Sakurai would like the rest of the newcomers to have anticlimatic reveals less than a week before launch, plus Hyrule Warriors has been released so Nintendo has shifted or must shift to Smash hype.

I wonder if Rare had stuck around with Nintendo if Smash would have ever incorporated Conker. His M Rating makes me say no, but Snake got in, so who knows.

This made me think about the potential of Rare releasing new Conker games on Nintendo systems and imagining Iwata talking about the features in a Direct.

It wouldn't happen, because Banjo & Kazooie would have tooken that spot. :P
Well, I would've hoped multiple Rare characters would make it in. Juno and Vela from Jet Force Gemini would've been really cool.

Haha! That would be really funny.

I feel like I've lost the hype for these games again. :-\ It's like the high from the Lucina/Robin reveal has finally fizzled out. Meta Knight is also the least exciting veteran to me (never liked his design, to be honest). I feel like we know everything at this point, or at least that it's futile to hope for something exciting, like Snake or a newcomer not on the Gematsu list. (Yes, I know Lucina/Robin should disprove that, but it's so close to launch now...)

This is probably exacerbated by Silent Hills and The Evil Within suddenly arresting my attention. Well, more so TEW -- Silent Hills had me spellbound with the playable teaser and the talent trio of Kojima/del Toro/Reedus, but now that we know it's 2016, I don't really feel like thinking about it, lol. TEW, though, is looking so good now that I've watched that hour-long demo that really established the game's rhythm, something akin to a hybrid of REmake and RE4, which is wonderful. Can't wait to play it.

Anyways, back to Smash. Not really sure what would get me pumped at this point. Nintendo is making surprisingly little noise in recent weeks given the proximity to launch.

M rating or not, Snake is a character that would still work in Smash if you took away his guns. Conker is way too inappropriate for Smash Bros. No way would have Miyamoto or anyone at Nintendo allowed Sakurai or Rare to let Conker be alongside Mario and Pikachu.

Banjo and Joanna would have happened. Probably multiple Banjo characters, too.

- Banjo would have easily been a character in Brawl, if not Melee
- Grunty, Conker and Joanna would have been easy Assist Trophies
- The Proximity Mine would have still been a Perfect Dark/Goldeneye Item
- Spiral Mountain as a stage
- Grant Kirkhope on the audio team for Brawl.
- Viva Pinata as a Nintendo IP + Pinata item you beat to get health restoring candy (or health hurting sours)

:(

Oh no doubt, I would have loved most Rare characters being in Smash. With Banjo, Conker and Battletoads being closest to my heart.

Willing to bet Mumbo would have been playable too. I would have mained the hell out of him.

Joanna probably would have been playable. Perfect Dark was a very important franchise to Nintendo. It already had an item in Melee.

That's good that you are at realistic level for the hype. :) However, I think we are going to get some new informations for next four weeks.

I feel you, all this silence since the Robin/Lucina reveal, and we still haven't seen wild footage of any of them, nor Pac-Man or Palutena or Mii, while I could tell you absolutely everything about Smash Run.

Yep, Banjo would have been in Melee, Mumbo would have been added in Brawl. Or if Banjo was in Brawl, move Mumbo to Smash 4.

I... wish this wasn't just an alternate universe fantasy. Nintendo losing Banjo broke my heart.

I think, in a "Nintendo bought Rare" world, Banjo-Kazooie would definitely made the Brawl cut. Probably one of the first reveals at that. I think right now we'd be discussing whether Gruntilda or Conker would be "the new Rare rep" for Smash 4...

Honestly, I never really liked the Banjo games, but it definitely feels like he belongs in Smash. The one that got away.

Nintendo should have kept the Banjo IP like they did the Donkey Kong and Star Fox IPs. The situations were different (Nintendo created DK and SF), but still, it was a massive potential IP Nintendo got rid of that fit in perfectly in their character line up.

Even without Rare behind it, Nintendo would have took care of that IP better than Microsoft has.

I wonder why you kept avoiding to answer my question when I'm trying to see your opinion about unlockable characters for Smash 4.

Spiral Mountain would've been amazing. And it would've meant more Grant Kirkhope!
(The only good thing about Nuts and Bolts was the music)
