Unfortunately, for sentencing's sake, emotion tends to have to take a bit of a backseat. So I'm unsure as to how they'll sentence him. I doubt the judge will be kind though, if she's seen him many times before.

Ok, 10 years. And he'll still beat someone to death when he gets out. Or 15 years.

My point is he shouldn't ever be let out. I'm all for NOT putting non-violent people in prison for life for pot brownies. But guys like this that beat the absolute shit out of multiple people over trivial nonsense? I'm not saying "mandatory life no questions asked" but this specific dude...with all the shit he's been saying on twitter PLUS his crime should be life. He's vicious.

A guy like him should be put away for life...

I'm always amazed at the differences between the justice systems of America and Australia. In Australia he'd probably get let out after 5 years time after time regardless of how bad he hurt someone :-/. We've had a number of criminals commit crimes, serve time only to commit worse crimes when they get out.

You shouldn't look too much into that, given that Australia has a better recidivism rate than the US.

Absolutely. Non-violent criminals should just be fined. Let the government make some money instead of making taxpayers finance an extended stay in prison. People like War Machine are the ones that need to be locked away because they obviously can't function in society.

there is a lot that they dont know but there is also a lot they do know. youll get brain damage from repeated concussions and probably start slurring your words but i doubt it will make you insanely violent like that. from listening to both their stories both really seemed to have fucked up childhoods. mayhem often talks about knocking out his dad and shit and war machine talked about like almost killing his step dad. there are a lot of great guys in mma who do it for sport and competition but i think it also draws in a lot of broken people who really dont know anything else other than fighting.

Except, factually speaking, our recidivism rate is much better. It always amazes me how people here want to emulate the greatly flawed American criminal justice system out of a desire for punishment rather than better social outcomes.

What info would be interesting exactly? The dude is a mindless lump of violence. There is nothing of any value to be learned from him.
Anyone who might otherwise come into contact with him but for his incarceration is better off.

listen, what he did was shitty as fuck. he himself may be beyond fixing but if you think someone cant get some kind of insight into why someone can do something like that you are being extremely naive. just from hearing him on a podcast he talks about his childhood and it seemed really bad. super abusive parents, stuff like that. there can be something gained from learning about how someone gets so violent.

I'd also expect war machine to have "WAR MACHINE INSIDE" on the outside of his car.

"She came running to our door. We couldn't even tell it was a woman. My mother immediately called the cops and they hung up on her. Even Christy tried calling the cops, as well, and they hung up on her, too. It took the cops like 15 or 20 minutes to get to our neighborhood, which is just way too long. That's crazy. We had an emergency here."

When confronted by NBC about the phone call fail, Las Vegas metropolitan police offered no response.

No way... i just heard of this guy for the first time on Joe Rogan's podcast last night. He sounded a little off. Very unstable and violent as he talked about former assaults that almost became murders.

Isn't it a huge violation to hang up on someone calling emergency numbers? I thought even if you hung up they're meant to call back to see if everything is ok. That's fucked up.

If you guys are on sherdog, reports came in that war machine was captured as there were reports of him shoving another woman in the car park of the motel where he was caught. The cops were called because he was being violent with another woman.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure 911 dispatch isn't allowed to hang up on anyone regardless of the call. I'm not sure how it is in other cities but 911 isn't the police in my town, they're dispatch for all emergency services. I knew a guy who left working with me to go do it and all it took was an application and a few screenings and he was dumb as hell. Unless they called a direct police line, I feel like the 911 dispatcher should be getting raked over the coals on this one and big time.

There are more than enough police officers fucking-up on a daily basis out there that there is really no need to pass more blame when it doesn't appear necessary. Most dispatchers are NOT police officers, including those at Las Vegas Metro PD. Those are civilian positions which are used to dispatch fire, police, and, EMS. You might as well be saying "Fuck the Fire Department", because they were just as informed as the police officers if dispatch was fucked-up.

Let me give you all some insight on 911 dispatch centers and PSAPs.

In most areas, especially areas with large populations, when you dial 911 the call is routed to a Public-service Answering Point. The dispatchers are almost always civilians and they will dispatch for Police, Fire and EMS.

When it comes to hanging up on 911 calls, that all depends on the agencies policy. In most places it is up to the dispatchers discretion and the centers work culture. Some will always call back or send a welfare check if they had to hang up, while other places won't do either (mostly because they are too busy/spread too thin). Also, even if you call 911 and speak to a dispatcher the emergency services are not required to respond, unless specific laws are in place to force them, most places can simply ignore your need for help.

Now some info specific to Las Vegas. Vegas doesn't have as many cops as they really need and thus they are kept pretty busy and aren't able to respond to every call. In my opinion their dispatch center is pretty bad. The dispatchers are often rude and impatient.

Source: I grew up in a law enforcement family and currently work as an alarm dispatcher and I call dispatch centers everyday I work.

From what I've gathered, there was a welfare check in this situation. The cops ended up going to the wrong home due to misinformation, according to the local news.
