If this leak is legit and that stage selection screen is complete, then it has fewer new stages than Melee did.

Again, if this is legitimate, then it would seem their decision to split stages between the two versions was a terrible one.

All of those "arguments" are nothing more than speculation and whining. Indescribably childish drivel. You simply don't have the sort of insight on the development process to judge the inclusion of characters you want or not.

Concerning validity of leaks--just because something is seemingly absurd doesn't mean it's fake. So qualms about the roster or the character select screen seemingly being out of whack to your preconceptions aren't really good knocks against it. You should remember back to the Melee and Brawl days the ties people twisted themselves in to convince themselves that their legit leaks were fake. ("Why are all the characters on the edges of the select screen down a couple pixels? Fake!")

That said, I'm unsure of this leak. I'm hedging on fake just because of the lack of actual images of the game in action instead of just menus. That said, there are some things here that are disturbingly real.

And if real, that stage selection is essentially all of my stage selection fears incarnate. Hot garbage. The character roster is alright enough, but that stage selection is just rancid. If this is real, I really hope the Wii U version is the more "definitive" of the two on this front, because that's just awful.

I like this character roster, and I hope the actual one reflects something close to it (Dr. Mario returning would make sense if he's a last minute addition clone like Lucina, and I'd be okay with Dark Pit with different weapons). But the images are not convincing enough for me to think they're real. It's not because I hate the roster.

Wasn't Dark Pit a fairly popular character from Uprising?

I mean, if I may be real, a Medusa cloned from Palutena > Dark Pit cloned from Pit, but to say bias towards his own work would be the only thing that would result in Dark Pit's inclusions as a clone is kinda disingenuous.

I don't get the meltdowns over Dark Pit and Dr. Mario, and here's why.
These are two incredibly easy characters for them to make. They require only a model swap (hell, in Dark Pit's case, just a pallete swap), a few animations (Dr. Mario requires 6-his melee down aerial, his down B, his taunts, and his victory. Pit's harder to guess, but it's possible just 4), and the editting of some moveset properties. This is something a hobbyist modder could make in relatively little time. Someone with access to the development tools could make it even quicker.
Now, let's look at Lucas and Wolf. They require their animations to be updated to Smash 4 standards. This might seem like little work, but it's certainly much more work than the above two. They also require porting their articles, their moveset properties, and making everything else about these characters work in Smash 4 without changing how they play much. They would take a lot more work.

If you want further proof, let's just think about this. How long did it take Roy or Dr. Mario to get modded into Brawl? Not long. To get a seperate character slot, yeah, but that's another issue entirely and doesn't really factor in here. Now, how long did Mewtwo take? A lot longer than those two.

You could say the same thing about Lucina as far as "deserving a spot" goes. And while I agree about the second part, they also revealed Game and Watch without updating the website, and Lucina didn't get her own trailer either.

Lucina was revealed officially alongside Robin in their own trailer, while Dark Pit was mearly hinted at and never outright confirmed. I think Dark Pit invalidates the entire leak.

It's like Lucina. Dark Pit rounds out the roster without requiring as much effort as a full-blown new character. Essentially, Pit with different weapons, of which Uprising had hundreds.
