My favorite's Our War Game and a close second is the first movie.

The rest... meh to bad... though I don't think I've seen them all.

First two are my favorite. Don't care for either 02 one that much. I like both Tamers ones except for the endings in both of them. The Frontier one is probably my least favorite out of all of them because of how they tried to throw 3d animation into everything.

A bit of topic but as a fan of Digimon and Pokemon, I think my brain just exploded,

I already got Sakuyamon on the mind thanks to completing Digimon World 3 recently!

I'm rather looking forward to this Rika in Tamers. From the couple of gifs I've seen in this thread, she seems pretty damn boss.

It feels good to finally know the reference of this Mega Ampharos .gif. Warping is cool as ice.

This thread needs Sakuyamon:

(dub, which I actually thought did a good job because the Biomerge music was a great remix): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXHXI-QkPDI
So glad that she's 2D animated. It holds up much better than the boys digivolutions.

Rika is awesome! Best digi-girl. (Not saying much, I know.)

I'm actually up through episode 14 of Tamers, buy I wanted to talk about episode 13, "Juggernaut".

I think I get it. I think this was the episode where Tamers really clicked for me.

Up until now, I was thrown by the more natural pacing of the show, even while still enjoying it. The scene where Takato reflects on Guilemons personal growth was when I really got what the show is trying is to do.

I like the instantaneous relationships of the previous series, but Tamers doesn't want to do that because that's just not how relationships are. I think I preferred 01/02 as a kid because we got these episodes once-twice a week; A lot happening was preferable. Tamers isn't concerned with that though and while that made me not follow it as closely back then, I'm really enjoying it now.

And I think it's doing it all well too, not just doing it. Renamon's relationship with Rika progressed to it's current state really nicely and the first Matrix Digivolution was really satisfying. The aftermath is that fight is a nice scene.

Bonus: Tamaki is totally William Stryker!

Personally, the only thing that's making me fond more on Adventure is
WereGarurumon

Read the thread.

What is this shit, do people actually think 01 can be topped by anything? Blasphemous. Legitimately makes me angry. Tamers ain't shit.

But there's no 01.

So what's everyone's favorite Digimon film(s)? Up to now I have only seen Our War Game praised from people online. Now that I've just finished 02, I'm going to watch it and the third before Tamers.

I loved the first short film with little Hikari/Tai and it made for a great prequel to the events of the original Adventure. Any films to look out for past the third? Any I should skip for my own good? I wasn't originally planning to check out so much, but if it comes to that I wouldn't mind being informed.

Our War Game is just the best.

Hurricane Touchdown is second for me

also my digimon ranking list was only for protagonists, if I was going to choose one from each season it would go

Veemon (Still) > Gaomon > Terriermon > Agumon

why don't you guys like savers ;-;

While on the topic of Ken, I disliked how
Archnemon (or whoever they're working for) took so much credit for Ken's transformation. I didn't mind the "push -> shove" bait they utilized to manipulate him, but with it leading directly to him making Dark Towers which the antagonists desired and making him a complete pawn for their desires (with complementary dark chip thing that entered him which I'm guessing leads to his "evil change")...

It gets even sillier when you factor in the Wonderswan games starring Ryo, which we got a brief glimpse of in the show through Ken's flashbacks.

Long story short? Arachnemon, Oikawa and thus, Vamdemon, too, did more to take advantage of a "happy accident" involving Ken taking the hit of the Dark Seed from Moon=Milleniumon that was meant for Ryo.

But the thing that really bugged me about that, with regards to how it all fit into the larger story, was just how seemingly everybody on the Side of EVIL(tm) knew about how Ken had that Dark Seed in him, and how to work it into their ongoing plans.

It just came off as way too convenient, whether they were going to pursue an angle involving Dagomon and the Dark Ocean, Daemon or Vamdemon.

Man Ken should have been the main character of 02.

For as much as the plot revolved around him, as well as being the only one who we actually saw real grow over the course of the series? He pretty much was the main character of 02, in my opinion. Don't let the absence of goggles on his head fool you!

The only reason Daisuke is even remotely relevant was because of V-mon and how he was integral to Ken's evolution and redemption.

I'd put up with Daisuke's presence in 03, if it at all implied that Ken, Wormmon and V-mon would be back. Ken just needed to be with the better Chosen crew.

Really? Is there any more to this or anything like it?

"My conundrum came when Takato, who adores all things Digimon and loves Guilmon more than anyone in the world, gives in to the weakness and confusion within him to make Guilmon digivolve into a horrifying form. Something very powerful was needed to guide Takato to the proper path to digivolution.

What could give Takato this strong impact? Who else but the main character of Digimon, Tai, and his partner Agumon?

When creating the rough structure of the middle section of the series, I put forth this idea.

A huge debate ensued between myself and the producer, the director, and the many other staff members. The one thing that we all believed was that we wanted to choose whichever path would make "Digimon Tamers" a better dramatic series. My conundrum had the unexpected result of allowing me to confirm that all our hearts were as one on this issue.

We were unable to come to a conclusion through committee, and so I took it upon myself to come up with an answer. Thus, episode 35 ("Give A Little Bit") was created. Part of what helped me decide that the episode would work was some words of advice from Mr. Hiroyuki Kakudou, who was series director for the first season of Digimon, as well as the director for this episode."

you're a beacon of hope, i-hate-u, but all this hate for Davis isn't cool either.

He isn't that bad :/

Glad to see Veemon getting love though.

He has his moments, but if you look at the goggle boys of the first 5 seasons, with the exception of Daisuke, all have multiple episodes dedicated to their growth as a character. Daisuke is perfect from the first episode, and did not have any major obstacle to overcome like Taichi, Takato, Takuya or Masaru.

But like I said, he has good moments like during the Chimeramon and Demon Lord fights.

How would have Takato known about Taichi? Adventure shows were not TV series in the Tamers in the Japanese version iirc. There were a seperate universe all together. The TV series doesn't make sense in the case of Ryo.

That would be

I hate the relationship disconnect between the movies and the TV show. In any case, Taichi don't need Sora, he a true boss.

By no means am I saying that he doesn't have his flaws, or that he's the best protagonist, or even the best character. All I'm saying is that he doesn't deserve a lot of the crap he gets just because he isn't as great of a character as Tai, Takato, etc. I actually think he's better in regards of being a friend. He was 100x more supportive of Ken than I think any other character in the series has been to anyone else IMO, but I haven't seen the shows in a while so I may be excluding things about other characters.

SPEAKING OF, I just started watching Adventure 1 in Japanese, and oh baby the Japanese opening is way better than the English opening. Doesn't have that nostalgia though.

Crunchyroll apparently lied to me though and only has Xros Wars. I'm watching 1 - Tamers on Netflix, but I'm gonna have to wander around for Savers and Frontier :/

Pretty much. Tough some people might like the Digimon games more because they're totally different amonst themselves and Pokémon.

like anything else, it's just a matter of opinion really. some of the digimon games are more fun to play than pokemon I think. Digimon World 1 on PS1 was pretty great when I was a kid. I love both series though.

The japanese is cool and all but I kind of miss the english dub voicework (Specifically Izzy/Koushiro). I wish there was a Dub with the JP soundtrack :/

Motimon's voice is fantastic though lol

edit: I kinda like Matt with longer hair
