Final smashes may not be as powerful as they should be, but I think they're fine. Just having one and being able to get someone with it gives a great feeling, kind of like getting the first attack in a game.

Smash clearly needs more villains. I think I've seen that the majority would NOT want to see K.Rool added. Is this true?

Why do you guys think K.Rool is a bad choice for a character?

I love K.Rool
probably because of nostalgia

I don't recall seeing the Iridescent Glint Beetle or the Find Mii ghosts, and there's a few Kirby enemies I can't recall, but I wouldn't be surprised if I've just forgotten.

Beetle, Yellow Ghost.

Also I don't think anyone is using Smash Run enemies as concrete proof of certain characters being playable. It just goes along with the fact that there's at least some reason to believe they will be there (veteran status, Gematsu [yes I know it doesn't really hold water, but it still counts as a reason]), and there are no enemies from other unrepresented series (blah blah yellow ghost find mii stage i know). That's all, nothing definitive for sure.

The only time I've seen that is in regards to "relevance" and a good chunk of the cast isn't "relevant" so I'm not sure why that's an issue.

I think he'd be a great addition. I'm honestly baffled why he hasn't shown up.

ugghhhh

So I get back to college today only to find out that they suddenly decided to stop supporting wireless gaming on the network and personal routers aren't allowed. Anybody know if there's a way to get a 3DS working through ethernet somehow? Otherwise it looks like I'm stuck with single-player Smash until the holidays...
Make your PC a wireless hotspot?

I figure that it's simply a case of from what we've seen it appears that Smash Run is only drawing enemies from series represented with playable reps.
In the case of the sneaky spirit I think it's along the lines that if you were to go outside playable reps series for an enemy to punch in the face why of all series would you go to Rhythm Paradise/Heaven/Tengoku? not exactly a combat focused series even if you are occasionally slashing or arrowing things to the rhythm, sort of seems like it's in there since it fits smash run just enough and so the series has something to show in the mode.

It's hardly a concrete argument I know but it's something.

Yeah, when you look at what we've actually got confirmed so far for Smash Run it's:

DKC enemies
Find Mii enemy
(A fuckton of) Kid Icarus enemies
Kirby enemies
Mario enemies
A Mega Man enemy
A Sonic enemy
A Dig Dug enemy/Pac-Man friend
Pikmin enemies
Pokemon
Subspace Army goons
Zelda enemies

All of those are tied to a playable series or are Smash natives, so they're all accounted for. On top of that we know of the Polar Bear from Ice Climbers and the Sneaky Spirit from Rhythm Heaven. One of them was already in Melee as an Adventure mode enemy, so yeah they could've just ported him over for kicks, but that doesn't explain the Sneaky Spirit at all. It's not a confirmation, but it's odd that in a mode with so many foes with relations to playable characters that we've got two nobodies.

Well disregard me and my awful memory then!

He hasn't been seen in a while and doesn't really mean a lot to the DKC series anymore. More personally, I think he's poorly designed. He's Bowser, but even more of an asshole clown, and with a different reptile.

He wont be rapping therefore I don't want him.

I'm actually serious

Oh, I totally want K. Rool. He's my 4th most wanted character, and the other 3 are the infamous Ridley, 3rd Party Bayonetta, and the deconfirmed (Arguably, but I'd bet money on it) Wonder Red.

I also want more actual-villains too (Arguments can be made for certain alts/certain characters being passed the Villain Ball); K. Rool I want for the sake of him being K. Rool, but more villains'd be nice in my opinion. It's why I was hoping for Ghirahim. Oh well. Maybe we'll see Captain Syrup?
HA!

I have no opinion on K. Rool since I'm not a fan of the DKC series and the only game I own is Returns on 3DS so there's only tikis there. I played the first one in passing because my friend brought it over to play a long while back.
But if it's more villains, I'm ok with it I suppose.

Sneaky Spirits are also curious because the only reason you put them in is if one needed some representation for the Rhythm Tengoku series. They are not an obvious bad guys due to the nature of the games so it basically feels like someone needed a RT enemy for a purpose so they had to give some thought as to what RT character could suit the bill.

This is why it strongly suggests a RT character is part of the roster.

I know Lucina is a "clone" of marth.
But I have found it interesting had she been based off Ike. Even though that would make no sense.

At this rate I just want a third DK character period. K.Rool irrelevancy aside, DK is severely underrepresented in Smash and it's the one thing that "leak" has me bummed about. Couldn't even include Dixie, Sakurai?

I am not one of those people.

I guess he doesn't really show up anymore, so he may no longer be relevant, but he was the final boss in donkey kong games spanning more than 10 years. I think that's pretty significant.

Not liking him as a character is acceptable though, I can't argue against you if you have different desires or tastes in terms of characters.

I mean hey, the Kremlings have been gone just as long as K. Rool and they are in Smash Run. Irrelevancy means nothing to Sakurai
(unless he's dealing with Game Freak over Mewtwo).

Interesting thing my brother and I discussed
If:

- If the leak is 100% correct
- You assume Toon Link is just Young Link rebalanced with a different name

Than:
- Pokemon is the only series to ever have a non-clone cut from Smash bros.
- Pokemon lost 2 characters the last 2 games.
- Roy is the only character ever cut from Smash Bros who was not a Pokemon.
- Zelda hasn't gotten a newcomer since Melee.

Pretty interesting, especially with Roy being the only non-Pokemon cut from Smash.

About final smashes...

I would say that my answer can be applied to many nintendo games apart from smash bros. Its important that the gameplay by which a franchise is recogniced is simple and fun. Also, its important that any new ideas/mechanics that are added in each new game of the franchise respect that great and simple foundation. I would say that most mario games do that really well. With a new mario game, they normally dont add new crazy mechanics just because they are fun. If those mechanics overlap with the mario gameplay foundation, they are not added because the most important aspect for the game being fun is that basic gameplay working. Theres NO "easy" additions with each new game.

I call the smash ball one of those "easy" additions: its added because its "fun", but it overlaps with the basic smash bros gameplay, and thats why its not fun :P When the smash ball appears everyone stops playing smash bros until the final smash is over. The smash ball its an addition to big for the game and, during a significant time, all the game turns around it instead off around smash bros.

Items can be ok. But, in brawl, theres some that are too much for the game, and the smash ball is one of them. Dragoon (the 3 part one) is another one. Theres other items with the same problem and some assist trophies and some pokemon. They are detrimental to the gameplay. Its just that the smash ball its the better example. Some items were too complex/powerfull in brawl.

Items need to be simple and coexist with the "non item gameplay".

Another huge problem that the final smashes (the smash ball) have is the "cinematic" one. When, before, i said that "when the smash ball appears everyone stops playing smash bros until the final smash is over", i didnt mean that you literally stoped playing... you still play, but instead off smash bros you play the smash ball game. Ok, so it was not literal... BUT you also literally stop playing, because you have too look at the cutscene of the final smash. This changes a lot depending on the final smash, and i dont want to talk about final smashes individually, but in a lot of them i have to look at the screen waiting for the "little" cutscene to end.

I would accept the smash ball if they changed it a lot, but, right now: NO TO THE SMASH BALL

(i didnt even talked about how ridiculously invalanced final smashes can be...)

I wish Medusa was a clone of Palutena. :(

I haven't gotten that far in KI:U(controls are just awful, I have to really be in the mood to want to play it) so I haven't met Medusa but I'm sure she's not just a recolored pit so I'd pick her over Dark Pit any day. I mean come on, dark pit was an alt color in brawl.
