Like georly said, we don't need to replace all of his moves. Just one would be good to make him varied. Kind of like Robin who can use a sword and tomes. Just that Ganon can can use either without limits.

Also, full disclosure, if G&W looks off in the banner it's because I couldn't find a picture of him that would work, so I had to trace a larger one for it in Photoshop.
I didn't notice, but i'm not an artist. Good job!
Never been great at game and watch, but a few of my friends mained him. Totally respect him.

Yeah Game and Watch! He's always one of my favorites. He's usually a challenge to use properly, but once you get him down he's really fun, especially when you get those lucky 9s!
Also, at this point, I really enjoy using every single veteran on that list in Brawl (like they're in my top choices), so that's cool! All that's left is my #1 pick, but something tells me my choice might not make the top 20.

Honestly, they really should try to declone some characters to some extent...
Give Toon Link some aerial kicks like Young Link had. Give him interchangeable arrows (Fire, Ice, Light), and give him abilities like the Gust Jar, Deku Leaf, and Hurricane Slash. Maybe even a Fire Rod too.

Wouldn't giving Toon Link aerial kicks make him more of a clone? One of the main differences of Toon Link is that he doesn't kick.

Mr. Game & Watch is a composite representation of various generic characters featured in Nintendo's Game & Watch products and video game series created in 1980 by Gunpei Yokoi. The Game & Watch made handhelds vastly popular. Many toy companies followed in the footsteps of Game & Watch, such as Tiger Electronics and their Star Wars themed games. Nintendo's Game & Watch units were eventually superseded by the original Game Boy. Each Game & Watch was only able to play one game, due to the use of a segmented LCD display being pre-printed with an overlay. The speed and responsiveness of the games was also limited by the time it took the LCD to change state. The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) controllers were based on the controls in Game & Watch, and Game & Watch Multi Screen version became the model on which the Nintendo DS was based. It could be said that the Mr. Game and Watch characters original appearance was initially seen in the first game in the Game & Watch series entitled Ball.

I could see that happening for QA at the end of a development cycle (right before the game goes gold), but I still have a hard time believing that internal QA that occurs during the game's develop would only provide limited builds to its testers. *shrug*

As implausible as it might be, I always thought it would be cool to have paper mario be a Game and Watch alt. it would kind of be a disservice to PM as a character, but I doubt he would get in with a brand new moveset

I'll never forget unlocking him in Melee over at my cousins house. My cousin was so disappointed, he wanted someone "cooler". I was amazed and entranced, and I mained him for a long time just to spite him with bacon. He taught me about an entire Nintendo era that I had no idea about at the time, and the amazing part was he's so well realized, he taught people that stuff through his moveset alone.

"Spite him with the bacon" needs to be a phrase used more often.
Also, couldn't agree more, G&W is a great character that celebrates an often overlooked part of Nintendo's history.
