Okay, but Skyward Sword reveals Ganondorf's origin, so it's not like he's just gone completely and utterly ignored since Twilight Princess (unlike K. Rool, who's gone totally ignored since DKC 3).

Eh. K Rool was in that Mario baseball game. He also was heavily referenced by the final boss in Tropical Freeze, who honestly should've just been Viking K. Rool with how much they made him seem like some sort of mystery character who looked and fought just like K. Rool.

Talking about all those beautiful Ganon designs makes me sad that we are going to see TP Ganondorf, the boring one. Not even the long hairs from HW can save him.

Samus was never redesigned to match her Metroid Prime look; for some bizarre reason, the Prime series is considered a spin-off by Sakurai. Instead, they just glossed over it and are now focusing on Other M, a game hated by pretty much everybody.
True, I would've loved her Prime look to be her suit in Brawl or this one (though, I actually like the Other M suit in the Smash 4 engine). Has Sakurai actually mentioned viewing the Prime series as a spin-off?

I don't see anything wrong with TP Ganondorf. It's iconic, menacing, & badass. It just works.

Japan also didn't buy Super Metroid, who cares about the Japanese perspective on Metroid? The series is unpopular there in general, not just Prime. It's like asking for the American perspective on Mother.
Smash Bros. is a Japanese game, so obviously it's being designed from a Japanese perspective. Sakurai doesn't have a personal vendetta against Metroid Prime.

The entire "Japan doesn't like Prime" thing is so pointless. Okay, Japan didn't buy Prime. They also didn't buy any Metroid game in large numbers since the first. Who gives a shit whether Japan likes Prime when the overall Metroid fanbase there is already tiny?

Oh, I don't think he does; I've pointed out before that he even referenced Prime in Kid Icarus Uprising. It's just silly to believe it's because "he doesn't love Prime because the Japanese see it as an unpopular spinoff."

Technically there's DK64, and all those spinoff games PAON had him in. Last one he was in was 2008, which still was a while ago. I think either Nintendo or Retro has a beef with the Kremlings. I think they're gone for good, too.

If Japan doesn't like Metroid then why do they have Metroid Zero Mission on Wii U VC and we don't? Are you implying that NoA is incompetent when it comes to Virtual Console releases? FOR SHAME.

But now that we've seen MusouDorf's flowing locks, there's no going back =[
Hyrule Warriors is a bit too recent, plus we already have the TP Link, TP Zelda, & (What Would Have Been) TP Sheik.

I can see the whole Zelda crew (sans Toon Link) getting HW alts as DLC later down the road, but Ganondorf won't get his HW design as his default.

I feel like both Dixie and King K Rool "deserve to be in Smash". If you look at how far DKC has come since Brawl the series deserves 2 characters and at least 2 new stages.
King K Rool is my most wanted newcomer and would prefer him over Dixie, but Dixie's ok too. I just tired of the underrepresentation the DK series gets in Smash.

LOL

Remember when Joe tried to defend the shitty 50 hz port of Super Metroid Europe received?

This guy knows whats up.

Still no PotD, a crying shame. I'm actually surprised that we're actually keeping ourselves in check this time & not going bat-shit crazy. Then again, we haven't entered "Sakurai's Late" Mode........yet.

the weird psychological profiles that Nintendo fans invent for Japanese programmers and executives never cease to amaze

In fairness I see it everywhere, but it tends to mostly come up with Nintendo fans.

I forget what it was before, but someone tried to convince everyone that Miyamoto hates stories and actively tries to stamp them out from all Nintendo games. When pointed out that he insists on grandiose stories for Zelda, it soon became "He doesn't hate all stories, just Mario."

I love the design, but it's now tied to Ganondorf's comic, ineffectual Brawl persona. If it returns, hopefully the character's been revamped considerably. I don't really care if he remains a clone at this point, so long as he's actually fun to use.

A dating sim Prime game would sell in Japan.

K Rool is featured in:
-The first Donkey Kong Country series
-DK64
-Most the GBA, DS and Wii Donkey Kong spin-offs
-Mario Super Sluggers
-As a trophy (the Melee one having an incredibly Meleeish design, I might add) in the most recent Smash Bros. games
K. Rool is only referenced in:
-DKCR and DKCTF: The first as a small joke, the second as a huge reference by the final boss
K. Rool is not featured in:
-Games where DK is an antagonist, namely the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series

Overall, I'd say K. Rool is very relevant to the DK series, even if he wasn't in the two most recent DKC games. And it's not like he's heavily ignored by Japanese studios, as he was in all those Japanese-developed spin-offs.

Dixie would be a good choice and goes well with Nintendo's new female-friendly marketing. K Rool just doesn't seem relevant anymore, and I honestly can't see him well placed in this game. His design, like Ridley's, don't lend themselves well to the brightly coloured, 'cutesy' feel of this game. Open to anything of course, just my two cents.

Why is ganondorf being mentioned when you still have the one game wonder sheik?

I've never really felt much attachment to K. Rool and think his design would stick out a lot though, so I don't mind him not being in.

Basically my point is put ridley in already.

It's not that Sakurai doesn't love Prime -- it's that I feel the games are represented fairly in Smash Bros. with a stage, boss, and Assist Trophy, and so I don't understand the whining. Prime fans aren't owed a playable Dark Samus.

Anyone else hate the weird spiky crown thing that TP/Brawl and HW Ganon has on his head. I don't know what it is but he would look better without it.
