God, the comic's improved so much since the early years when it was just "LOL Nintendo and loose art". Even a lame Mega Man reference punchline is saved because the set-up has effort put into it and is funny on its own. That middle panel in the second-to-last row perfectly captures a look of someone barely remaining calm when they're obviously under a lot of stress, right before the breaking point.

I'm going to miss Brawl in the Family. It's one of the few gaming webcomics that felt like its own beast.
 
It is almost as if Sakurai is making the 3DS Smash Bros. game as an introduction to the Wii U one. I think that's actually a good plan...I've played the 3DS one, and I can't see myself committing to it over long periods of time mostly due to controls and the limited screen. I might change my tune though.

I think the characters' position in CSS might be corrected in final version, and it's possible that we might get one or two more stages in.

I wonder how extensive Nintendo is willing to go when it comes to Smash DLC. I mean it is the perfect title for it. Including a new character for Smash is a lot different than including a new character for Mario Kart, but I think it has got to happen. There were probably several characters left on the cutting room floor, and Nintendo has shown that its willing to release content for a game many months after the initial release.

I can't make a Mii that looks like John Stamos, and can't find one online that fits his classic Uncle Jesse look. This is a Mii Fighter dealbreaker for me, why is there no good mullet for the Miis?

Because most of the kids at whom Miis are targeted are too young to have ever even seen a mullet on a real human being.

Sakurai: No, actually, there was never any consideration to having him in previous games, and if you think about it, there hasn't been really a precedent for third-party characters joining other than very special cases like Sonic, during the last game. It's something that wasn't even possible. We're now going into versions four and five within the series—this is only something that's now possible.

Hmm... I may have to say Purple and White to rep Pikmin 2 (prolly my favorite of the three games).

Unless you have Wing or Rock Pikmin done! I wouldn't expect Rock since they haven't appeared in his moveset yet (fingers crossed for custom moves) but really any combination of Wing, Rock, Purple, or White (dream combo would be Rock and White).

In Edinburgh all my friends at school either had a master system or NES until the next gen came out. Before that, sure, the C64 and spectrum were big stuff but once the consoles hit nobody could be bothered fiddling with the tapes anymore compared to just slamming in a cartridge with no load times and better graphics :3

The only ones I really dislike are Mushroomy Kingdom, Flat Zone and Wario Ware. Other than that I'm fine with the selection honestly. Plus it wouldn't surprise me if we got stage DLC down the line, though this being the 3DS version I guess it's a bit less likely than on Wii U.

Bringing back three Melee stages that were already ported to Brawl comes off as lazy. And they couldn't even bring PS1 while they were at it? You know, the stage that's actually based on a handheld game? smh

Also, those Brawl returning stages... fuck. Shocked they didn't bring back New Pork City, since it's from a handheld game and they clearly don't mind bringing back some shitty fucking stages.

I wonder if the old Melee/Brawl stages will have FD mode. That would be sweet.
 
You know if the leak showed all the characters available then I have to assume some are being held back for the launch of the Wii U version.

Expect even more leaks a promotional trailers for the Wii U release.
