PlayStation Network Thread (Vita/PS3/PS4) | August 2014

Am I the only one who is seriously bummed out by the september PS+ lineup? Already have battle royale, I'll try velocity cause you guys say its awesome. But beyond that I'm not gonna touch any of the rest of it. Sigh. Just gimme Japanese games sony pls k thx. All I want. Oh well, there's always october.

Dont' think many JP games have ever been on PS+, not counting Sony's own content? Couple of old Capcom games too I guess. At least try TxK, it's pretty neat

PS+ is a great way to experience games you otherwise wouldn't buy, so I'm rarely bummed about any ps+ announcement (unless I already own all the games).

That's the way I try to think about it. Though every so often I can't help myself when there is a game that I literally could not even try if I wanted to like sportsfriends. Med school is not the best local multiplayer video game environment.

But I am very excited for September. Getting a bunch of plus games to try and Don't Starve cross buy for Vita.

Okay - I just read the blog properly:

Curse them and their wording! I did a ctrl+f and searched the word "cross" and didn't see anything so I thought they didn't mention it. Already own it but better for everyone else so I'm happy.

I have no idea what Sportfriends is

A collection of four minimalist local competitive games. One of which you just try to knock move controllers out of each other's hands and there is nothing at all on the screen. Probably plenty of fun as a party game but every aspect of it is only local multiplayer (unless this changed since the kickstarter).

When will an OT for Velocity 2X pop up? I'll be making a video/videos over the weekend and will have them ready for launch (no info pre-launch sorry)

Im not that hyped neither. But because I cant see which good game would show up at the PS4 right now, since the 1st retail will probably be DriveClub in october.

And for Vita, the only things that would hold my interest nowadays would be Disgaea 3.

Lets see... maybe they will release something that surprises me there.

Indie local multiplayer collection.
Very good game if you have folks over, especially for Johann Sebastian Joust (although you might want to move the furniture for that one).

Thanks. I'll probably try it with some friends then

At this point I'd be happy with even a Disgaea 3 discount lol

Was Sportsfriends $15 or $20 on release?

I need to know the correct amount to accurately mock poodude. Thanks.
Pretty certain it is 15, as I have been eyeing it lately. I am almost more excited for SportsFriends than for Velocity 2x! I was kicking myself for skipping SF at launch when they had an awesome sale, but now I am sittin happy!

Velocity 2X is cross buy with Vita right?

Also the comments in the PS Blog are why I hate humanity sometimes. Stellar month. Best month in a long time.

Yep

and yep. :(

Joe Danger is not though. That means that I won't get Joe Danger 2 for Vita...oh well.

Still, 5 Vita games this month, 3 of which I'm heavily interested in (Velocity was my 3rd most anticipated game period).

Isn't Joe Danger Vita specifically both 1 and 2 together plus some extra Vita stuff? I could have sworn that is what people had been saying.
Edit: Actually, seems that was just mistake on my part with the VIta extra stuff just the added characters in 2.

It's just the first game. JD2 is still coming

Oh, WOW that's some crazy month, especially for the Vita.
Our little handheld is getting 5 games and none of them is a bad game! Velocity 2X, Battle Royale, TxK, Joe Danger and Don't Starve! Nice eh?

My favorite part is the NA/EU parity for PS+ releases. Makes for a much less confusing discussion in this thread and makes for less jealousy both ways. I always get a little worried I am giving someone a NA answer for an EU question in here.

I'm quite hyped for Don't Starve. Can't wait for it.

Since GAF loves TxK so much I guess I'll give it a try. Velocity 2X and Joe Danger will go to the backlog.

I don't know what will happen with PSASBR.

But overall it's not such a good month. But hey, no problem. The quality is there, I'll play other things until I feel like trying those.

YES! for Velocity2X!
YES! for Sportsfriends (bummed that I bought the PS4 version and did not get the PS3 cross-buy.... yea it's only cross-buy if you buy the PS3 version) - can anyone confirm if we are getting PS3 version too?
YES! for PlayStation All-Stars Royale (now I can finally sell off the disc version)
YES! for the Joe Danger Vita (I'll finally finish the game)

- why are people complaining

This month's PS+ is meh, but better than some we've had.

I'm more worried that NA is getting almost no sales compared to EU - who seems to be cleaning up despite not getting a discount on Danganronpa.

Decided to bite on Monster Monpiece. I've been waiting for a sale, so hopefully it doesn't end up discounted in like a week or so lol.

I think it was overall better then last month. As I said, it was unexpected a retail game on PS4 before DriveClub, but, besides I did not like Velocity 1, this Velocity 2x seems pretty good. And Vita got a good ammount of titles (none of my interest though).

I plan on eventually getting Monster Monpiece for lulz, but only once it reaches a low enough price point that I won't feel too ashamed about it (like less than 15$ or so).

I'm excited to start P4G. I'm never played a Persona game before. What do I need to know going in?

If you hate grinding I recommend playing it on easy. It's not a difficult game, but you can't change the difficulty before new game+, and the dungeons can get tedious. Other than that, just have fun

P4G was/is my first Persona game, just jump in and start playing. Around hour 4-6 you will understand whats going on and what you need to do. The game stops holding your hand and it becomes way more enjoyable.

Start your harem, let us know who best girl is.

It's a pretty fun digital card game. Rubbing is optional outside of a single story event, though not doing it limits your card diversity

The best hint I can give you is: on your 1st playthrough use no guides! (Except for some simple ones about how to fuse some personas and stuff like this, if you feel the need).

I played it on normal and I wish I had played it on very easy. Once I was halfway in, I just wanted to get through the dungeons as quick as possible and get back to the story. And I had to grind about 10 hours at the end just to beat the final boss. Put it this way - I just started Persona 3 Portable and I put it on very easy.

Also team Rise.

Sorry Yukiko.

edit - also, you will get to a point in the game where it tells you that your choices from here on out are very important and affect the story in big ways. I recommend looking up a spoiler free guide at this point. Otherwise you will probably not get the true ending. You have to do some really unintuitive stuff in order to achieve it. Like the game goes "you should do this now" and you have to literally say NO. Then it says it again 5 minutes later and you have to tell it NO again. Then you'll get the true ending lol.

Maybe they will fix the bugged trophies for TxK now that it's a PS+ game? Not that anyone will get them but still.
I remember hearing that another game with bugged trophies got them sorted out when it became a PS+ game.
