Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 14: Snake... had a hard life

I have a feeling smash run might get boring playing solo (vs cpu), but I could be wrong.

I personally predict it'll be more fun to fight off all the classic Nintendo enemies while exploring the maze than fight the main battle at the end... ='D

Yeah, I don't get it. Sure, they could have used a different version of link from SS but I don't get the hate for the current model. It's not poorly done, the haters just don't like the style he was designed to have for this game. Sorry, your subjective opinion doesn't ruin a good representation of an awesome character. Maybe it does for you but not I.

Yeah well uh. That's what I'm stating. My opinion. I don't need you to tell me that my opinion is an opinion, breh.

Links ugly his eyebrows look done up and angled in a way that he looks like an 80 year old diva. Zelda looks like she has less makeup in than Link.

I was thinking of reposting the #TeamReal and #TeamFake lists after the leak was proven legit, but I (a) found it difficult to get around to it and (b) decided that it would probably do more damage and foster negativity more than it would be fun, since so many people around here enjoy shaming and making fun of each other in hurtful, antisocial ways over a video game.

Seeing the argument going on about it now, I'd say I made the right choice.

The only thing weird about Lunk's model is the cheeks. It kind of looks like they are permaneny inflated like so :I

Also his mouth is a bit too wide.

The investment for Smash has begun. Just picked up a second 3DS in the form of the $99 2DS at GameStop.

Oh man. The hype is real.

Alph, Brittany, & Charlie

I'd be good with another Pikmin rep - there's a lot you can play with as far as the "command Pikmin" mechanic goes. Lots of stuff you can adapt from the games. I'll honestly be pretty disappointed if we get Alph as an alternate costume for Olimar rather than a full-blown clone...

I haven't actually played Pikmin 3, though, so I can't say if I'd prefer any of these guys to Louie. Really love their designs, though. Charlie in particular.

I have kind of been in a bittersweet outlook for it. On one hand its a chance to mess with the characters & really dig into how they work, on the other hand I am very competitive & seasoned with smash bros. The thought of being restricted to the circle pad is off putting. Smash imo isnt a game that can be played super well on something like the 3DS controls :/

Maybe I'm just over thinking it. I Just wish the 3ds version came out when they said it would so there would be plenty of time to adjust. I just feel like its going to be the "tide you over" game then the wiiU Version will kill its population. Is it even worth 100% if thats the case ?

Sorry for so many question(°ロ°)
But even after the Wii U version comes out, there will be certain things, like Smash Run and exclusive stages, that would bring me back to it. Sakurai is deliberately designing each version in such a way that they can coexist.

Links ugly
done up
80 year old diva
makeup

You come off as shallow. Link has always been pretty androgynous, what are you suggesting? That he shouldn't be? What is wrong with a male having that complexion/wearing makeup? It's all reflective of a nasty attitude against feminine side of everyone.

It's because he looks like Joan Rivers.

Why am I just realizing that you have a GAF account!? X_X

If it's anything like Brawl (7000+ hours) then probably around 3000/4000+ hours. XD

Playing with friends is key!

Who is are you ಠ_ಠ

Idk without some kind of co-op smash run doesn't seem like the kind of thing that will last. And exclusive stages really aren't enough to make me want to play the same game with inferior controls(nothing beats GC Controller for smash imo).

Smash on the go is certainly going to be a wonderful thing but if I have the wiiU version in front of me that's all I'm going to play unless I am out & about (*・ω・)

I get that there hasn't been an explicit "Ridley is a boss" announcement. However, it was clearly implied. Very clearly. Like I said though, that has been the only Ridley "tease" I just think any and everything else people have said that "teases" Ridley is straw grasping. I just don't see the logic behind the idea that Sakurai has been dragging Ridley fans around, teasing them, and laughing maniacally.

He was teased when pyrosphere was announced, when the "big hole" was shown, during the direct and if that comment about scale not mattering in smash isn't considered a Ridley tease considering the main argument against him, then I don't know what is.

The thing about Ridley is that "heavily implied" to be a boss (but not actually confirmed or even mentioned by name), is still completely different to the way every other character deconfirmation has been handled.

Waluigi wasn't shown but not named and heavily implied to be an AT, Ashley wasn't shown but not named and heavily implied to be an AT, Takamaru wasn't shown but not named and heavily implied to be an AT, they were all named and shot down instantly as an AT.

Sakurai said:
I don't like it when a tweet or whatever leads to needless speculation getting spread around," he wrote. "For example, when I tweet about playing some game, some people immediately get the idea that that character is in the new Smash Bros. Then people fan the flames on it, people start to think it's really true, people get angry about it. Nobody benefits.

These aren't the words or actions of someone who would allow needless speculation around a popular character to go on for over a year after the first tease of the character.

Ridley is more than just a stage boss, does that mean he's playable? Not necessarily. But you can't deny that he's handled the character completely differently to every other character that could be playable for him to just be a stage boss.

Link looks a little weird.

People who are super pissed are overreacting a little.

There's almost nothing else left to discuss, so the silliness will continue!

Yeah, trying to get as much stuff as I can, then after the Wii U release, 3DS will be Smash Run/Unlock the last few trophies.

Isn't you sticking to your guns because of your own personal conclusions based on sakurais implications the same thing as what he's doing?

All I've done is assume that Ridley is likely to be a boss character because Sakurai specifically used him as an example of other bosses featured in the game. If I were to say something like "Sakurai has consistently implied that Ridley will not be playable, and has constantly said some characters are too big to be in the game," then I would agree with you. However, I'm just going off the actual evidence provided.

Team Neutral always wins in the end
anyways.

Yup.

Ridley's neither confirmed or de-confirmed.

People on both sides are getting a little angry and defensive.

We, most likely, won't know until the game comes out, so the silliness will continue!

For future reference, if anyone wants to comb my post history in regards to SmashGAF (which by all means, please do) I only ask for the complete convos to be posted, for transparency sake.

And please refer to these two post, where I admit I was wrong, my team lost, and posted the crow pie I had to eat.

I would never change my avatar over something as stupid as being wrong about a leak >.>

It was a semi-related bet I had with another member. Not a direct link between the two.

Honestly, sorry for the offense.

... I forgive you.

Yup.

There was ample evidence to support both sides, but in the end only one side was ever going to be vindicated.

There are people on both sides behaving just deplorably...

It's the internet so... the silliness will continue!

I feel like how much I end up playing the 3DS version in the long run is pretty much solely dependent on how Smash Run turns out. It seems like something that I could either adore and make one of my go-to multiplayer games, or something that could wear itself thin pretty quickly.

First of all, online is a must. I know it hasn't been explicitly confirmed other than "it's way different than a regular online battle", but I'm optimistic. Being able to do a vs. Player match at any time would be excellent. Other than that... really, just make it like Kirby Air Ride's City Trial. Lots of different events that can happen over the course of the collection phase, lots of different final match types, lots of different achievements to unlock corresponding to Smash Run... 90% of the final battle types we've seen being regular Smash matches with modifiers has me a bit hesitant, but I'll wait and see how it pans out in the full game.

Sakurai has never said that some characters are too big to be in the game, he said that he could get Ridley in the game but it would be hard and he would be slow, the too big rubbish is just a fan argument/meme that doesn't really hold much weight.

What is this about a Nintendo Direct? :0

Who is are you ಠ_

We talked on a Twitch stream, the game that was being played was Killer Instinct then Titanfall. It was a female twitch streamer, who was pronouncing everything correctly in Japanese, that you made her say. XD

The 3DS version will be perfect for me to play while while I go to uni and in between classes, while I'll alway have the Wii U at home. It's a win-win for me!

It was a semi-related bet I had with another member. Not a direct link between the two.
In case I came off rude, I was joking about my avatar :P

I think you need to re-read my post. I'm pointing out that I never claimed Sakurai said that.

How many hours do you all think you will put into the 3ds version when you get it soon or later? (/ω\*)

So, so many.

I'll have this, Fire Emblem, Layton VS Wright, Luigi's Mansion, Bravely Default, Donkey Kong 3D and Theatrythm: CC all as eShop titles I'm working on, plus I've been thinking about replaying Shin Megami Tensei recently, too.

Then Tomogachi Life to check in on once or twice a day Project X Zone when I feel up to it and I should probably get the DLC case for Ace Attorney 5...

Oh and Mario Kart 7.

I love having most of my games as digital titles. I think I'll be attached at the hip to my 3DS through the rest of the year.

Oh yeah, nevermind then.

No worries. Just to clarify my posts, I just feel like there isn't much evidence to support Ridley, and that I feel that some of the "evidence" used to support his inclusion is tenuous at best. I'm not trying to hate on people that want him in. If he gets in, cool. If not though, it shouldn't be a surprise.

A 3ds direct for japan only tomorrow

OH I remember you now. It was Nancy's stream ヽ(*・ω・)ノ It is strange were just now bumping into each other on GAF. What is going to be your smash 4 main?

Wow you are set up then =) I will be cycling between xbox one wiiu & 3ds stuff (◠‿◠✿)

Interestingly enough, this same stance was taken (and proven to be correct) that there wasn't enough evidence to discredit the leak's authenticity.

This is getting ridiculous.

1. Even if Sakurai had intended for the shadow to just be a teaser for Ridley's role as a stage boss, he still has to have noticed the reaction it caused and that it just fueled people's expectations for him to be a playable character even more. He has had plenty of opportunities to clarify the confusion in the months since that direct, and he hasn't.

2. Sakurai has mentioned in interviews that he does not like to 'lead on' fans when it comes to characters they want in the game, because that can lead to negative hype. He has deconfirmed other characters without any ambiguity, so why would he treat Ridley differently?

3. Sakurai loves to play with peoples expectations and troll. Remember the Ganondorf POTD for Brawl, where the caption was asking why he didn't use his sword? Remember the ZSS deconfirm and immediate reveal? How about the build up to Palutena's reveal? He does this ALL THE TIME so I have no idea why the Ridley shadow can't possibly be a similar thing.

4. Every other character that has been ambiguously 'revealed' so far has ended up playable. Dark Pit showing up at the end of the Palutena trailer. Mr. Game & Watch.

5. Lastly, I'm don't think any of us are saying Ridley is definitely in. We're just saying there's a chance, and I think it's silly to be so confident that he isn't in the game, given there is NO CLEAR EVIDENCE. Your evidence for him not being in the game is that it was heavily implied he was a boss. That isn't proof.

Been running all over the place today, so I need an update: Are we expecting a Direct outside of Japan, and are we expecting any public updates to come out of the media summit at PAX? Also, is the media summit tomorrow, and if so, what time?

It's past noon PST, so if we were getting an announcement for an American Direct, I think it would have already happened.
