Nintendo (Japan) 3DS Direct to be broadcast soon [Iwata, 33 mins, Chico is Quiet]

I am already tired of this comeback of Japan only events..fatal frame, pokken, ff explorer, kagura, directs..Nintdndo dropping the ball during iwata desease on the west..

Japanese games commonly come out in Japan first. And Western games commonly come out in the West first. That's just sorta how it works and always has.

Why the hell are you putting FF Explorer and Senran Kagura as if those were Nintendo events? They weren't at all, they were events from third parties, not Nintendo. And people (myself included) already explained to you why Pokken and FF were special cases compared to the norm. This sounds like you're criticising just for the hell of criticising, with a good dose of overworrying.

They promised to take care of promotion, distribution and publishing of japanese third party games for the west to increase the release schedule. And FF5, Pokken and the directs are totally under their control.
But after the great e3 management of communication, they dropped the ball.
Gamescon was a shame. No conf, no direct, no significant PR.
And note that we still dont know details for bayo2 LE, no date, no price..HW LE not available on amazon, Captain toad delayed, no info on amiibo sku, price, date..

They can't (and shouldn't) be responsible for localizing every semi-major Japanese game from a 3rd party. FF5 was promoted as part of a press conference in relation to the movie releasing in Japan. Maybe it's not planned for release in the West, but it would be the first title Nintendo-published Wii U title in Japan that they don't bring over to you guys.

Pokken's trailer was uploaded to the official English Pokemon Youtube channel right after the Famitsu live-stream (it has, incidentally, got >1.6 million views since then). Pokken is also only officially announced for arcades and bringing the arcade version over to the West may not even be worth it and is almost certainly going to be a negotiation between Namco and TPCi.

FF Explorer and Senran Kagura events aren't under their control, they're third parties initiatives. See ArtHands' post for why they did what they did for Fatal Frame and Pokken, it's a good explanation, even better than mine.

And what does what said after E3 have to do with third parties events, events representing special cases and...Gamescom? Nintendo doesn't have a Gamescom conference, usually. Still, they had a good presence with stands and even a Smash Bros. 3DS Torunament. They also released a 7-minutes-long trailer for Wii U about already released and upcoming titles.

And what does the Hyrule Warriors Limited have to do with your original posts? Btw, it's a GAME exclusive in UK, Amazon for France and Germany and Gamestop for Italy, from what I've seen.

About the other things, I suppose there's going to be a Direct for them. I suppose we're going to see a Bayonetta 2 Direct, as its Japanese release approaches, and that's when we'll have details about release and other things. And this Direct will surely be a WW one, at least like the Hyrule Warriors Direct. I hope we're going to see a general Direcgt of course, and this being a Japan-only one disappoints me a bit for now (without knowing the actual content), and it's right to be disappointed for that. But all the other things? And being so much pessimistic? I think this is a case of overreaction. Heck, they said those things about bringing more Japanese titles about E3 time...and you want to see things immediatly, otherwise it's a continuous "BOOH! THEY FLEW WAY TOO NEAR THE SUN!!! BOOH!!!"? It's exaggerated, a lot. Being critic about things is right, but being overly pessimistic ignoring the points other people almost for the sake of it doesn't feel right, sorry Nuas. :P

EDIT: And yeah, Pokken trailer has actually been uploaded for the West as well. Heck, it'se even on the Italian Pokémon channel

So most likely only gonna be over the things that have already been announced right? Oh well, I'll still wake up for it tomorrow since I don't have classes.

Already announced games will likely be the focus but I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least one big new game announcement.

Nintendo will most certainly speak of Super Smash 3DS, Fatal Frame 5 and Bayonetta 2 as they are both releasing in the month of September.

Third-party games might also include Dragon Quest X, Haikyu Quest and Monster Hunter 4G.

It should be a good Direct, lots to cover!

Maybe a first-party announcement as well to cover the December window as they only have Super Smash in September and Pokemon ORAS in November.

Well time to kill 7 hours.

Not really expecting any first-party announcements as it's Japan-only. Maybe an Eshop game?
Last time there was a Japan only general Direct, we got Daigasso Band Bros P. (That might have just been a full reveal and not an announcement though, I forget)

It would be smarter to keep expectations low but we could still get a new retail game announcement from Nintendo.

Japan and 3DS Only still? Hype deflated.

IF they drop a megaton though, I will be thoroughly surprised. I'm not expecting anything.

Wonder what the over/under on something from Dai Gyakuten Saiban is. The smart money's still on Famitsu week after next, but this is close enough to their scheduled website update/TGS that I'd say there's still a shot.

FF5 and B2 probably not because 3DS only Direct. Probably in a later direct next week or something for Wii U.

I want some surprises that could actually come to the west. Let's give consumers an idea of what the next year of 3ds games will look like.

Considering how many times JP only 3DS Direct had give us suprises.... This kind of reaction is not something I predicted would happen here.

Just the existence of new games/updated info on games excites me. Localization announcements for later are something I can easily wait for. :)

REALLY hope for a legit new retail game announcement, and not just regurgitate games we already know about. :P

Kenka Bancho 3DS was a really pleasant surprise last time in the 3rd-party Direct.

Wild out there guess; Seaman 3DS under that trademarked title "Fish with the human face" or something or other.

Only 3 and a half hours left! Isn't that pretty much when everyone in America is still sleeping? I hope we get an NA Direct soon...

I really don't think so. Official website said new info would be revealed on September 11, so I'd be really surprised if DGS showed up at all.

Anyway, Koinuma (from Tecmo-Koei), just posted this :

to those so calm about the Western side of Nintendo thing: I envy you. Let's see if you'll still be of the same opinion if we'll have to wait for a Direct with some relevant new announcement or localization for months...

Btw: did SE already confirmed the platform for the brand new Dragon Quest Monster game?

It's really not that big of a deal man.

I am sure we will get a global direct soon

Sorry, but... Nintendo kept doing what they have always been doing since the launch of Nintendo Direct: some Japanese-oriented Direct, some Western-oriented Direct, some Direct about specific games. The last worldwide Nintendo Direct was less than a month ago, and was focused on Hyrule Warriors (they announced new characters and the Limited Edition).

Just a few months ago there was an event (i.e. E3) which brought plenty of good news about Wii U e 3DS software. Gamescom was also a big event; no announcement but a lot of new games (Super Smash Bros. stand was one of the busiest) and demo (good coverage by many big websites).

Many recent announcements about Europe came outside Nintendo Direct, while being typical Direct news: Mario Kart 8 DLC blowout; Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Limited Edition; Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphyr Limited Edition; sales promotion linked to Super Smash Bros. new and veteran challengers; reveal of Fire Emblem: Awakening characters in Super Smash Bros.; Sonic Boom release date. why did they choose to spread this news through social networks, PRs and the official website? Probably this might be due to Iwata's health conditions, and the decision to keep a low public profile. But there were a lot of news nonetheless focused on Western markets.

As far as I remember, Nintendo never announced release dates and other launch information about first party games a lot ahead of time, in particular for those which are not internally developed. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate European release date and bundle was announced in January and in February, when the game was coming out in March. Also, Nintendo is focusing on one big game at a time; Hyrule Warriors is a priority right now, then Bayonetta 2 in October and so on.

The only two events heavily focused towards Japanese audience were Fatal Frame's and Pokkén Tournament's. But the reason is simple: the first one is marketed by Koei Tecmo (and the latest Wii entries have always been announced to Japan first), along with the movie and the manga; of course, the last two will probably not come out in the West, while the game might be. Pokkén is, instead, an arcade game for now, but the official Pokémon channel uploaded the trailer anyway. This is how marketing and promotion works, and have always worked.

As for Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson; Final Fantasy Explorers; and the other games you mentioned, software houses never stopped to make Japan-oriented events. Furthermore, Final Fantasy Explorers has already been trademarked in Europe and North America so it is likely coming.

The last thing about Nintendo localization of Japanese third party games; in the last year, Nintendo brought in Europe: Bravely Default, Professor Layton and the Aslant Legacy, Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright, Inazuma Eleven 3 Team Ogre Attacks!, Inazuma Eleven GO, and they are going to bring in the few next months: Disney Magical Castle, Fantasy Life and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I don't think one can complain about their efforts in brining third party games in the West; one might question about which games they are localizing, but the effort is surely there.
