Xenoblade announced for New 3DS

How can people defend any mobile phone developer and the fact that every single year a new revision comes out for said phone that has only slightly better specs? Because the money the masses still throw at them and their decision laughs at you and your "choice to not be like everyone else".

You can't compare iPhones and 3DS's.

And i'm still able to run any app on my 4S, even if they might lag a little

Do you think the faster processor will be used for a more expansive virtual console? Maybe GBA and SNES games will finally come out. This could be where the shared account is implemented!

I'm willing to bet Nintendo isn't going to release the 3DS Xenoblade outside of Japan. They barely released the Wii version in North America, after all.

So, did anyone ever bitch about gold and silver being exclusive to Gameboy Color? I mean, that was a far bigger franchise as well

Uhhh what

It's a completely different scenario here.

Pokemon has always been a handheld IP. Anyone buying Gold and Silver knew that whatever sequel comes out will be on a handheld (Either that one or a future one but a handheld nonetheless).

This on the other hand is a downport of a Wii title with its sequel coming out on your main home console. If you don't own a WiiU and want to play the sequel you're being asked to

Buy a New 3DS
Buy Xenoblade 3DS
Buy a WiiU
Buy XCX

vs a HD remaster that would actually improve the game requiring the user if they don't own a WiiU to

Buy a WiiU
Buy Xenoblade HD
Buy XCX

One of those methods doesn't end up making the user have to buy 2 new systems.

Think of it this way, with that frame rate, Nintendo can add "Now with 50 hours of additional gameplay!" to the back of the cover.

EDIT: And beaten :P

Why not? They may not be perfectly analogous, but the mobile world has left its mark upon traditional video games in many ways. Is it such a surprise that someone would take more powerful hardware revisions from the mobile playbook, too?

From where I stand.

No updated 3DS = no Xenoblade portable

Nobody gets to play it.

Update 3DS = Xenoblade portable

People get to play it.

I'm not sure what is wanted here? This never to have been announced? Is that really it? Or to attempt to cram it down from a new hardware platform that is already looking like it struggles on?

Surely that's not comparable, yes I bought my Sony Xperia Z, but I'm still getting the same Android updates and the same Android features as the Z2, a more parrallel would be games being latest Android exclusive, which is bullshit.

People want to play all 3DS game on their 3DS, I know, a crazy concept.

This is very plausible. FYI a few developers have said the 3DS is just too slow for certain kinds of emulation. Farsight canceled Pinball Arcade for 3DS because it couldn't run their emulator for pinball machine logic boards.

I suspect lack of power is why there is no SNES VC on the 3DS. And it probably can't run a true GBA emulator which is why the ambassador games are stuck running in a special mode that locks out 3DS hardware.

so like $180 for the new 3ds LL. I'll probably wait for GameStop to offer some kind of trade in bonus for trading in old XLs towards the new one because I'm going to have no need for two 3DS

I'm not. They seem to be pretty behind Xenoblade now as a brand.

We don't know how much work it would be to localize... it depends on how much they had to redo from scratch to get it to work on the New 3DS. Whereas we know they can pretty easily reprint the Wii version, or do an HD remaster of it already fully localized.

I'd like it to, but I'm going to guess no, at least for the shared account part. GBA and SNES VC is more reasonable, and I'm sort of holding out hope for it, but I'm not really expecting much.

Internet-rage is internet-rage. I'm thinking about the Simpson's episode where Grandpa was raging because of a cloud.

After all the Tomb Raider rage I hope that their was no rage left in the rage-meter for this year, but...

Because ppl didn't buy new phone just to use certain apps.

The thing is, the GBC came out years and years after the GB had been around... so it wasn't as much of a shock as these newer iterations. By that point a lot of people who had a Gameboy were ready to buy a new system, whereas many people weren't prepared for the onslaught of GBAs, DSs, and 3DSs/2DSs.

3DS has been out for years as well

Great argument.

Maybe it's just that I'd like to be able to play 3DS games on my 3DS?

Thank you for making sense. Also nobody is saying that a Xenoblade HD is not going to happen.

New Xenoblade? Meh.

New 3DS? What the hell is going on? I could have sworn that I looked a few days ago to see if there were any Directs coming up and there were none! Did they actually introduce the successor to 3DS out of nowhere?!

you're kidding yourself if you think this won't be localized.

What work do they have to do?
Compress the existing English audio and UI?

Yes. If they can't release the game in a way it could run in ALL 3DS models, then don't bother announcing it.

What's wrong with you?

Amazing news for someone who hasn't got 3DS like me. But I wonder why they don't hold it out for next DS (4DS, whatever) so they can do a proper remake.

Is it possible that, *gasp*, there will be no next handheld. It will be console-handheld hybrid like rumored. Next Nintendo handheld will run XenobladeX natively.

Getting this and New3DS anyway.

A hardware model that threatens to break forwards compatibility for software boggles my mind. And there are a lot of "Old" 3DS devices out there. It's kind of bonkers that those devices are basically damaged goods. Did this happen to 360 or PS3 revisions besides changes to storage space onboard?

Huh. Didn't see that coming.

Would the controls on this version even be any good?

If they release it in the US I'll probably buy in any case.

I can't even... It's not that hard to comprehend.

It's not a 3DS game. It's a 'New 3DS' game.

It won't run on your 3DS. Your 3DS is old.

Just take a look at the frame rate. Imagine how ass it would run on your Old 3DS.

It's like if you wanted a PS3 game to run on your PS2.

It's not happening.

Old Xenoblade, new port. This direct was announced yesterday, I think, and was a japan exclusive. I think most people are just as surprised as you by this announcement. But yes, it happened.

You don't need to buy 2 systems. Because right now you can do the option below:

Buy a Wii U
Buy Xenoblade for Wii and play it on your Wii U.
Buy Xenoblade Chronicles X
