Xenoblade announced for New 3DS

From where I stand.

No updated 3DS = no Xenoblade portable

Nobody gets to play it.

Update 3DS = Xenoblade portable

People get to play it.

I'm not sure what is wanted here? This never to have been announced? Is that really it? Or to attempt to cram it down from a new hardware platform that is already looking like it struggles on?

This isn't a new hardware though. It's a revision.

"B-but GBC..." Do you know how many years people have waited for a new GB? Yeah... It brought major improvements to the GB line at the time.

"B-but smartphones..." different enviroments, cheaper games, subsidies, etc.

This (and DSi) not. I raged for DSi, I'll complain about this too, it's a fucking stupid idea splitting user base like this.

I really would have preferred them to make a Wii U remake instead of a fucking 3DS port. I refuse to believe that this new 3DS is powerful enough to make this not look and play like shit.

It's a revision with some kind of upgraded specs.
It'd be fucking dumb if they used it only for better browsing and downloading.

I'll buy it just to have it portable.

Always thought a port of this on a handheld would be cool.

Can we get gem creation as a streetpass function?

So it's not comparable to smartphones at all, got it.

I buy off contract phones and it sounds pretty similar.

A new Nexus costs $349 a year and I sell the old model for about $200 making it a yearly upgrade of $150.

If you want to sell your old 3DS it will offset the cost the same way millions do with mobile phones.

No, your browser is not loading the gif, it's current speed.

Now imagine turning the 3D effect on, you'll get half the speed!

I was just saying how much id love to play xenoblade. Now theres a wii copy that costs too much and will only get pricier and a 3ds version for *not* my 3ds. And
shulk was confirmed for smash this morning!
perfect.

Well you dont have to buy it, its not like you will miss anything its not like it can run on the old 3DS anyways so whats the point of whining? Xenoblade is exclusively on the "NEW" 3DS.. not 3DS, not 3DSXL.

I feel like the word precedent tells you what my problem is. The fact that are willing to push out a major game as only working on this new system is alaraming. Whats stopping them from making other exlusives or having their big games have special "New 3DS" only features. Nothing. This is'nt like the DSi were they had very few small and inconsequential games. Or small download games that were Nintendo at best experimenting with digital.

This is actually a major game.

So yes it is forcing me to buy it, because I'd still like to play 3ds games. I'd like to play 3ds games that won't be handicapped on my 3ds because Nintendo decided to put out a new 3ds.

So is this 3DS 2? Is this just a 3ds? This is the problem, it's pretty clear that this is'nt a successor just a stop gap. One that fucks over original 3ds owners.

its not like you will miss anything
Um? I'll miss Xenoblade. Any future new 3ds games and features of 3ds games that take advantage of this.

And at least with DSi they created an entirely separate marketplace for selling the games. It was almost like it was a separate feature exclusive to the DSi, whereas this feels more like taking future retail games and making them compatible only with the newest iteration.

Personally I think Nintendo should either make games for all versions of the 3DS or not make them at all. Specifically with Xenoblade they should have just brought it to the 3DS' successor.

SWEET!!! Looks alright, but I'm more interested in the gameplay anyway so I should be set assuming it is just like the Wii game. This is great news for me too as I haven't gotten a 3DS yet so this will officially be my first game for it (assuming it makes it out of Japan)!

Sure. Good luck for all of you, I want nothing to do with Nintendo, I'm selling my 3DS and will never buy another Nintendo console and by consequence any of their games, they might as well not exist to me at this point.
Good luck... Its a bit strange to be over reacting like this over just a game. Or i am not seeing it, whatever anti-consumer thing that Nintendo has supposedly done with the release of this redesign...

GAF: game looks awful WHY CAN'T I PLAY IT???

You refuse to buy updated hardware but want to play a game designed for that hardware. Not sure what the solution to this problem could be... No idea at all...

How can people get so dramatic over this?

Then buy the new system? Oh please.. Im sure yall was not complaining about this.

Do you only think this is a new system because they put the word new in the title?

Did you think the Slim 360, PS3 Slim, PSP3000, PS2 slims were also completely new systems?

And yeah just buy the new system. Money is not a problem! You bought the 3ds and expected that to be fine for the 3ds's life? Well sorry screw you, spend more money!

This has nothing to do with Xenoblade...

Seriously... Why is this so difficult for people to comprehend?

If you feel FORCED to buy it then thats your fault.. thats pretty incredible

No it has better CPU and plays exclusive games

The problem is this is a sign of things to come. Xenoblade is just the first game that's being developed exclusively for the new hardware, who knows what other devs may go in that direction, as well.

I can well afford to buy this new 3DS model, and I probably will, but it doesn't mean that it's fair.

It's not fair to say 'GAF:' - I realised it's only two or three users that are whining hard.

I have the Wii version buy i've still to play it because it is a very huge game I have no time to spend on it :( ,and it looks crappy on HD screens.

A 3DS version could have been the solution for me because i love spending time on portable games more than home ones, but hell i am not going to spend 200+ euro for playing it in that way.

Hope this is only a launch title to boost up the sales.

They've insisted they won't be putting their games on mobile or competitor consoles, though.

Anyone who would buy a WiiU for a Xenoblade remake will buy a WiiU for Xenoblade X.

On the other hand, some people will buy the New 3DS for this game. Seems like a pretty solid business decision.

Anyone who bought a Wii U for Xenoblade X will get Xenoblade. I would. But I sure as shit won't buy a 3DS revision for a downgraded port and I can't fathom who would.

This is actually a major game.

This is a port, not a major game. This is one of those 'slippery slope' arguments that are just beyond silly... Nintendo wants to make money, not lose it. They aren't suddenly going to lock out tons of users from new games as that'll only hurt their financials more.

All in good fun. I love my Wii U dearly. I hope you at least got a smirk out of it!

I don't get the complaints really. If this is the only way to put Xenoblade on a portable hardware then it makes sense to have it a New 3DS exclusive. Just like some DS games DSi exclusive.

I'm happy for this because it will help the franchise get more exposure it rightfully deserves, especially in the home country (Japan). And besides, you have an option called the Wii or Wii U for this game. More options should not be so bad.

It's a port that will single handedly prompt me to upgrade.

'Fair' is a very odd word to use in a commerce context...

"It's not fair that I can't afford thing!!!"
"It's not fair that you don't sell me thing!!! I want buy!!!"

(This is not a parody of you, I'm just trying to illustrate how the word has absurd relevance.)

I wouldn't take this shit from any other company and I won't take it from Nintendo.

I'm doing the same. No more nintendo for me, and I've been with them since the game&watch.

Gameboy: 1989
Gameboy Colour: 1998

People need to stop making the distinction between that and this.
What happens if you include Game Boy Pocket in the timeline?

Also what about DS and DSi. I didn't care for DSi so my dates may be (EU dates here). DS Phat 2005, DSi 2009.

3DS 2011, New 2015

Oh my god it is like exactly the same thing.

It's my fault? How? I'm not the one attempting to split the audience and close off things to people wanting to play 3ds games.

While still being a 3ds. It's not a new system. It's a new 3ds. A new model of something thats already available.

I expect the consoles I buy to be the focus of a company for more than 3.5 years and to be able to play all games they release in the foreseeable future until they release a completely new console years down the line . I don't care if I'm right or wrong, its the way I feel and they won't have my support with this. If any other company pulled this I would react exactly the same, new Vita game that doesn't work on the Vita I already have? Count me out.
